Official October 2020 Thread!

Do any of you have car rental? I have a reservation but i was looking at July/ August they are so desperate Ace rent a car is $5 a day.. I am thinking as it gets closer we might see rates this low. Mine is 22 a day currently with ACE but I have to change companies because our flight comes in at midnight and they are not open till 6am.
I'm planning for a car rental but haven't booked one yet. That's an incredible price. I've never booked with ACE, are they good?

90 days until our trip. As of right now we are planning to go. But I waiver on it everyday. Ultimately With wearing a mask I feel our risk at Disney is the same risk we have going anywhere even here at home. So might as well go to Disney.

I dont know, the only down side it is a bus ride to the car rental place but I dont mind for $100 or more difference. I am also considering Fox car rental they have a 4door jeep for $22 a day.. really think the kids would like that. With the parks closing early or opening late I really think we will like having a car.
I have been reading reviews and people seem to like them.

We were thinking the same thing.. but we are in Texas also a hotspot... the airlines, hotel and Disney, Everyone is wearing mask cleaning all the time...
When I am at home I am surrounded by people who are to inconvenienced by mask and or gloves..

SAAAAME. We're 12 weeks out and have a backup trip booked for end of March, just in case. My brother lives in Viera, FL (about an hour-ish east of Orlando?) and seriously wants me to reconsider October. Let's just say it's really out of character for him to take things like COVID-19 seriously, so we'll see.

I have 12.5 day rental, compact car, Alamo through Costco. $507. In normal times, the rate would decrease closer to the time of rental, I have no expectations that will happen this time. I have a DVC rental and an AP, so free parking at resort and parks. (Also a Universal AP so free parking there too)

Just rechecked the rate today and it would be $50 more. Still very much on the fence if the trip will even happen.

Thanks for your prices.. it really helps me. :)

I had a trip in March, moved to August, now moved again to mid/October. It’s hard to imagine the situation getting progressively worse in Florida between now and then so I am guessing it will either be better/steady or parks will be closed. We are staying at Ft Wilderness for the first time and I think it sounds great for social distancing plus we will be able to cook some meals if we want. We are driving so will use our own car to get around. Hoping for the best but at this point I am prepared to cancel and rebook again if we have to.

October 26 - 30 for me. Staying at POP. Hopefully cooler then. Would go now, But Just TOO HOTT!!

To contrast, I had a 12 day rental in Florida in Feb, 2020 for $290.
I have been checking them for Oct 3-14 and they seemed high to me. I just changed my flights to 9/26-10/14, flying into Sanford out of MCO saved me $300. Got a van for $850 w/Hertz. I think I had a SUV for $900 when we were just going 10/3-14th,

We are hoping for cooler weather as well..
I remember planning October.
Aug/Sept. Are hot and hurricane months..
Looks like we made good choice with the first week of August there is a hurricane.. even if its not directly hitting central Flo its going to bring plenty of rain.
Now that I am getting closer to the 60 day mark Im starting to watch rental car rates.. and we added a night at the end to get a cheaper flight so I need another night of hotel. .. I think it will be offsite we will see.

67 days to go for us and we are watching the Florida COVID rates closely, as we are coming from Western NY and have quarantines on the arrival side and return side of our trip. Hopefully we won’t have to reschedule again, but if we do, we will probably try for MLK weekend - my niece is a teacher with limited time off so we try to go on holiday weekends.

We made dinner ressies through Open Table for Wine Bar George and Raglan Road, and I’m going to make one more for lunch somewhere at MK. That’s all I can do for now but at least it’s something!

I make ADRs in 2 days for a trip that may or may not happen. I wish we could get excited....

We are still on the fence.
I would love to hear your reasoning/thought process.

We have about 3 weeks booked. Bonnet Creek/Boardwalk/Beach Club. It all sounds wonderful. But then I start thinking.......
Also have park reservations so no issues there either.

Right now, I figure we still have 2 full months. A lot can happen but no vaccine for sure.
Mask compliance appears to be good at WDW, but not Disney Springs.

We postponed our July trip to October and we still hope to visit. At the moment our flights are still showing as scheduled, our ESTAs are in place, so we are just waiting for news of the borders opening and the U.K. FCO advisory being lifted. We have made APR and will make ADRs mid August.
It is mandatory to wear masks in Wales, so we are used to that and from what I have seen in vlogs and read, I am satisfied with the precautions WDW and UOR are taking. My daughter and I are also in good health, not overweight etc., so not in any of the high risk categories. We may, as a precaution, get tested before we travel.
We are looking forward to the trip, perhaps not in the same way as other trips, but we enjoy each others company andI know we will have a great time and make memories. We are realistic and know that we may not be allowed to travel but at the moment, we are choosing to remain optimistic.

We are still going. Our flights were cancelled about a week and a half ago, but I was actually happy. The flight was the part that made me the most nervous. We can control (to a certain degree) our park / hotel experience by just leaving the area if we feel uncomfortable. They tend to frown on that on a plane in flight :goodvibes .

So, we're going to drive down from PA. We managed to snag 3 nights at Hilton Head Villas before our Copper Creek reservation and then booked 3 nights in Charleston on the way back. We've decided to just make an adventure out of it as we've never been to HH or Charleston before. I also think having the car at WDW makes me feel better about the trip overall. If we decide Disney transportation isn't a good idea for us, we have the option to go our own way.

We have talked about driving.. car rental deals are really good right now so we would not have to take our own car... I feel really good flying American Airlines at the moment with hepa air filters and everyone wearing a mask I think it may be safer than shopping at Walmart. I am from Texas and we have high c-19 numbers and I can tell you why..
All the fools that are inconvenienced by mask, general hygiene and people still living life like normal... I feel very safe if I stay in my Disney Bubble. I dont think we should stay to far away though.
We are not taking Disney transportation.. airport to resort/resort to airport.

We're from PA too and on the fence about going; we were always driving down so no planes to deal with. Problem is my wife is an ICU nurse and can't afford to quarantine when we get home if FL is still on the travel advisory list. I think if things don't get better soon we're going to have to cancel.
