I normally don’t do weekend polls, but I wanted to today so I can wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe New Year 🎊 :grouphug: 🎊
Thank you for all your kindness when participating in my silly little polls. There’s only been a few incidents of people getting heated about a subject (the 2022 St. Patty’s Day poll for those that remember that one - the only poll to go 10 pages - crazy - LOL!) which is nice, because people can participate without feeling like they’ll be nitpicked or judged. I enjoy reading your replies every day and even though I don’t reply a lot, I do read them. My main time to DIS is first thing in the morning, and then throughout the day I’ll take a peek, but I don’t have much time to be posting and peeking. I look forward to spending 2023 with all you good people and I’ll keep doing polls as long as I don’t run out of ideas - LOL!

On to the poll…….

Will you be staying up until midnight this year?
Will you be having a toast with someone?
Will your toast be with champagne or something else?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I will be absolutely staying up until midnight (watching Resort TV1 on YouTube - they’ll be at Epcot all night), but my DH will stay up until NY time, which is 11:00 my time. I think he bought some champagne so we’ll have a toast when the ball drops in Time Square. This is the first time we’ve been alone for NYE and it’s kinda weird and I’m not sure how I feel about it. In the past we were either at our neighbors or had family and friends at our house. Our neighbors are going to a wedding tonight and our parents would rather stay home, which why it’s just DH and I. It’s a very different NYE here, but we’ll make the best of it - everything is what you make of it.

Happy New Year!

DH and I will be up past midnight. I plan to be hanging out in the family room with a roaring fire watching Fred Astaire/ Ginger Rogers movies. If you get the "Movies!" Channel tonight's schedule includes Carefree, Top Hat and The Gay Divorcee.

Around midnight we'll switch to ABC for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve and do a champagne toast.

Edit- DH and I almost always stay home with the kids for New Year's Eve. We've been married 20 years, we've only gone out to parties a handful of times.

I will be staying up with husband and daughter who leaves to go back home tomorrow.

We will eat a lot of junk food for dinner into the night flipping channels …lol I like CNN with Andy and Anderson because they are funny, but will flip to watch the ball come down to Ryan Seacrest at midnight. My daughter likes to hear the music on that channel too.

Won‘t be toasting, drinking isn’t our thing . But do have a lot of noise makers and hats for when we used to go out to New Years parties.

I'll probably be awake.

We're hosting a get-together earlier in the evening. We call it our Nearly New Year party. It started when the kids were infants/toddlers...we'd have a family get together and "ring in the new year' at 8 or 9pm (6 kids + parents + grandparents)... so everyone could get home before it was too late. The kids are all 18+ now, but everyone still seems to want to do it. We even have 4 out of 6 college students coming... and a couple of them are bringing significant others. (I think they still like it because there's still time to go to a "real party" afterward... but that's OK.)

So we'll toast the new year with sparkling grape juice at 8-or-so. If we toast at actual midnight it'll be with whatever we have on hand (probably water for me and decaf coffee for DH!)

Happy New Year, @slo, and to all my other DISboard friends!

We will more than likely stay up until midnight, but we usually stay up until midnight, so that's not a big deal either way. DH and I are going to our friends' home for dinner and probably game night, but this year it's just the 4 of us, not a NYE party/gathering, so I'm not sure how late we'll stay. We'll probably come home around 10, toast the New Year at midnight with DD and SIL (who are both at the end of a covid-isolation), and go to bed. I think DH bought champagne, but it might be Prosecco.

Happy New Year @slo and all my fellow Dissers! I enjoy your daily polls, @slo and appreciate you doing them.

It’s just my husband, teen son and me tonight as my husband has Covid. We’ll stay up until midnight and we’ll toast, but probably wine for me and whisky for my husband. I can’t drink champagne at all. My son will have sparkling grape juice. We’ll switch watching Anderson Cooper/Andy Cohen and Ryan Secrest and whatever movies are on tonight. I’m making several appetizers to snack on throughout the night.

Forgot to add - we’ll FaceTime with our daughter who’s working tonight and living back at her college town.

I love your polls and I appreciate you so much for doing them ! I think they are great fun !
Yup I remember the 10 page poll 🤣👍
Please keep doing them SLO - you have no idea how much people look forward to them and YOU ❤️❤️
Thank you my friend :goodvibes❤️
That was a crazy poll wasn’t it?!?!
I just looked it up - it was 11 pages and about corned beef & cabbage. Who would think that corned beef & cabbage would strike up such and explosion of posts :confused3. I’m looking forward to seeing if this topic gets this much attention in 2023 - LOL!

DD19 and I were watching them at the MK last night as my DH was 🙄 as we were dancing with the dance party - LOL! So much fun! Now her and I want to go celebrate NYE Eve at the MK and NYE at Epcot one year soon. Such a blast!

I always stay up past midnight on nights I don’t have to get up for work the next day. I’ll switch to a countdown program a few minutes before midnight. That’s the extent of the celebration.

We will be up and will be toasting with champagne. Having the neighbors over as we do most years (we canceled the first COVID year as DD was just getting over it) and another year for a stomach virus that was going through the house. Now for this year one of the two families have canceled for a miscellaneous virus. She tested negative for the usual suspects but nevertheless is feverish and sick and staying home. Party just got a lot smaller (and quieter).
