Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

Thanks for the info!

I wonder what room view type they will actually start with.
Well, some of us think/hope that because all the BW view villas are blocked from mid-September to mid-November they’ll be working on those villas and the P/G view villas across the hall from them at the same time. Then the standard view villas are blocked from early January to late February, so we think/hope they’ll work on those villas plus the ones across the hall from them at the same time. That would pretty much cover the whole resort, although obviously they won’t be completely finished by end of February, and just because the exterior work is finished on BW view and then standard view doesn’t mean the interior work will be completed at the same time.

And all of this is complete speculation - Disney hasn’t said anything, just blocked the villas from being booked, as above.

Not sure if it helps but just back from a stay in a 1 bedroom villa at Boardwalk last week. Was on the 5th floor with a garden/pool view. On one of the last days, a hotel worker came to the door to ask to look at the TV because they were surveying what plugs each TV has. When she was in the room we got to chatting and she said that they were hoping to begin renovations on the rooms like mine in August with completion by November or so. I'm sure that's more of a general timeline but that's what she said.

For the record, I enjoyed the stay but the rooms really need upgrading. Even simple things like the plug options (USB, etc) really need to be updated. Still had a great stay.

I miss having Redgie there. I understand why he can’t be there, but I loved chatting with him when the lounge was slow. He shared so many cooking tips and we would share garden photos. He was one of the CMs I really looked forward to seeing in the lounge.
Do you know what happened to Redgie?

We really appreciate your news and help- Can identify with what you wrote, as we had a bad experience at Animal Kingdom Club Level a few years back! It was after Covid, crowded, and quite a circus in the mornings...... Breakfast wise- the Grand Floridian was amazing....everyone loved the Chef's Mickey Waffles with strawberries and whip cream. (Kids at heart when it comes to that!) LOL Overall, Innkeeper sounds like a nice quiet atmosphere for relaxing and something needed after a stressful year! Wish we could have met Redgie as he sounded like an exceptional Cast Member. Does he still work for Disney?

One other question...is the Innkeeper Club Level Room a far walk from the elevator? Wondering, if we have to check out early and our flight is late, can you come back to Innkeeper for a drink and snack while waiting to leave for your flight and would restrooms be nearby to freshen up from the Park?

Thanks so much!:)
He does still work for Disney, I asked on my last trip. They had to remove the chef due to fire code regulations.

The club is on the 4th floor. They have rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor. Plus the cottage garden suites. The rooms run down one hallway to the end of the hallway so you can be away from the elevator. We often stay in the cottage gardens which require you going to the first floor and outside and I don’t think those are far so I may not be the right person to answer but I find the footprint of boardwalk to be smaller than a lot of the other hotels.

If you're asking about the walk between the lounge and the elevator, I think it took us ~30 seconds. Yes, there's a small restroom on the left side as you enter the lounge.

We usually take the first flight out so I don't have an answer for your other question.

Thank you for taking the time to share- this really helps with our trip planning!:tink:

You can access the lounge on checkin day as soon as you arrive, even if you room is not ready. You can use the lounge on checkout day until they close that night, even after you check out of your room. We often take a late flight on checkout day and use the club after checkout.

We have had so many wonderful memories there. The CMs there are wonderful and feel like friends. The one memory that will always stand out is my husband proposed at MK before the fireworks. When we came back to our room we had some amazing pixie dust. There was a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and the nicest note signed by the club level CMs. The next morning they had champagne waiting for us at breakfast to toast our engagement. It is not something I would have ever expected, but it is something I will never forget.

I hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy it as much as we do. Happy to answer any other questions.

What an unforgettable Disney Moment!!!🎇

Several of the lounges offer children’s food items. I have seen them at GF, Poly, and beach club. In the 10 years we have been staying at boardwalk I have never seen a kids menu offered. I find boardwalk to be more adult oriented than the other lounges ( both in food offerings and the lounge set up, there is no kids play area) which is one of the reasons we go there (kids are grown). On our last trip the only kids we saw were two older teens who came in really early for breakfast then headed to the parks.

When boardwalk had the chef they had Mickey waffles. I have not seen them since they removed the chef from the lounge. They did still offer the mimosas bar and Bloody Mary bar on Sunday on my last visit. :drinking1
There is a kids table and chairs in front of the TV.

There is a bit of a walk to get to the lounge from the elevators. There is a very nice rest room right outside the lounge you can freshen up in.

The new lounge (2023) has children seating but I don't remember seeing them in the old lounge. Our kids haven't used children furniture in a long time so we wouldn't have noticed them back then anyway.

I took a picture of the children seating because they're so cute. They're infront of the TV.

Old lounge in 2019, same area in front of the TV.

Edited to add that I'm probably the only person who prefer the old looks to the new one.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I'm glad that the cooking in the lounge stopped. I really disliked how smoky the lounge was in the evening. The hall often had a terrible lingering fish smell. It was off putting.

Oh- thanks so much- Yes, I wondered how this would all work- as we are new to the location of the Boardwalk Club Level- Appreciate the info. very much!!!:earsboy:

If we spend our check out day at the pool, is there showers there to take a shower and to change into clothes? I know the GF has shower facilities near their pool, just wondering if BWI offers this?

I'm with you. I hated when they cooked in the lounge. I felt like I needed a shower and change of clothes after leaving. The fish smell in the hall was very strong as soon as you walked through the innkeepers doors. The food was a lot better though. We stay there more often now that they don't cook in the lounge any morel

Was thinking of possibly booking a room here for next year. I just saw a refurbished room video at BWI. First, I'm not an interior decorator. Second, I'm not from NJ either.

I watched the room tour and honestly, I don't see turn of the century Atlantic City style and themes in the room. When I think of the NJ boardwalk, I picture amusement parks, ice cream carts, bikes, and games/frivolity.

Don't get me wrong, the room looked cute but am I crazy that this theme or style doesn't look like turn of the century Atlantic City? And, yes is a perfectly acceptable answer to my question. :)

I don’t disagree that the new rooms are not as Victorian Boardwalk as they were before. BUT after many trips there, I am thrilled to move away from the plaids and yellows and reds. It’s nice to have a different vibe even if it means sacrificing the theming.

ETA - I’ve done a poor job articulating it, but essentially, the elements of Victorian style - heavy, darker, rich - are not elements that are very popular now, so I’d rather have less of that in the Boardwalk and more clean lines and surfaces with a few touches of Victorian here and there.
