I love credit cards so much!

So cancelling the SW card and then getting the United card so soon is at least explainable... your travel habits have changed and United works better. But I doubt that'll blip their radar.

Happy day for all you bonus getters today! :rainbow:

I keep checking to see if DH has the 10k pending for referring me to the CSR. Earning next statement.....12 points. Womp womp. I wonder if they are going to deny him the points? I really feel like they aren't going to give me my 50k as punishment for breaking the DD rule.
And I'm POSITIVE @miztressuz will never see her points for my now defunct CSP app.

I still haven't been able to make a $3k partial payment on my account, and it's not like I'm trying to cycle money or anything. I still have the 31.5k limit they initially gave me!

That's so odd on all accounts, and sorry you haven't seen DH's points. I did get points pending so I think it worked. It's supposed to be tied to the approval so I'd have thought you'd see points on his CSR now too. The only thing I can think for the payment is try to pay it from your checking account, instead of setting it up from Chase. I have no idea how to actually do that though :) I only pay my utilities from my checking account bill pay because they charge fees for CC payments. But I know other people have figured it out.

There is a DP in the r/churning DD thread that somebody was able to get a 2nd bonus on the CIP without waiting 24 months using the same SSN (no EIN trick, no special sorcery...just straight up applied again 11 months after earning the bonus). They canceled the other one first...

https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9h4720/daily_discussion_thread_september_19_2018/e6aafu1/

Proceed with caution if you decide to attempt it, but this one is pretty interesting...

Interesting, I'll have to check back on the question thread to see if that's the same poster I was reading not long ago. That guy had a CIP and got another through in branch app and was waiting for the bonus during the delay. If it's not, then I wonder if he ever got his now that bonuses are starting to pay out.

However, the best part of that stream was the CIPpy cup digression

Oooh, it's a tie between 1 and 5. I love an instant approval and always feel good once I get the approval and the card arrives. I hate deflecting bonus spend to meet MSR to be honest but do get super happy once the points post.

Redeeming is my ultimate exhilarating moment though. That keeps me on cloud 9 for days. There is nothing like booking a trip and paying for most of it with points. I am still in awe that we were allowed to book some amazing flight in a suite or with a shower, stay in a frou frou spendy hotel, experience an all inclusive luxury resort in the desert surrounded by endangered Oryx, bask in a bungalow over crystal clear water half way to the other side of the world, decide I'd like to see the Northern Lights in Iceland, spend long weekends exploring Scotland just because I secretly hope I may fall back in time through some standing stones and meet Jamie Fraser, fly to the opposite coast to see Hamilton, fly to Europe for a weekend to go see the Harry Potter play and whatever interesting adventure or insane idea is next and do it with point and miles. Holy run on sentence Batman! But you know what I mean.
I knew 5 would be high on your list LOL! You’re better at that than any of us!

Are you telling me I’m going to have to consider looking into this too?? LOL! I’ve been resisting thus far haha.

Yes, Mr. Cash is King :-) This should be right up your alley. Heck, I'm doing it and I rarely bother with any cash back strategies since I focus so much on miles/points but this is too easy to pass up. Hmm, this must be why you were prompted to consider it.

#5 - I hate seeing my points balances drop :-(

Well, there is that. Another reason why I like diversifying. When the points drop in one bucket I can focus on replenishing them and use a different bucket of points to redeem.

So American really needs to upgrade its computer systems when it comes to flight schedule changes. I booked nonstop tickets from BOI to Chicago (ORD) for our December trip to see Hamilton. Today I get an email from American about a schedule change. Instead of nonstop, our flights now each involve a stop, and instead of arriving in Chicago at around 5:45 p.m., the new arrival time is after midnight. Seriously? (The time change was a deal killer anyway, but since ORD is one of the few major cities we can get to non-stop from BOI, there was no way I was going to agree to flights with a stop.) So while on hold for about 35 minutes with AA to speak to an agent to voice my objections to this completely unacceptable change, in addition to checking out alternative carriers on Google flights (because my first thought was that AA had gotten rid of its nonstops between BOI and ORD), I decide to check the AA website. No, there are still nonstop flights on our dates with availability for 4 passengers with departure and arrival times within 1.5 hours of our original times. Really, AA??? Once I finally got an agent, she badmouthed AA's computer and promptly put us back on the nonstops. AA definitely needs to change its algorithm....This is the second time I have gotten notification of a really bad schedule change from them only to find that there is a much better option that the computer neglected to use.

Also, a DP in case this becomes relevant for anyone else. We are/were booked on SW flights to the Bay Area next weekend for the Cal/Oregon game. All four of us were on the same reservation. My daughter (who has NOT learned to love the football -- I'm not really sure whose child this is, lol, except she looks a lot like me) wants to stay in Boise to participate in a river cleanup event with her school club. DH was feeling guilty about making her miss it to attend the FB game since he pressured her into joining the club (any club) in the first place. So he decided he'd stay home with her. It wasn't possible to cancel just DH's and DD's flights online with SW. But it is possible if you call, and the agent even told me how glad she was that I called because she says a lot of people make the mistake of trying to cancel out fewer than all of the passengers online, and since it can't be done online, they end up cancelling their whole reservation for everyone and having to rebook. Not an issue if flight prices are the same (or have gone down). But in this case, the flights for DS and me would have been only $29 cheaper in total than the flights for the 4 of us (which I had already rebooked at least once to take advantage of a fare drop). So the agent was able to cancel out just DH and DD, and they now have a nice pile of travel funds. Of course, we've got some significant travel funds for all of us that need to be used by March 2, 2019, so now we need to figure out where we are going to go to make sure we don't lose out on those funds. Got to spend money to save money, lol...Sounds like Southwest needs to fix their system as well, though, to allow for these partial cancellations to be made online.

