For me it's more that I've never gotten to do any AP event- dates just never worked. This is the first one that we just maybe can squeeze in and like the pp, the crowd levels have got to be better than what we're going to experience in late September.

We are in similar position and it was a big t of a surprise announcement and got me excited and now if it won't work out in the end will feel like a tease ... But not end of the world either

I believe the anxiety for most isn't so much the "will I get in" part it's the "can I plan a trip for the dates" part.
Getting a spot is only a small part of the hurdle, quite honestly
Personally, I've gotten in to all the AP events.
I haven't however, in turn, been able to plan a trip to fit the dates.
So that's the part that really needs the most advance notice, hence the most anxiety

Have you gotten into all the AP events by the same strategy we are using here? Just frequently refreshing? Or was it through sheet luck?

This, exactly. We've already got our trip booked, non-refundable events paid for, and absolutely perfect FP's set up. But...we're early so best case scenario for me is dates are close enough that we can extend our trip a few days or adjust the dates without doing too much damage to our carefully laid out plans. Lots of variables in play and for it to all time out will take a near miracle. Getting in is the relatively easy part.

I don't refresh at all. Don't see the point. I don't believe they'll update any of their sites as quick as someone will post about the email here. Never has before.
I got the emails from Disney for the TSL event
I got the email from Disney for Pandora but had already seen the link here and signed up when I saw it

Yeah, it’s just by happenstance that I might be doing the Passholder Preview. This is all providing that (a) it’s happening while I’m there from 8/15 to 8/18 and (b) if so, I get a slot.

This was one of those “booked on a whim” trips. I already had the time off scheduled to go to a conference I decided against going to, so I made these alternative plans. They had a great rate at the Pop and Delta had a very cheap flight from ATL to MCO, so I figured, why not grab my pass and just enjoy a nice long weekend in the bubble. And then they announce the previews about a week or so later.

So, I’m now experiencing a bit of FOMO for something I didn’t even anticipate happening.

We already have a short trip planned for 9/10-9/14 primarily for GE. We're staying on property so we can take advantage of EMH (6a-9a). However, my 2 biggest reasons for wanting this AP preview so badly is a) smaller, more manageable crowds and multiple MFSR rides, and b) the opportunity to be among the first to experience the new addition (I've never had that opportunity before). If I miss out, no biggie...

I completely agree with your reasoning. I have a trip with my mom and sister from 9/6 to 9/14, booked it last year before the SWGE opening was even announced. While if I don't get a slot, I do have EEMH since I’m also on property, but I loved the feeling of the AP Preview in Pandora, and I would love to have that same experience with SWGE

I'm not sure I understand this. If the registration link we are assuming will be used again, wouldn't it HAVE to be updated before the e-mails go out? Otherwise people would get the e-mails and would be directed to a link that says the even is sold out. If you are just talking about the parks blog, AP perks page, ect then I understand that. But if we are to believe they'll use the same registration link, it makes sense to refresh that one I'd think.

I'm sure the AP preview for Pandora was incredible. I've been a huge Star Wars (and Disney) fan for as long as I can remember, so I hope to be able to soak in the new experience without insane crowds. I've been to MK and Universal on private corporate events before, and it is stunning to be in the parks with super low crowds. I think even with EEMH the crowds will be massive in GE. Is this the first time they've offered anything like that (EEMH)?

Does anyone know why they wouldn’t roll out a reservation system like they did in DL? I know there’s more resorts in WDW, but it looks like the reservation system was executed flawlessly in DL. Maybe they could have a longer reservation window than DL?

Yes, this is it exactly. I have a short trip planned from August 16-18 for our granddaughter's birthday (she is not a passholder) and then I have a trip booked from August 28-31st in anticipation of the opening. However, if I were able to get the passholder preview, I would much rather do that and cancel the August 28-31 trip and avoid the crowds. Especially since EEMH aren't available for the first two days, that means I'm getting up early and fighting the crowds (I'm only doing this for my fiance who is the big star wars fan). The closer we get to August, the harder (and more expensive) it will be to rearrange things.
Luckily my boss at work is a huge Disney fan so I am pretty sure getting the time off won't be a problem but it is still stressful to have this much up in the air

You answered your own question . Because they can't guarantee entrance to all wdw resort guests in one day. This has been discussed in basically almost all other threads

Correct. But who said anything about 1 day? Could they not treat it like FP or ADR? The only way to enter is through a reservation, at least for the first 2 months or so?
