Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I just got a call from Disney resort guest services and was informed our upcoming January 2021 stay at the Beach Club would have to be moved to another resort. I was given the choice of the YC or the BCV. I took the YC. Price remained the same. The castmember said there is no date planned to reopen the BC for 2021 at this point. I was very shocked.

Wait really??? I just dealt with my September stay, haven’t even thought my January backup would be in danger!

Wow. I have april 2021 booked. What to do... I’m going to wait to see if Stormalong bay opens up because if it doesn’t, I’m not sure I want to stay there

After yesterday's Q3 FY20 Earnings Results it's apparent that Disney is expecting decreased resort occupancy in the coming future. For how long no one knows. Keep in mind that WHEN things change for the better Disney can opt to reopen the Beach Club Hotel. (Beach Club DVC remains open.)

I'm sorry for all those that are being shifted to different hotels. Remember that eventually, things will get back to normal and we will stay at the Beach Club (Hotel) once again.

As for Stormalong Bay and other amenities reopening, that will be decided when the answer becomes obvious/workable to Disney. It stinks but that's where we are.

Stay Strong, Stay healthy. This Pandemic will not last forever. We can get through this.

I can't believe they are offering BCV for January. That seems a little short sighted from the perspective of managing their DVC inventory.

I don't think that DVC inventory is filled. Demand may not be there from DVC owners. I'm guessing that if there were to suddenly be a surge for DVC demand Disney would shuffle guests in some way to an additionally opened hotel.

Weird that the higher ups think people would book up Y&B without SAB. Sometimes I wonder what the IQ is of some people that make these decisions. You have to open up the amenities to book $400+/night rooms. :confused3 :teacher:
There’s no way I’m keeping the reservation if SAB isn’t open. That’s partially why I booked it

Another issue is they limited our borrowing capabilities. I was looking into upgrading and staying at the GFV but while I have the points, they won't let me borrow the amount I need due to temporary limits placed on DVC owners to allow those with cancelled reservations to be able to use them before year end. That might be limiting some people and not helping fill the DVC properties.

Please forgive me if this has been addressed... I can't find it. Are there any other pools that are opened for B&Y club right now? Quiet pools? We aren't visiting until December but we always love taking a swim break in the afternoon. We choose Beach Club due to easy access to Epcot and Hollywood. They moved us to Yacht club. I always thought Beach Club was more popular. I was surprised it will be closed in December. Thoughts?

I assume they chose Yacht because it will already have been open from the NBA so they won't have to get a layer of dust off of everything etc. Currently the quiet pools at BC and BCV are open. I haven't seen anything specific but I think it's safe to assume that some pool will open at Yacht Club based on what they've done at other resorts; either SAB or the quiet pool, or both.

Because the 7 month window for Spring break begins on August 27th. Once August 27th rolls around, BCV will be done. I have a rented Poly stay (on rented points) and then I booked three days at BC through Disney. I didn't want to rent more points in case CO-VID closures occur. I didn't think anyone would be calling me to reschedule yet. With someone being called for January- I am sure I will get called. But I don't want YC or BCV if there is no Storm-a-Long Bay. (I have an April 2021 stay).

It's not even close to full. Almost every day has all room types available in September. If SAB were open, it might be a different story, but who really knows. I'm sure the estimates are based on bookings across property, so it sounds like we won't be in the big pool any time soon.

That person was asked about January though. What’s availability like then? I thought DVC was pretty booked from mid-November on?

January is a little more "normal" looking although still some days with studios, the most popular room type. (I don't want to get into any more detail per disboards policy.)

People have been cancelling within a month or two of check-in, though, so time will tell if those bookings hold up. Unless there's a better treatment for covid, I'd venture a guess that many of those will cancel as well.

Yes, even the castmember was surprised. She put me on hold after I questioned it just to double check it wasn’t an error.
I was told when I called to reschedule my BC and BWI reservations that those resorts, the all stars, and Port Orleans resorts will probably not see an opening date for a very long time. It all depends on how the other resorts are booking up, and since there is no sign of any of them coming close to filling any time soon it looks like it's going to be a while. I'm think things would change if they opened up the pool and stuff, but I'm sure they have their reasons for not opening SAB yet. I have two stays at YC booked, and I honestly am not a pool person so I don't care, but I know it can really affect who wants to stay there. So if demand isn't there, and why would it be, why open? Hopefully they are surprised, things improve, and they open up sooner than they are expecting.
