Pop Century Room Renovations

I'd posted above about how much I love the refurbished room I'm currently staying in at Pop.

Well, was due to move over to POFQ next week. Looked at room rates for Pop for those dates and found a great AP room rate, and called to change my reservation. Stopped by the front desk at Pop. Will be staying at Pop instead in the same refurbed room! Very happy about this - not only is Pop significantly cheaper, but I think I will prefer this newly refurbed room to the POFQ room (though not stayed at POFQ before).

I guess that kind of emphasises how much I'm loving this room...

I just switched to POP from ASMo for our trip at the end of the month, noticing that the passholder rate was available here in both preferred and standard. I hope I did it right in hopes of getting a refurbed room. I went with standard and requested 90s or 80s at online check-in. We are arriving early in the morning and plan to let the front desk know we are willing to wait for a refurb room if necessary since we don't need to get into the room right away. Is there anything else I should do to increase my chances?

Yes currently no preferred rooms have completed the refurb, so the only refurb rooms are standard rooms.

I did online check in and also sent in a touring plans fax request. One of them worked as when I checked in the cm noted that I had requested for a room in 80s/90s refurb and that's what I got!

We arrived today around 730a after driving straight for 12 hours. I had requested a 4th floor renovated room which was added to my reservation and I also submitted a faxed request 5 days prior to arrival. Surprisingly, we were the only guests checking in when we arrived! Well, after much nervousness on whether we'd get one of the coveted renovated rooms for our 14-day stay, we were assigned a 4th floor 90's room!!!

Oh my goodness, the room is so amazing! It is incredibly cozy and comfy for me, my husband, and 3 year old and has exceeded all my expectations and more!!! And the ample storage and cubbies are awesome!! For the first time staying at Pop, I actually was able to fully unpack and the room looks neat and organized :) I am loving this room so much I can hardly stand it :yay:

So far the room has been very quiet (I am very noise sensitive) but only time will tell as the night progresses. I have heard no toilet flushing sound, no guests talking in the adjoining rooms, etc., so hopefully, this is a good sign of what's to come :).

Oh, and the location is perfect- so close to transportation and Everything Pop. We've always stayed in 50's lake view, but I really like the 90's location better.

It feels so wonderful to finally be back at Pop on our FD BB and in our lovely room. Can't wait for the next 13 days!!!!

What do you guys think my odds are of getting building 10 by 10/31? I have preferred room and thinking this will be only possible option. Right now my requests are preferred renovated room and 70.s section.
Or if no hope I will switch my request to, 60's by baloo (where we stayed last time)

Is there any chance Pop Century has a soda machine that has Dr. Pepper? Last year we stayed at POR and there was a soda machine that carried Dr. Pepper, but we have never stayed at Pop Century so this resort is new to us. We have a fairly short visit so don't have enough to spend for any of the grocery delivery places, and could make it a few days without a soda (probably SHOULD try to skip it), but just wondered if anyone knew! Thanks!

Not sure what they have but I am a Mountain Dew girl. I will buy SEVERAL bottles at the airport before going to DME. So after my MD is gone I will drink Coca Cola!!!

If your talking about the soda dispensers at the POP food court than no they do not. I can't remember everything the offered, at it's always subject to change, but I believe they had Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite Zero, Fanta Orange, Rootbeer, Blue Powerade, Hi-C, Minute Maid Lite Lemonade, and Gold Peak Iced Tea.

Unlikely that they will have Dr. Pepper anywhere on site at WDW, but it is possible that they will have Mr. Pibb. Very similar to Dr. Pepper and I actually prefer Mr. Pibb (Pibb Xtra). You also might be able to find some at the soda vending machine at whatever building you are staying at? Two days after returning from our trip in June, I realized that a POP soda machine might have had some and regretted not thinking about looking.

It's really hard to find it any at WDW, only a few restaurants offer it and the occasional Soda Machine. I would have gladly paid a few bucks more for my refillable mug that used, or gave access, to FreeStyle machines. I need my caffeine fix, but two days in and I'm already sick of Coke. :rotfl2:

For anyone who need Mountain Dew (I do), they do have Mello Yellow, at the AoA food court soda dispensers. I don't like it as much as Mountain Dew, but it's a much better option than drinking Coca Cola. I had the same idea and looked for Mr. Dew at the airport this June and didn't have any luck finding anything.

Staying at Pop 3rd week of October and just received an e-mail about the renovations and construction. Do I have anything to worry about? If so, should I switch to Little Mermaid room at AOA?

Booked a standard room at Pop - what are the chances of getting a refurb room?

Thanks as always -

That is awesome! Do you mind sharing what room you got? I have been trying really hard to figure what building/room to request in December that would get me a renovated room and also a room that is close to transportation and the lobby area. Any help is appreciated! Enjoy your stay

Absolutely nothing to worry about! Pop is renovating their rooms and even those staying nearby don't seem bothered by construction noises. Pop is huge so you can request to stay far away from the renovations or you may wish to request a newly renovated room that has 2 queen beds, lots of storage and a coffee maker.

We're arriving in 5 days and I can't wait to be back at Pop again!

Anybody heard anything about the Gift Card for Housekeeping being back. On another site and someone said they checked in yesterday and were given the offer.

That is a real toughy. If they can match what they did on bldg 9 and get it complete by about a week short of 3 months, it will be open. If it takes the full 3 months or longer, it will still be closed (might open during your stay). Someone here has already reported seeing boards up suggesting more serious repairs needed (like bldg 7, which I think hits 3 months this week and is still not open). When they do get 10 open, they should start closing 5 (Baloo) shortly after that.

I really feel for our folks staying at POP this fall. It feels like it is going so slowly, and has been getting harder and harder to predict.

Simeobe checked in earlier this week and requested it but was told it's no longer available.

The person on the other site must have been staying somewhere other than Pop.

That being said, we check in Friday and I'll be sure to ask and report results here.

I check in on Tuesday and will be making my way to the front desk to check in. I was going to bypass it, but now with this possibly being back. I may stop by and also make sure my request is up to date.
