Another question (for my parents):

I stopped one step short of holding a flight for them. It's 2 passengers. The website says they get one checked bag for no cost. It does not seem to specify if that's one checked bag per person, or one checked bag total. Anyone know? They don't have any special United status.. Just Explorer MileagePlus he says.

Beautiful! That's sort of what I thought but I wasn't in charge of the last trip (I think we had 12 people and some ridiculous number of suitcases due to all the See's candies we took as gifts) so I don't know whether we got charged extra for any of them!

Also, if I may suggest, I see that LIH>PHX flight has a layover in HNL. Be sure to activate the Priority Pass benefit on your Platinum card so you (and two guests) can access the Hawaiian Airlines Plumeria Lounge (part of the Priority Pass network) in the Interisland Terminal. Yes, that's soft drinks, POG, beer, an espresso machine, wine, and usually some kind of soup and sandwiches available to you gratis. It's a quiet lounge; never too many people. My kiddo loves the Hawaiian Airlines little snack mix bags. I love the Honolulu Cookie Company shortbread cookies, but they weren't out when we stopped by last week.

I feel bad for everyone getting denied for CO Venture!! DH and I were both instantly approved for 20k and 25k credit lines. Obviously we’re never carrying balances or paying interest. DH’s last personal card before getting approved was the Hilton Surpass last July. I can’t remember what mine was, but it’s been a while since I had a personal card. The only thing I can figure that got us instant approval is DH’s first ever CC was with CO. It was closed long ago though. My mom put me as an AU on a CO card she got about 4 years ago.

So in poking around the United site (for my parents this time)... my goodness. If that's typical redemption cost for free tickets, no wonder the ANA redemption is considered such a fantastic deal! A RT business class ticket (no "saver" awards available for whichever dates I am putting in) is 155K PER PERSON!

Obviously I'm only in the preliminary stages but good grief!

I'm not an expert... but I used the United site strictly to find the flights I want on ANA. After finding the ANA flight I wanted on the United website, I logged into my Chase account, transferred my URs to Virgin, and called Virgin to book the flights on ANA.

It sounds crazy but... yeah.

I don't know whether ANA flies to Europe, but if they do I imagine you'd use the same process!