If 5) were modified slightly, it would rank up there too. But it would have to be scoring a great redemption (like Biz or First) that I wasn't sure I could get.

Totally agree. If I can get a good redemption, it's points well spent and I'll feel awesome. But if I don't get as good value out of the points as I know I could have, I'll look at that drop in my balances as having "paid" more than I needed.

I have to admit that #5 would be my pick. I'm not really a churner (or at least not yet). Every time we book First or Business seats internationally, paying with just points or miles, I get really excited. We find coach seats for a 10+ hour flight pretty unbearable, to the point where we'd rather wait to travel until we have saved up the points for a lie flat seat. And then when we are boarding I love seeing the smiles on DD's and DH's faces when they see where we get to sit. :cloud9:

Sometimes I have the attitude that “some things aren’t worth getting out of bed for” LOL. This one still might be in that camp for me haha. I think it’s a result of being in sales in banking and my attitude towards my bonus and compensation as a whole lol.

It will be interesting to see what happens with my RMN purchases. I only have one card linked to RMN. I selected the cash back offers for Walgreens, CVS, Home Depot, Staples and Kohl’s. I hit all those stores this morning but tonight nothing was showing as pending. Then I realized you have to link to card each offer (duh). So I did that after the fact. All the GC charges are pending on my CF. Hopefully it will still work.

So how does RMN give me the cash back? I'm setting up an account right now. Does it go back on my card? I read something about PayPal but it isn't asking for an account there. And how does it know that I spent the money there? So confused.

ETA - I'm online reading but it just doesn't seem like it will work. I guess I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I said this yesterday to somebody else too - I don't think Disney has anything to do with this. I appreciate the "tin foil" though, haha. Disney redemptions could not possibly account for a large enough percentage of Chase redemptions that they'd withhold URs for an additional 6 weeks while they implemented a change...right?

PLUS how many people were specifically waiting on that bonus to book their Disney trip? I didn't need my DD points to book my trip, I was just waiting for discounts to come out in Oct. I think the Disney changes could likely have something to do with the whole Expedia changeover (maybe). I'm chalking the UR delay up to either (1) a system glitch/issue or (2) and this is far fetched...but something related to Chase's plans to kill the Double Dip (but again this is far fetched in my mind).

At any rate - no disrespect to anybody who feels differently - I just don't think the Disney UR change had anything to do with delayed bonuses.
My bet is on an IT glitch that we will never hear about. Something similar happened with SW points in Jan and it took weeks for points that should have posted on 1/1 to post weeks later. I received my points from 1/4 before my 1/1 points. I know several of us were waiting for our CP to come through.

I have moments like that and similar feeling about the compensation plans. I'm also in sales but not banking, occupational safety industry. I do have days where I contemplate going back to pharmaceutical sales though.

50,000 URs now pending on my CSR!!! Wow I’m on cloud 9 - a successful Double Dip now complete. Super pumped guys... :) :) :)

u made me check... and its there too!
PARTY DANCE!

I checked AGAIN today and

Me too! Me too! Me too!!!!

Never pending, just right into the account. Yay!

Fun Discussion Question:
Which "churning high" do you find best/most exhilarating?
1) Approved for the card (you like me, you really like me!)
2) Receiving the card (yay the mail is here!)
3) Meeting the MSR (i.e. completing the last purchase to finish the MSR!)
4) Seeing the bonus points post/go pending (whew...they didn't shut me down or use the T&Cs against me, lol)
5) Redeeming the points (not the physical act of traveling, rather the on paper act of redeeming, lol)

Any thoughts??? Figured this might be a fun discussion for our group here :)

#4 for sure. Because until I see them in there, I am convinced I messed something up or a rule changed or I am going to go through all that for nothing. But then they come!!!!

I know when I cashed out, it automatically pulled up my PayPal account. I don’t remember doing anything.

It goes back on your card. You have to link a credit card on RMN. Then once you charge one of the RMN offers on your linked card it triggers the cash back to your card. I don’t think you have to use PayPal. I’m not sure what that’s about.

#1, followed closely by #4. I haven't been denied a card yet, but I always hold my breath while waiting for that decision. Who knows when the banks will decide they've had enough of me taking them for thousands of dollars in bonuses and not earning a cent of interest from me? And oh, I love seeing those bonuses post and watching my points balances grow.

#2 - Most cards have very "meh" designs and come in a plain white envelope. Not exciting at all. The only cards that have wowed me are the Amex Platinum cards (beautiful card, beautiful packaging) and the CSR (my first metal card), and a bit surprising, the Marriott Biz (because I wasn't expecting a sleek metal card).

#3 - Meeting MSR is a bit anticlimactic. Then the wait for the bonus begins. Unless I have another new card lined up, I'll probably keep spending on that card and other cards according to their bonus categories and offers.

#5 - I hate seeing my points balances drop :-(

Have you seen the Amex Cash Magnet? I think that one is a beautiful card.
