AP holders from NY, NJ, Conn

I'm from NJ and even though Murphy hasn't yet initiated some of the updates to the quarantine mandates that Coumo has recently, I *do* expect he will soon follow suit. For that reason, I did some research this morning. Those in our family, who are going on our mid Sept trip and who are employed outside the home, fall under the "essential worker" exemption as defined by the State of NJ. I have everything documented and saved just in case a contact tracer calls.

Don’t think that is the only reason people are questioning the restrictions. I am from CT and don’t understand his reasoning. We from the Tri-State area have the lowest numbers around and can’t visit Florida without quarantining but if you live in the hotspots of Texas, Arizona and California among many other you can visit Florida unrestricted. That is what the problem is. If the Governor is worried about the awful numbers than he needs to take steps to prevent infected people from entering the state from other high number states. Also, not everyone wanting to come to Florida has a trip to Disney planned.
Also from CT!

From what I understand in NJ the quarantine for 14 days is voluntary / recommended. However, in NY they are hardcore.

From one of my FB groups:
Just an FYI...
My cousin’s friend traveled to a “hot spot” state and then returned home to NY. Upon arriving home, the sheriff showed up at his house to make sure he was self quarantining (tracked by his EZpass). If caught not quarantining, you can face $1,000 in fines and up to a year in prison. Not sure if our lovely state is doing the same thing.

That sounds like some made up FB talk. NY is not sending sheriffs to peoples houses to inquire about self quarantine. Cuomo has staff at airports to have people fill out questionnaires when they arrive. If you don’t provide your information you’re given a summons that carries a $2000 fine. The self quarantine is being run on the honor system, the most they’re going to do it make periodic phone calls to check up on your quarantine.

Perhaps. This isn't the only place I've heard about them following up like this. I don't think I'd want to test it.

Yeah..I have to call shenanigans on this one too...I live In NY and have known people travel to "hot spots". No one has had anyone show up. I find it hard to believe sheriffs are combing through EZ pass records and showing up at people's houses.

From somebody who works airport security trust me when I say definitely not! 🤣😂

Murphy is currently giving his daily press conference and just posted the map below. DeSantis has a press conference scheduled for 2:00 PM.

DeSantis via Twitter: "I am making a major announcement at 2:00 PM. Tune into @floridachannel or (his facebook page)"

There are protections in place to prevent Law Enforcement from browsing EZ Pass data under normal circumstances. I suppose under the current crisis there may be an exemption, but generally agencies need a subpoena to access specific EZ Pass accounts.

I'm from NY and have upcoming October DVC trip booked. APs started 3/06/20 and extended to 8/01/2021.
If the travel restrictions aren't lifted before Sep. 7th I will have to cancel or risk losing my points. At that point I guess I would cancel our APs also.
Is there a time limit for cancelling APs?

They will give you that one month extension of the pass automatically if you don't request the refund. Might be a good idea to get clarification from them before you cancel your DVC reservation. Also, DVC is waiving holding, but again, there has been no expiration on that change either. Depending on when your point expire, you still may be able to wait and bank.

Clear as mud.

Thanks. I just looked at the email I received from Disney about AP cancellation. It says I can cancel by clicking my personal link before August 11th.
This is going to be a tough decision.

Has anyone been in intact with Disney to see if AP holders from quarantined states are getting an extra extension for the months we cannot visit per the governor’s orders? We cancelled our July trip due to that restriction and now are hoping to visit in September. I never get responses from Disney on the emails I send :(

Negative. I have family members who were denied and were in the same situation you were. They cancelled July and rescheduled in December. Passes expire just prior to their December visit.

You should try calling though to plea your case.
