Based on the one picture it doesn't look like the bottles will be refilled. It appears that they will be replaced when empty and that just the pump dispenser is the reusable part (maybe? It's hard to tell).

Is there really a difference between the bottles we have in our showers collecting bacteria right now compared to these dispencers? I surely don't use open up new bottle of shampoo/conditioner every day.

Let's just all admit that we all would rather take home the toiletries than having the dispensers.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have a wire shower caddy hanging in my shower and the bottles can be removed and wiped if they get gross. When I clean my tub I take everything out and wipe it. I think the objection to this is that it's a ton of rooms to clean and these may not be given the attention they need.

Of course many people enjoy taking home the bottles. You're paying a rdiculous price for the room, so why not???

The difference is that I'm in charge of the cleaning of my own bathroom. I keep things clean and dry. I know that there has been many a time where I've cleaned mold off the shower door and off the edges of the showers when staying dvc. Just one more place for me to clean with those dispensers. And because they are fixed, I'll have to clean and dry them every day. I don't like anything cluttering up a shower area. Too tough to clean.

I don't take home any of the toiletries. As I mentioned before, I'm a light packer--never would I haul home a bag of shampoo. Carry on only.

Still are they really gonna clean those? They will probably just pop them in and the old buildup and bacteria can still be there.

That does NOTHING for the bacteria that gets INSIDE the bottles, which is the real issue the article was addressing. The housekeeping staff will be cleaning the outsides of the containers. I personally don't think it is any more of an issue than it is in your shower at home.

Yeah sure but do you believe they are cleaning these in that little turn over window?

Seriously well let's see in the shower I'm not gonna grab the Hand sanitizer. Are you kidding me someone servicing ahem* washing their junk and double dipping and then the next person comes in and used it wash cloth to their face or body!!! Plus, the fingers a d nails all sticking in the product and they could've just wiped their butt cause they don't wash their hands!!
So do you really believe they are taking these when they will have old product and cleaning them out and letting them soak all the pieces ?? Giving your own toiletries was a nice souviner advertisement , then the h2o was samples to get you to buy. Now they can be like Oh, you were counting on us supplying them Nope! (There are plenty of people who will not expect this) But if you want your own you can purchase a bottle or two at the gift shop! Cause they Know people would do that over trudging off property to get some.

So yes it is a cheap and Unsanitary move!

The hand rails, ride vehicles, doorknobs, etc. are just as unsanitary, if not moreso because they're probably never wiped down. If people are so concerned about germs, they'd literally have to walk around all day touching nothing. Washing your hands before you eat or touch your face is the best thing you can do.

Again, they are fixed so if you've got kids you can't just put it out of reach and they'll likely grab them and such.

I keep my shampoo ect dry, I toss out anything I'm unsure about.

This is not a consideration move on their part, it's a bean counter move. It goes along with the cheapening of removing the handles on the drinks. They didn't do that out of consideration to guest, they Did it to squeeze out more money (people can't easily clip the mug to take to the parks so right off the bat if they want a coffee they'll have to purchase one and they don't have to pay for handles. That's what that was.)

This one is a real low blow. Most hotels would give you soaps and shampoo out of curtesy. At what they Charge that should be something included and with the norivirus and stuff seriously unsanitary move!

The Difference is this is in the HOTEL Room Shower! Let me get this straight you will wash your hands , body and face with the grimy soap whatever on the
Dispenser and then what? Use hand sanatizer after you get out of the shower?

What's next for the toilet paper to go to those napkin sheets we hand in school?

Also
Ever have a pump
That doesn't work right? That's a pain, what are you gonna do shout for the possible person with you to call house keeping and then wait for them to replace it IN the shower?

They have them locked so no one takes them but notice the tops do look like someone could pop it off and mess with it. So maybe you'll find dye in yours cause a couple of teens thought this could be funny.

You can't overthink this, seriously you will drive yourself crazy. There hasn't been an outbreak of disease from soap dispensers that I'm aware of. Norovirus and colds ok, these are things you need to be prepared to combat when you go to the biggest tourist destination in the US, maybe the planet. But you can't drive yourself crazy worrying about it. Just suds up good - after bathroom, before eating, and keep hands away from face.

I will admit that I love taking the toiletries home. My girlfriend goes crazy for them since they are really nicely themed. Will it break my vacation? Absolutely not. Disney does not owe me anything and if they choose to run the hotels a certain way that I don't agree with, I will book somewhere else and still show up and have a ton of fun.

IMO some people here are acting like they are going to catch a disease over this.

I think the idea is that you will get out of the shower all clean, hop into your bed, and turn on the TV with the remote control that has 10x more bacteria that will ever be in the shower that is at the very least wiped down daily.

There are soap dispensers all over the place. I haven't read any reports of illness outbreaks from using soap dispensers anywhere.

I have similar size bottles of shampoo at home. I have a lot of hair and I go through a lot of shampoo. I've never had any mold issues with my shampoo bottles.

And for what it's worth, I wouldn't ever wash my face with hotel room soap anywhere. It would be horrible for my acne. I always bring my own face soap.

Or maybe we won't use the remote at all or some have put that in bags to use and some have used wipes to wipe it down cause they can wipe that whole thing. This is fixed.

What's to stop someone from tampering with these? You don't think a wild teen might decide "you know what would be funny let me pour some blue or green dye or something in it?" This is just a Cheap move.

Oh and some people are Immune suppressed! So if my dad didn't know about this and didn't bring shampoo or something and he used that could be sad. Or if one of my kids touched the Shampoo Jail and then went to him and he caught something from them touching that cause after all the kids were just in the bathroom washing. Then we could loose him.

So many people either don't care or aren't aware that when they go to work or shopping eventhough they still carry the virus (your medicine doesn't instantly cure you. It makes you more comfortable) they put Others at Serious risk!

I've heard people "Yeah , I'm picking up my prescription for this... but I'm at Target so I'm gonna shop till I drop" cough , hack ooh I need this Asahh choo oh no I like this better".
This well I'm sick already and my family is exposed so I don't care about anyone else additude.

I don't think anyone is catching a disease over it, but I also don't wipe down every surface every where I go, either :)

I DIDN'T read the ARTICLE. I was merely giving my opinion on what I quoted. I buy giant bottles of Paul Mitchell and I have very short hair. It never occurs to me that bacteria is in my conditioner. Don't need to read the article. Don't care that much about it.

MY thought is that they won't be cleaned OUTSIDE very well over time.

Also, what about the possible tampering? Do you really think No one will mess with them?

And are you really comfortable grabbing the Lube after everyone has even though it's been wiped down? If so you should have come to the department store I worked out where lambswool dusters hand a similar experience and my boss decided to give them away as Free Gifts at Christmas! No, I was honest and didn't let any of my customers leave with unknown used pleasure toys.

Love it. I hate having to open those little packs and bottles. This makes it much easier. Also helps to diminish a bunch of extra waste! Good job disney.
