Question becomes now, since the Flex (CFF?) is a replacement for the CF, do we think they'll keep the bonus criteria separate? Could someone have received, or sneak in, a CF bonus and still get the Flex on launch?
Ok, after looking at the TPG article, they suggest that No, can't double dip CF and CFF.

"Flex is considered a different product from Freedom Unlimited, so customers with that latter card will also be eligible for a welcome bonus with Flex. The same does not apply to existing Freedom cardholders, unfortunately — if you’ve already earned a bonus for that card, your best bet is to call in for a product change to Flex instead."

Since I never earned a "bonus" on my CF I had always planned to pick it up again at some point just for the bonus. Sounds like I won't be able to hold a CF and apply for a CFFlex. Other than it's a Visa card, off hand I can't think of why I'd want to hang onto it. Will have to think on this more as more info comes out.

Ok I have to say, just so funny how many different bits of info are coming out that don't match up with each other!

First, everyone has a different date for when benefits become effective and sign ups can start:laughing:

MC says 9/15 for the new benefits for all cards, Chase says 9/13 for the CFU change, and has 9/14 as the launch date for the CFF.
Here is the Chase landing page:
https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/freedom/comingsoon
Second, I'm not sure TPG is right about the CFF bonus if holding a CF card. All the offer language states is "this card" and doesn't mention the discontinued CF card. Chase even says you can hold both at the same time, but obviously isn't forthcoming with logistics on that. So this could be interesting to see how it shakes out.

MULTI-CARD
Can I have two Chase Freedom Flexservice markSMcredit cards?
No, you cannot have two or more Chase Freedom Flexservice markSMcredit cards.

Can you have Chase Freedom® and Chase Freedom Flexservice markSM?
Yes, you can have both the Chase Freedom Flexservice markSM and Chase Freedom® credit cards.

Can you have Chase Freedom Unlimited® and Chase Freedom Flexservice markSM?
Yes, you can have both the Chase Freedom Flexservice markSM and Chase Freedom Unlimited® credit cards.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if they are going to up the Sapphire cards on dinning because honestly I am going to pull my sapphire from my wallet and just use my freedom unlimited for any dinning purchases. And then just use my sapphire preferred for travel stuff.

Has anyone recently disputed a charge with Chase?

I bought a "no returns" product from Amazon and it's completely inedible (it's gummy candy that has been fused together, maybe by heat? Not really sure) and since the seller is being supremely unhelpful I decided to dispute the charge. I've only done that once in my life.

When I use the Chase website (which is where I assumed I should be able to do it), it says to please call them to finish it.

Is this new since Covid or has it always been that you had to call? I swear the time I did it years ago, it could all be done online.
Have you called Amazon? I have always found them helpful in these kinds of situations!

I had not, but I am chatting with them now. Thank you for the suggestion.

I don't usually have issues with anything I get from Amazon, so this is a first. I even succesfully received the Agents of SHIELD poster that I ordered from China (with zero reviews... I NEVER do that!) and it's exactly as described and of pretty good quality! So this is definitely weird for me.

On another note, we took a short trip to Durango this past weekend. I had forgotten that I had attached a Starbucks offer to my BBP, so I "redeemed" that offer, plus a couple more of those $5 small business purchases credited, which was nice.

Looking for thoughts on my credit report/credit score. I applied for and got turned out down for the CF in June - the letter said because I had too many recent credit inquiries. Here’s what my credit report shows:

Capital One - Nov 2018
Chase - Feb 2019
Chase - July 2019
Chase - Oct 2019
Chase - Jan 2020
Chase - May 2020 (CIP - declined)
Chase - June 2020 (CF - declined)

Other than credit inquiries, my credit report is spotless. I feel like I have so few cards to compared to so many people. Is this really a lot of inquiries? And what would you suggest on timing to apply for the new CF Flex to improve my chances of an approval??

The reason you got declined is because you are at Chase 5/24. Chase only allows you to open 5 credit cards (no matter with who) in a 24 month period. You won't be eligible until ~November of this year. So I would look to apply for a card in December to be safe.

I'd think they have to otherwise why would anyone keep the csr aside from the 1.5 with the portal, which I never use. The pyb at 1.5, unless they extend it, will eventually end and people will get back to redeeming for travel.

If amex would just make their airline credits easier to use these decisions would be easier for me.

I’m actually just 1/24 - I should have mentioned that those are a mix of personal and business cards. I only currently hold one personal Chase card. The 3 other Chase cards I have are business cards. (And the Capital One was a credit limit change, not a new account)

Keep trying if it doesn't get resolved. I had to chat 4 times with amazon before I got a refund on something a seller was refusing to refund (it arrived 2 weeks late and was no longer needed at that point). Each time an amazon rep would tell me that they would contact the seller to provide a return label, after I'd repeat the entire story to them. After the 3rd time of that being their solution, and no response from the seller, I finally got the refund. Each time having to repeat the story.. It was only $13 but I was tired of the runaround, so kept at it. :D

Well in that case you would probably need to call the Chase Recon line to find out why.

Agree with Bigmace, you could call. I was denied for a Chase Freedon Unlimited a month ago despite having a credit score over 800. Chase has tightened up some, they counted a credit limit change on a business card in their credit inquiries that counted against me, even though I am below the 5/24 card limit.

I'm sad that I've used all 20 of my small business credits. It was really easy to spend on my beach trip plus around here and for about $250 spend, I got $100 back so 40% return. This time around I'm really wishing I had more AU cards - I was using the one I got for DD when she was a kid - she has her own cards and only uses the AU when I tell her to pick me up something since it's billed to my account.

I literally interpreted your comment as "chat" (vs calling) with Amazon, which I didn't know you could do! So I went onto Amazon and lo and behold there is a chat button! Which worked out great because I accidentally sent a Kindle gift book to the wrong email address, and they were able to take care of it over chat. So thank you! :thumbsup2

I literally just got my Freedom to complete my trifecta last week. I can't with today.

I would hold onto the Freedom as you can't get it again, and by trifecta, are you talking CSR plus?CIU? Sorry I've forgotten? Right now I'm waiting for 5/24 to release me - I have all 5 of 5/24 dropping shortly. And if for some reason I don't get approved for a CSP (with bonus) when I'm ready, I'll try product changing from the Freedom. Then, once I have other ducks in a row, the Flex may be an idea. But, I have a lot of the Flex's perks in other cards right now, so I'm not jumping and biting. Amex is being real good to me and I'm collecting 10X Marriott and 10% in dollars on an Amex. So Chase is a player for me, but not going to make them number one right now.

CFU and CSP are my other two. I never messed with biz cards, too chicken since I don't have a legitimate side hustle or anything. Before Covid hit I was waiting to upgrade my CSP to CSR in November when I hit a year (I signed up for CSP for the superior SUB) but not sure it's worth it now.

From what I understand you can get your card changed from a Freedom to a Freedom Flex, so just give Chase a call when the new card is live. The sign up bonus is the same value so there is no negative.

Yeah, reading the DOC article calmed me down lol. As long as I can still get my targeted signup bonus (and it sounds like I can) I'm fine with the added changes. I misunderstood initially and thought they were replacing the rotating categories instead of just adding new ones.

I would probably wait to get your sign up bonus before product changing it be on the safe side.

Personally I just applied for the CF today (and insta approval) AFTER hearing that they were taking it away. If I understand correctly I can get the sign up bonus for the CF and the apply for the CFF later and get the sign up bonus again. And if not ill just product change it.
