Not a fan of Fed Ex

Had a Fed Ex delivery of some DGCards today while we were gone and I about had a melt down. I looked at my Gmail and it said they had been delivered to my house, left on my front porch, about two hours prior. So I get home, look around and they are no where to be found. We live on 30 acres of land so porch pirates are not an issue. So I go and look all around our yard, no where. Finally I went back down to my mailbox which is like 1,000 feet from our house and there they were.
No problem putting them there if you state that is where you put them. Don't lie about it. Uggggghhhh.

i feel your pain.

i have a front door, the numbers to my house are by the front door, there are steps that enter my front door, a light fixture and items that indicate it's used to enter/exit. i've had both fed ex and ups leave stuff off to the side of my driveway where they've almost been run over just b/c my garage has a door there. no steps up, no numbers by it-the out of the way walkway to it is is unlit and generally always covered in front by snow or leaves (so no foot traffic). my alerts will say 'left on porch'-ummmmmmm, that door has no porch!

LOL. I had an Aunt and Uncle that lived in a VERY VERY small town in Canada. My mom used to send Christmas packages and the delivery service used to make them drive 50 miles each way to the deliver office to pickup packages. Their reasoning, there were no numbered addresses, just a street name. My Uncle tacked the number "1" on his house, solved the problem.

FedEx stinks! They have literally rang my door bell and are gone by the time I get to the door. Then they claim resident not home for delivery and want me to go to the delivery center. Nope! I now use their FedEx manager and always have packages rerouted to my local FedEx store. At least it's closer than the delivery center. Weird how I never have issues with UPS. I wish you could pick your delivery service when you buy things online.

My son needs a book for school. The campus book store decided they couldn’t get it. So the prof told them to get it off amazon. Well it’s coming from the Book Depository and the date range they gave was feb. 11-19! He ordered it over a week ago. It says it shipped and I finally got a tracking number from USPS. But it just says label created, not yet in system. Maybe he will get it in time for final exams.

We don't get too many packages FedEx, but they always leave stuff at our house around the back of the house by a door that just goes into the garage. USPS and UPS leave everything by our big garage door and Amazon leaves everything at the front door. I have no idea why FedEx thinks that the random back door that he has to trek through the back yard with no sidewalk to get to is the best place to leave stuff.

We don't either. We get UPS, which most of the time is wonderful. But to get that 7-8% discount on those DGCards through Sams I had to use
Fed Ex. I bought both physical and e-cards. I might just try to get e-cards from now on.

My DD rents her books from Amazon and we never had an issue with getting it the next day or with delivery. Find the book on Amazon rentals and cancel your current order is what I would do. :)

We bought art prints on a cruise ship auction (several years back). FedEX literally left them in an empty trashcan in our carport. Of course they put a sticky note on our side door to alert us (this was before so much electronic tracking), which does not stay on the door. We could have so easily just thrown away a few hundred dollars worth of art!

Recently, we have had to deal with them saying we aren't home. We have Ring cameras on every door to the house, so we know they did not approach the door. We have to go pick up things. Unfortunately, one of my FIL's cancer meds has to come FedEx.

I've had this issue with UPS fairly often. I think it depends (much) more on the driver, rather than the overall service.

Anyway, according to (I think) Jeopardy!, Amazon ended its use of FedEx last year some time.

Or, more likely, he will get it by February 19. It was likely shipped using Media Mail, which is less expensive than First Class, but typical for books, etc.

Yeah, it’s finally moving. At least I now know it’s in Illinois. He doesn’t seem too worried about it in any case.

His professor has to understand there's a delay in obtaining books the college bookstore won't :furious: carry.

Does the school library have a copy, either in the stacks or reserves? Once I figured out my college library had many of the textbooks I needed for class, I probably saved $1000.

I suspect he didn't properly document where he left the package because he's not allowed to leave it in the mailbox. Technically it is a federal offense for anyone other than a post office employee to put something in the mailbox.

Agree. Definitely the driver moreso than the delivery service as a whole. We get UPS, FedEx and occasionally DHL deliveries fairly often. It's hit or miss whether the driver rings the bell, leaves it on our enclosed porch, or even outside on the steps. I just wish they would coordinate drivers and routes -- I see FedEx come through my (dead-end) neighborhood at least 3 times a day.

Yes he or she told them it wouldn’t be available. It’s The 6 wives of Henry VIII. I think he paid $10 for it. I’m going to guess there are other books they are using in the meantime. In any case the tracking says it is on its way as of 3:48 this morning from Illinois. So we should have it by the weekend I’m guessing and I can take it to him

Ya, I bet that is it. It was against the law. I guess he did it since was raining a lot that day, which was fine by me, but not being able to tell the truth sent me into extreme panic.

My delivery guys are always leaving packages on my porch without ringing my doorbell. :sad2: I’m home! Just ring the bell so I don’t have to worry about theft.
