Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I am still unsure what to do. We have fully paid APs and have been able to use them twice in the past year. If I take the partial refund I can put some of that towards our big WDW trip in late 2021 (hopefully) but at the same time, with our March trip cut short because of the closure and things just being so strange the last few days before it when we were there, I am tempted to take the extension and try for Sept or November this year. I was set on the refund until this past week and I am really missing the parks.

Will you feel safe visiting the parks in a few months? Will you be okay with limited/no entertainment (parade, fireworks, shows)? Are you okay having to wear a mask for 12 hours? Are you okay with having your temperature taken and health questions being asked if you?
These and others are all questions you have to ask yourself. If you are okay with it then take the extension and enjoy your trip. If you aren’t then take the refund put it towards your WDW trip.

This is an excellent way to look at, thank you!

Also zoos, aquariums, casinos, and museums. No mention of theme parks. I can't imagine Disney making any sort of announcement prior to the state giving an okay.

But he did say that theme parks were phase 3, which is what we are in. I think they are waiting more on local health orders before making an announcement.

I went to ASU for college (Go devils!!). Today they released a statement saying that Fall Break is cancelled. The reason for the cancellation is to lessen students traveling. If you all know about fall time at DL, you know fall break in neighboring states bring sin heavy heavy crowds. I wonder if other colleges and districts will be doing this to lessen travel for their students? Maybe it would make the fall crowds lighter? Hmm...

I work at a university and the fall break has been a big hurdle for lots of places planning to be in person. Our school is just going online after fall break which is only two weeks anyways. I suppose the crowd question will probably depend on what happens... that second wave we keep hearing about in November/December sounds pretty likely. 😭

Very well said! We asked ourselves here similar questions to whether we should keep our October trip, or plan for next year. We had two trips cancelled already, and this was the third (October) that we cancelled. These were trips that we do every year. Very hard to cancel, but in our hearts, we know it was the right decision for our family. Every family is different. (((Big hugs)) to everyone. Hope we all get to our happy place when it is right for each one of us.

Highlights (not really compelling news): Standby/virtual queue at Shanghai has been limited to Winnie the Pooh, functions same as the paid MaxPass upgrade (but free), allocated every hour, first come/first serve, return with one hour window, last standby passes distributed 2hrs before park close.

Also, with no fireworks at DL, no need to close Fantasyland.

I wonder how many rides this will be used on at DL.

(keeps digging for more Shanghai info)

The state said counties can start moving to stage 3 on June 12. City of Anaheim posted this graphic on Twitter. According to it, Disneyland can start reopening right now if they want (Downtown Disney and hotels have been cleared for reopening) and the theme parks themselves can open June 12, as that is when OC will move to phase 3.

We are not in phase 3 yet. Phase 3 officially begins June 12. They had said June 1, but that was limited phase 3 (basically, they allowed some businesses previously categorized under phase 3 to open early).

I’ve read some rumors, but haven’t seen official word, that they are not going to allow park hopping at WDW when it reopens.

Do we think the same will apply at DL also?

Watch very closely to what they are doing at WDW because it is very likely to be very similar (the same) at Disneyland. As far as park hopping, I do not think that it will be allowed. You will make your reservation for the park of your choice and that is the park you are allowed to visit that day. They have to (will want to) keep much tighter reign on park numbers right now.
