I dont understand especially as there is no rhyme or reason to it. I go in one day and get $100ish in third party GCs, it triggers ID check. I go in the next week and by $500 in VGCs, nothing 🤷‍♀️

I don't mind them looking at it but when a store wants to scan it in their computer system - no thanks! Seriously, I refuse. Ask them to show you the actual policy. I'm a real stickler with my DL # and SSN#. If you're not going to write me a ticket and hire me, you're not entitled to my personal data.

I have been told I cannot do this by a cashier and manager at my Kroger. I still do it but use self checkout now.

Ack, I hate the differences in policy enforcement! I wasn't sure if they'd allow it so I asked about it first and the cashier looked at me like it was a totally dumb question and said yes that's fine, and then she took care of the whole thing.

Yes, I’ve been denied by two different Kroger’s. One tried and it was denied and another refused due to policy. I’ll have to try another location or self check out if others have had success with that.

You’ve used self checkout in this scenario? Interested in how this would go. Just use the card like a debit card and enter the pin at check out?

Newbie question - can I use the Happy gift cards at Lowes and Home Depot to buy Disney gift cards using the self checkout?

It would be about $40 cheaper through tickets at work but we wouldn’t be able to do monthly payments. I think we’re gonna go through disney because we could pay monthly, use disney gcs (right?), and we will easily make that $40 just from interest in our bank account. We get about $60-70/month.

Your bank account pays 10% interest?

You can try. Some registers allow it and some don't. Here in my area (MI - Macomb, Rochester etc.) it's a no go.

My apologies if this is obvious, but will a $100 DGC purchase at Best Buy earn the $10 off?

Yes, provided the terms do not exclude gc purchases. If you have this offer, read the terms. Am Ex. often has these offers for Lowes, HD and I've never had an issue buying a DGC.

EDIT To add: "Not valid for e-gift card purchases. Excludes corporate gift card purchases. " You should be able to buy a physical gift card. :thumbsup2

Had a 10 off 100 dollar purchase at Best Buy offer on my AMEX everyday card expires 3/31

I got this on my no fee Delta. Also don't forget this should stack with Best Buy current promotion:
Free $5 Best Buy Gift Card with qualifying purchase.
Spend $50 or more on qualifying gift cards and get a free $5 Best Buy Gift Card.
  • Uber
  • UberEats
  • StubHub
  • Harry’s
Remember, do NOT purchase e-gift cards, they offer $25 Uber Physical which needs to be mailed to you or picked up at your local store.
