What do you hope "stays" post-Covid?

2 big / easy ones for me:

I think masks should always be required at the doctors office / ER / urgent care. I have always hated going in for a sprain or just for a regular check up and coming home with the flu or a cold. (Has happened to us WAY more often than not and we are immaculate hand washers / sanitizers). Why should healthy people be sitting next to someone hacking their lungs out? Seems like we should have always been doing this IMO.

Curbside everything! lol
I love sitting in my car while someone puts my Kohl's order in the trunk!

Since apparently hand washing is new to many, I hope that continues!

I agree with you about the masks for all patients in medical facilities and I also hope that mask wearing in general is seen as more socially acceptable. It's a hard balance though. I don't want to be expected to wear a mask year round every where I go because I have allergies and occasionally sneeze or cough, but I do hope not to be looked at like I'm a crazy person if I put one on during my asthma triggers of extremely cold weather or in times of poor air quality.

sorry but nothing......me personally I dislike the whole term pre-covid. NOT to be religious here but it reminds me of historians and whoever referring to times as BC and/or AD which again I think is a tad different.

But it is dinner time and I could be a bit hangry. ;)

Telework...has helped me out to have my spouse getting back 2 hours of his day, especially once I got my cancer diagnosis...

Acceptability of masks...these also help me out, but I really would like to see us go back to normality, but for those who want to wear them (like me in flu season or when I'm feeling run down) to not get the side eye. One of those - no more mask rules, but you be you rules.

Staying home when sick, even just a little (and masking up if you totally can't stay home)...please, that's the only thing that I'd really want to stay (see it helping me above:))...

Virtual Dr visits have been the absolute best thing to happen for me because I normally hide from Nov - April for Flu season and now there is no barrier. I still put off testing but if there was an issue I could theoretically be coaxed from a distance by a provider I know so it's safer. On the other side of it I think this is much safer for providers since they aren't put at risk during the triage process and can see far more people in a day. I'd like to see outdoor pop up labs but maybe that will come once tested by the outdoor vaccine facilities.

As I understand it, the practice has really helped the marginalized and single parents who had a tough time getting to facilities. I bet it's good for psychiatric care and all too because it's more private and nosey neighbors don't see people coming and going.

The one thing I appreciate it tele-doctor visits. It's much easier not to have to take time off work and sit in an office waiting and waiting when it's just something minor or for a checkup for refills on medication.

I'll third this, I do like that they started that. My daughter had to have an MRI last year and then 2 follow up visits, but both follow ups were tele med appointments which was very convenient for me since I didn't have to try to find someone to watch the other two.

Only other thing I can think of is take out for more/wider variety of restaurants.

I can't think of a whole lot of things I'd like to keep, but there are some:
  • Everyday hygiene awareness has certainly improved, and that's a plus.
  • I also notice more courtesy and more awareness of personal space than we used to have.
  • Telemedicine has been a plus for me, but I can see how it could expose docs to more liability. I think we'll have to find a comfortable middle ground there.
  • Increased use of Facetime, Zoom, etc for personal stuff has been a plus.
  • A lot of businesses have greatly improved their customer interaction by expanding their online capabilities. But I also see a lot of "virtual assistant" junk that is nothing more than a help-link bot.
But for me, the downsides of the pandemic restrictions I've imposed on myself, hugely outweigh all of the above benefits. Retiring from home is really awful, and I can't wait to get back to a more normal life.

I hope we continue to not hug, kiss or shake hands = so unsanitary.
This has been a serious social crisis in Miami! Seriously, it has.

In Miami, there is NO hello without a hug. None.

We don't know what to do. The stupid elbow bump cannot be described out of respect for DIS posting guidelines. But nothing takes the place of hugs here in The Magic City.

And not only that -- hugs are graded here: for willingness, duration, appropriateness, quality, and comparatively with what we observe with other attendees at the event!

If the hug doesn't measure up, we get, "Babe...you mad at me?" Or, "I noticed you gave Consuela a really nice hug..."

[ETA: Don't misunderstand this. Nobody's looking to wrestle or hook up. This is how we say hello. You have to get the hug right -- for that recipient, in that setting, at that moment. Too much is worse than too little.]

Miami needs our hugs back!

I've been in more doctor's offices than I can count. Raising three kids, transportation for an elderly FiL, occasional trips to ER for DW, and have never come home with as much as a sniffle. Now, if you would change it to "people who are sick wearing masks", I'd entirely agree with you.

Like other posters, I’d like to see masks become acceptable when sick. The other thing is the distance. Not with my family/friends of course, but if I don’t know you, please don’t stand so close to me that I can feel you. Don’t breathe down my neck while we’re line. That’s always been a pet peeve of mine!
