4/16-6/29 Toy Story Mania Facts & Discussion - NEWS: Ride Open w/Same Day FP (6/19-29)

Care to share?

Robo can probably describe it better than I can, but I now hold the trigger cord between my index and middle fingers and make the "come here" motion with those two fingers only, leaving my hand and wrist still.

This lets me ride it over and over again without the wrist fatigue that I used to experience.

My kids still love this ride and would be very disappointed if we only rode it once or twice per day.

Still no official word on if anyone has used DAS since FP has been closed? I know CMs have said you can do it, I'd just love to hear firsthand that someone has.

Rope dropped today. First at the gate. Let through at 8:30. Walked to the end of the street and held. CMs walked the crowd to TSM stand by line at 8:45. Off the ride at 9:10. Line was back to little mermaid. Wait was 90 minutes.
If you are planning rope drop make sure you are early.

The crowd got uglier the closer we got to TSM. Grown men shoving and pushing anyone and everyone out of the way. Almost had an all out fist fight when one guy pushed another off his feet into a barrier.

Having said that several people told me rope drop to FOP was even uglier. Haven’t done that but can only imagine.

Just curious - How early did you have to arrive to be first at the gate?

This rope drop madness doesn't sound safe or like a good use of time at all. There were reports just a few days ago of 5 minutes waits just before closing time on this ride. I'll think I'll stick with that strategy.

Just like the old days at TSM! I’ve seen it very ugly there too...a few years ago. Kids losing shoes etc. I don’t understand the pushing and cutting mentality.

I arrived about 7:45. Park listed as opening at 9.

Closing was my other alternative but I was wanting to end the day at Epcot so decided to suck it up and do rope drop lol

Thanks for the info. So it sounds like it took you about an hour and a half for one ride. I just don't think we would be willing to commit that amount of time to the attraction when there are more efficient options available.

Yes, I would say that’s accurate.

Rope drop TSM means arriving extra early. If you are here nearer 9 at park opening I think you will find the wait time already at an hour at least and maybe more.

Riding near closing makes much more sense if you can organize your schedule for that.

My kids really like this one and always want to ride it multiple times. Over the years, we've found that heading over there about an hour before close usually gives us enough time to ride about 4 times before they shut it down for the evening.

What makes this plan works so well is that the posted wait time is intentionally inflated at night to discourage late riders. The posted time is often 50-90 minutes with an actual wait in the 10-15 minute range.

I read on this thread or another that someone used it and they entered through the exit when they returned for their time.

Yikes. That sounds terrible.

I have a FP for TOT 9am-10am. I was planning on doing RD heading for TSMM first, then using my TOT FP before 10am. How worried should I be that I might not even make it out of TSMM by the 10am cutoff for my TOT FP since the queue gets so long so fast?

I was first through the tap entry and right at the front of the hold spot. With all the pushing and shoving there were definitely a bunch of people ahead of me on the standby line. I was out at 9:10 at which point the wait was posted at 90 minutes which I believe was probably accurate.

As long as you arrive early early you should be fine. But I have to believe that if you explain to the CMs at TOT that you were on standby for TSM they will be more lenient on fast pass times.

It looks like that was mentioned when the FP lane was still opened. They said that's how it was going to work. I just want to hear from someone that it actually did work for them! :-)

We just booked a last minute trip in May to visit to celebrate the end of a long clinical semester for me. We are looking at which FP to do, and TSM has it completely blocked out for any time of the year that we choose. We haven't been in a couple years and didn't know what the new policy was for that. Can someone tell me if it's closed due to TSL or if they are still doing it by who was in line for the FP kiosks? Thanks for the help.

Hi there - I moved your post to this thread. Post #1 gives a general lay of the land, which is basically that FPs aren’t available for booking in the system now through 6/29.

Obviously things could change, but that’s it at the moment.

Enjoy your trip!

Is this the first time to see the date range given by Disney officially?

Yes it is and seems to match up with the two reports we got in late March that May 8th may be the date they return. My guess has been they would wait until close to time to make sure the work is done before opening that back up. But good to see that official from Disney.
