New Disney World AP Pay and get less?

I thought this thread was about all WDW AP's, not Florida. I got confused! The prices looked great for me living in WA state.

Don't overlook this tidbit...

"Please note as we continue to manage attendance to provide a great experience for everyone, at any time, Annual Passes may be unavailable for purchase."

So they can "sell out" too.

But, they did add in this "generous" benefit (insert sarcastic eye-roll here)...
"We’re also introducing a new look for the Annual Passholder program to honor our past while looking forward to the future. Using a piece of the original Walt Disney World Resort logo as a foundation for bright colors and energetic design, the program’s new look puts Passholders right in the middle of the magic."
THANK GOODNESS! What ever would we do without a great LOGO???
But they added the Ren & Stimpy version of Mickey in order to give it a contemporary look.

Can I get a discount if I stick with the old look?

Execs said early on park reservations were here to stay. IMHO they do that to scare people into buying their tickets early. They used to have FP for that but without it they need a new reason to get people to commit to tickets.
The biggest selling point for reservations is that it gives Disney a lot of valuable metrics as far as how many people are planning to attend a park on a given day, which helps a lot with staffing, etc. But it also allows them to limit attendance without having to "close the park" like they used to have to when they reached their attendance limit (ie, Magic Kingdom on Christmas), which was a lot of an organizational nightmare. (If someone can't get into a park, far better to stop them in advance, and/or essentially push them to another park.)

I wish the other levels were available for out of state guests, at least neighboring states. We are in Georgia and it would be nice. Once again, disappointing but I guess they want these options to be discouraging. They probably do not want to offer them at all.

Reservations aren't necessarily terrible, but as someone mentioned, its easy to use that as a block out date for passes without anyone being the wiser. Not to mention, no one really wants to plan where they will be on vacation. Worse those is the reservations came with park hopping only at certain times. That really threw a wrench in our last trip as we couldn't just go elsewhere that day without checking into a park. When its an epcot reservation that no one knew would open at 11am, you basically wasted half a day.

DL's AP options are way better, if only because out-of-state folks can actually get a blocked-out pass.

I mean, I never want to go to WDW during the busy season or on most weekends - I would gladly pay less for a blocked-out pass. Instead, my only option is to pay for all of those busy periods, too.

Looks like I get to keep my free parking. I have a Silver so I wonder what their plans are for those

Do you have to have a blue card for the DVC member price? I thought I read somewhere that some people were able to get it even thought they bought resale?

Good question, but I don't know. I luckily bought resale right before they started those stupid restrictions.

We currently have Weekday Select Passes, so I'm relieved about these things:
- a pass at a similar price point still exists (I was really worried that this category would go away altogether)
- parking is still included (this would have been awful to lose)
- summer is no longer blocked out (this is an amazing upgrade for us)

We never had photopass so we aren't experiencing a loss there, and our renewal price, IIRC, is just about $25 higher than last year. Not nearly as bad as the increase in other categories.
