New CDC Outdoor Guidance

Your last paragraph spells it all out...Disney will remove the mask mandate and it will become voluntary for those who want to wear them - soon.

I really think its coming soon, within a couple months at the most.

People will continue to get vaccinated - some children will also, although not as many as the CDC would like - given the low risk. The US has done it's part - it's just a matter - a short matter of time before this is an non-issue. The population has had it with masks and social distancing - you can't put the horse back in the barn on this one - it's over. And you would think that everyone should be happy it's coming to an end???

This is so true. The fear that this has created for some people is going to take years for them to dig themselves out of.

I see WDW throwing open the gates on capacity before making any mask changes. But with summer coming (and basically here temperature wise in FL) I do hope they find a way to drop the outdoor mandate ASAP. Regardless we have to admit Disney is going to have a heck of a time policing things now.

Oh they are going to have a really hard time, especially once they increase capacity some more. Plus I really expect sea world and universal to drop outdoor masks very soon. By July people are going to have a lot more places to travel where they won't have to wear a mask or only minimally. Also by July heck sooner then that all their employees will have been able to get vaccinated or not so Disney will have done the job of protecting them since with the reports out today from the CDC they shouldn't have to worry about getting sick or really spreading it either since its very very low risk. Many of the employees are probably ready to ditch them too, because while many guests don't like wearing them in the parks outside I can't imagine many of the workers are liking it either and they know this summer is gonna be miserable if they keep the mandates around.

A lot of opinion being thrown around as fact in here which is when threads get closed!

I have followed CDC guidelines and will continue to with this new update as a fully vaccinated person. What this all means for Disney, especially immediately, isn't really clear is the only thing we know for sure.

Edit: to be fair I don’t know every single guideline and we did travel to wdw which probably isn’t recommended so maybe not every guideline!

For the record...i wasnt trying to start anything, seriously.

I just have concerns over some things being removed when everyone hasnt had a chance to get a vaccine.

I'm sorry if i came across as a jerk, wasnt meant to be.

..even vaccinated people may have reasons for wanting to continue to use a mask, ranging from a different tolerance for risk to regular contact with someone who is immunocompromised. Dr. Anthony Fauci said that "they [who will continue to wear masks] shouldn't be criticized," while [White House pandemic advisor Andy] Slavitt said that "as a rule, we're anti-side-eye."

Just wanted to make sure everyone realizes that some may chose to wear masks after business start to lift their restrictions and there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't think any one has said they care if people choose to wear them its that they are ready for the mandates and restrictions to go away and allow personal responsiblity.

Some only want to follow that they agree with.

The same people on my social media feeds yelling follow the science for the last year are now the same ones saying the CDC is insane to give this news out today. Apparently we’re all going to die, numbers are going to go up, we’re going to have another wave and be shut down again.

When I asked I did wear a mask however we’ve been told mass not needed then it was no we need a mask then it was no we need to masks now it’s no Mask need again just had enough of the entire situation I am ready to get back to normal

The scientific facts are what I am following - children present less than 1% of the risk - I am not disagreeing with your opinion, however, the science simply does not support the continuance of wearing masks or social distancing. There will be those who argue the facts and that is fine - wear the mask, social distance...most of us choose not to - and follow the science.
In my county children under 10 have made up 5% of COViD cases. I haven’t ever seen that children are less than1% of infections. I’m talking about herd immunity. Herd immunity is different than risk of hospitalization/ symptoms. I’m agreeing that children are less susceptible to infection, less likely to transmit, and less likely to have complications/hospitalizations. But you still have to take them into account for herd immunity...

People are asking how can Disney check that you are vaccinated. To me, that's not the point of the CDC guidance. It's not to give you a way to prove to another entity you don't need a mask and might could fake it. It's about "proving" to yourself that it's safe to do something. So the CDC has now told you that this is the way to make sure you're safe at Disney or anywhere else.

The purpose of the mask mandate at Disney is to make sure they are doing everything in their power to keep you safe. If the CDC has said, you're safe if you get a vaccine, there is no point for a mask mandate any more in my opinion. I went online to make an appt for my 13 year old today at a Walgreens. There are 10 in my town and all had 20+ appointment spots for TODAY. If you want a vaccine, you have had every opportunity to get it at this point. Only the under-12 crowd can't get a vaccine at this point and we know their level of risk is extremely low, but certainly you can still have them wear a mask or even not come if you feel like there's too much risk. It's now a matter of personal responsibility for your health and risk and time for companies to follow the science and guidance and stop mandating things.
This exactly!!

Masks.. yes I'll be glad to see them go.

Social distancing not so much. I liked not being in shoulder to shoulder crowds and people breathing down my neck. Never liked crowds pre covid won't like them post-covid.

Less than 1% for the US. I will choose to let the facts stand where they are...children are more likely to get the "flu" than Covid.

Totally agree.

That's what we've heard for months - "Disney will drop it's mask mandate when the CDC recommends it".

Are people going to stand by that?

If so, WDW needs to drop the mask mandate for vaccinated people RIGHT NOW.

What? Studies have shown kids can spread it. Teenagers are just as efficient spreaders as adults. And while rare, younger kids can transmit ( it’s just less likely). There are several case reports of kids be the patient zero. So it is based on % population for herd immunity. Herd immunity is not factoring likelihood of being symptomatic or being hospitalized (all of which kids are at decreased risk).
But teenagers can be vaccinated so anyone a little kids spreads it to can be vaccinated except other little kids are it very rarely causes serious illness in them.

Well...It he

I agree 100 percent if you want a shot get one it’s easy to get now

But at Disney you are amongst friends! Some may even say family! ...LOL, sorry, just had to.

I could not agree more. Hopefully Disney reads this post.

Ya, possibly the one thing I would like to remain. Also, masks in the bathroom, fully onboard but for reasons having nothing to do with COVID.
