Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

If we spend our check out day at the pool, is there showers there to take a shower and to change into clothes? I know the GF has shower facilities near their pool, just wondering if BWI offers this?

I think they have showers in the gym

There are definitely showers in the fitness center. You can change and store your belongings in a locker, spend the day in the pool, and return for a shower and change prior to departure. We have done this many times over the years. Shampoo, conditioner and soap as well as towels and wash cloths are provided.

I thought the theme was 1920s-30s NJ Boardwalk, as opposed to Victorian or turn of the century.
I have no idea. I just went by the art work from the rooms, and I just guessed it was older. The picture with the Boardwalk and the other one with the carousel.

I liked it so much I had to buy it and hang it in my house when the announced the refurb. Haha.

I may be basing my impression on the photos they used to have in the elevator lobby and elsewhere in the building. And on the original decor in the villas, which changed in 2016. Our first stay at BWV was 1996, and those memories persist!

Thanks. My kids will be at HS and I will tell them to come back for dinner. How were the dinner offerings? After dinner they can have a snack and rest a while and then go back to HS for a few hours. Maybe see fantasmic!
Doubt they’d have time to rest, remember DHS usually closes around 9pm, but they should definitely be able to come back for food and return to the park.

I don't see turn of the century Atlantic City style and themes in the room. When I think of the NJ boardwalk, I picture amusement parks, ice cream carts, bikes, and games/frivolity.
Those features are located on the Boardwalk. They have boardwalk games, ice cream, food carts, surrey bikes and other true boardwalk features.

I think it would be a little overkill if it extended into the resort rooms.

Hello! Can anyone currently at the Boardwalk Inn or recently stayed confirm all of the construction going on? We're planning on arriving on August 10th and we're just curious of what to expect. Any updates/info on the actual resort or the actual Boardwalk itself would be great.

Thanks so much for your time!

We stayed July 2-8.

There was some construction going on in between the main building and the cottages. Nothing that was loud or bothered us. They moved one of the construction vehicles and it looked like they were just doing painting and freshening up the landscape.

The only main thing was the cake bake shop. I enjoyed our stay and the construction didn’t take away from it at all.

The Official WDW Boardwalk Inn website page provides: "Experience the charm and whimsy of turn-of-the-century Atlantic City at this waterfront Resort hotel."

I'm not sure how to reconcile the "turn-of-the-century Atlantic City" hotel theme or story that WDW is advertising to guests. That being said, I'm not an expert interior decorator. I'm not from NJ. I don't consider myself a fashion forward individual with a great eye.

My general point was that I was when I watched the room tour I didn't see the story being shown as advertised. It isn't that the room is ugly or anything like that, I guess story telling isn't as important any more at WDW.

I realize this isn't a Contemporary resort thread but the Official WDW Contemporary Resort website page provides: "Retreat to this ultra-modern Disney Resort hotel and discover award-winning dining, spectacular views and dazzling pools." WDW is advertising the Contemporary as ultra-modern and having dazzling pools. I haven't thought of the Incredibles story as ultra-modern (more art deco and retro) and I would never describe the Contemporary's pools as dazzling, because they are among the most plain pools on property in my opinion.

Hello. Can someone who has been to the bike rentals recently tell me how many 2 seater surrey bikes are available to rent on the boardwalk? I also see estimates of 30 minutes to ride around the lake - is this reasonable? Thanks so much!

I haven't rented a surrey bike, but I hear that part of the ride around the lake is up hill. You don't really notice when you're walking, but apparently you do when you're riding those things.

Its that bridge that ends up at the split as you're walking from Boardwalk towards Epcot...left towards Beach Club, right towards International Gateway...and I notice it since my legs and back are in perpetual stress when I am there ;).
WDWNT (might be blocked) just did surrey bike races and that hill always crushed them.

I don’t know now many bikes are available, but regarding timing it definitely didn’t take 30 minutes to circle the lake. Pretty sure it was closer to 10 or 15 and we weren’t going particularly fast. I can see it depending a lot on how many pedestrians you get stuck behind.

There are two uphill parts that I found tough but they are over pretty quickly.

Guess the vibe of the room doesn't come across in videos. They can't get the feel or details well at all.
It is very much still turn of the century to me. But I am rather fashion forward and have a pretty decent eye. Though I'm not from NJ

They very much nailed the refurb, more than many have lately

The resort itself is very quaint. You have to be there to absorb its charm. 20230704_213024.jpg

Feels seaside to me.

It’s possible they are referring more to the exterior, as opposed to the interior of the resort. As a lifelong Jersey girl, I think they nailed it. 😊 Maybe these will help you visualize a bit. Hope they help!
