Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

We're in debate about it! It's the latest in our The Great Debate series. I take it you stand on the side of Sports can run while Parks operate? I do too so if so welcome to the club. (If you don't think they can co-exist YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY WRONG WRONG WRONG.) :P
I’ll happily be wrong in your world. Just know, in reality, I’m right !!! :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

I’m sure they will get signed off on pretty quick. Sounds like the govt is giving them lots of latitude.
To me the next hurdle will be what is the fall out to whatever date they propose. They will need to have some time to manage the capacity issue. Like if not enough people cancel, what to do with ADRs, Plus if they are going to introduce the day specific park reservations we were speculating about. I hope there is real clarity soon but also hope The date coming out will be the beginning of whole lot more back and forth

Blaze pizza was awesome as always, and when we paid they gave us 2 little bags to put our masks inside while we were eating which was a nice touch

I have really been craving Blaze Pizza! I am waiting for the Disney operated stores to open before I visit though. I like the idea of the little bags!

one question . . . Was there adequate space for people to wait for the temp checks in the garage without being close to moving traffic? I haven’t been in the garages often, as I am usually coming in from a resort, but I don’t remember a huge space and with the six foot spacing, I am wondering what the capacity would be. The photos make it look like a maximum of 9 to 12 parties total in that area. Thanks!

Here’s the thing about closing off all of Disney World property for the NBA and MLS—DVC. They can’t open their resorts to guests (even professional athletes) and not open DVC to DVC members. That doesn’t mean they have to open parks, but they can’t make all of WDW a “bubble” for the NBA and MLS without having DVC members about and then why not just open resorts to others?

I believe Disney is going last so to speak, is because their plans are going to more complicated, and would take longer to present. I don't think they are going to not open the parks and resorts because of the NBA. It's not like they are going to be staying at a value resort. I could see them moving things around at Deluxe resorts, maybe at CSR.

It depends on how many rooms are needed. I saw one person estimate 20k rooms between the 2 leagues. This is for all players, personnel, executives, etc as well as their families. I don’t know how many people that will be, or if that number was extremely high, but even if it’s not that high, prepare for the worst and hope for the best if you have a trip through August.
Why would all those people need to come? The families certainly don’t travel with them normally like that, and I can’t imagine why high level execs would need to be there beyond maybe a TV camera wave at the first game.

Yes, they are not going to wait for the NBA to complete their season at WDW season to open the parks, no need for that as others have described.

There was plenty of room. An area was barricaded off.

Families don't normally travel with them, but players are also allowed to return home in between games. They wouldn't be in this scenario. No clue why execs would need to be there though.

Just back from DS, here's a quick trip report
Arrived a little before 11am to parking Garage Orange, temp check was very quick done by Advent Health staff, the test you right before you head towards the escalators into DS proper
Very big, visible force of custodians, only saw 2 "yellow shirts" just walking around
almost everyone was wearing their masks and face coverings appropriately, the places that had social distancing signs, people were using them correctly, if they didn't have any people were just queuing up as normal (saw this at STK)
Unfortunately experienced a guest relations CM faint, she was an older lady, she was standing under an umbrella by the coke store, security came quickly and they took care of her
Today was hot (feels like 93 right now) and I can tell you wearing a mask all day at the parks will be difficult, no doubt about it, if you are still planning on coming during the mask mandatory period be aware. Also having a mask kinda makes you forget about drinking water cause you don't want to take it off and on, so it makes matters worse. I was surprised all the kids I saw were wearing their masks without any fuss
I mentioned on my stream that although you can't really see peoples smiles the mask have become second nature to me, I guess I've gotten used to them
If you have any questions lmk

Thank you so much. Kids can surprise you aometimes
And I’d like to ask just one question and will be satisfied with a yes or no answer as to not inspire a rant or tangent. You said most were wearing masks. Did you see anyone without masks being asked to put one on and did they check at the temp check station that you had a mask? Thank you.

Does it really matter what happens with the NBA? Couldn't they just put them at one resort & the other resorts could be open for guests. Their "bubble" would be their resort & WWOS.

30 teams.. approximately 450 players & 60 alternates.. traveling with coaches, assistant coaches, security, medical/medical support staff (trainers/physio/psychologist) Public Relations & Media liaisons etc... approx 35 per team. So many people. And not as easy as putting them all in one Resort

Then add in Major League Soccer.... smh. 26 more teams & staff

For those concerned about the "Do not stand" signs, a video from Prince Charming Dev today showed far more "Stand Here" lines than the giant "Do Not Stand Here" squares.

Perhaps they are using the squares in areas they feel might get more congested...or in areas where the correct location to form a single file line may be harder for guests to figure out?? But yeah, as he walked around Springs, he showed a bunch of the white & red striped strips that say "Please Stand Here". :)

This may be the reason, outside of guest compliance, that the the mask policy wont last long. The health risk of wearing a mask in 90+ degree heat could be just as bad, if not worse, than not wearing one.

Blaze is the only pizza I actually enjoy so it was great to get back, also this was my first restaurant visit since March so it was extra nice
Yes, so what they did was to take 2 lanes usually used for parking inside the garage and block them for use on the queueing. A lot of space there, I don't think this will be a problem at all.
I am headed back Friday evening to see if its more packed because today the crowds were light and it seemed like 50% of visitors were vloggers :D so I'm interested in seeing how it shapes up on a Friday evening

so basically once you're inside the temp checking corral you have to have a mask on, everyone was wearing one so there wasn't a need to ask. But there are about 5 CM there checking you while you enter the "corral" area
as for those without masks walking around, no I didn't see anyone approach and ask for them to put it on. There was a heavy manager presence but not on the yellow shirt team which I thought would be the ones monitoring. TBH I only saw 2 people without the mask while not eating or drinking

I should've added that I obviously didn't know if she fainted from the heat, the mask or something else. But CM and guests fainting is not unusual this time of year, I see this happen very often every year at the parks. But yeah the mask won't help with someone having a heat stroke
