~ºoº November 27, 2010- Western Magic! ºoº~

A little background:
I work for the US Department of Justice in the National Security Division. I am an intelligence specialist. That's about all I CAN say about what I do. Our "big boss" is the Assistant Attorney General (AAG) for National Security. He only answers to the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General.

I am being awarded an Assistant Attorney General Award for Excellence in support of the mission of the National Security Division(NSD). I'm still a little in shock. I have worked there for 15 years. My time predates the NSD and I'm used to "if you aren't an attorney, you don't count".

Now do you want to know the downside? The awards ceremony is on 2 December! :lmao: My boss (not the AAG) told me he would approve me canceling my leave....I just laughed at him! I told him I will think of them as we tooled about the Caribbean!!!

Anyway, I am still employed and can still go on our cruise...I just have an additional thing to celebrate!!!

First of all - how cool is THAT job?? Hopefully, you've already profiled all the nuts on our boat (and will go easy on us). :lmao:

Secondly, CONGRATS!! What an honor!

Thirdly, I'm assuming your response to your boss' approving your cruise cancellation is ... :rotfl2:

Love it! :goodvibes

Tonya - so good to hear about your mom. Keep your chin up. Nothing heals more than positive thinking!!

Ok, so am I the only one who hasn't packed yet?? I guess I like to live on the edge ... although I've NEVER been accused of that before. The weekends are just too nutty to get any packing done. We took DS to our annual "holiday walk" yesterday and DH and I had our usual "date night" where we walked 2 miles to our "downtown" area for dinner, kicked back with some hot cocoa at Kaldi's and high-tailed it back in a lot less time (since the temp dropped about 20 degrees from when we left). Today was a whirlwind as well, so I'm leaving our packing to Wednesday afternoon when I will finally have some time to myself and have time to make my cherry cheese brownies for Thanksgiving. I guess you all must think I'm completely insane. That, I'm afraid, I've been accused of all too often.

Anyway, just want to say safe travels to everyone who's leaving soon ... can't wait to meet you all!

For the rest of you who are sticking around 'til the last minute like us, have a great week and Thankgiving!!

What is the address and requirements for sending a package to the ship. Preferably where is the link with all of this info? We need to send our FE gifts down ASAP!!

Yikes, just finished DD8 birthday party with 16 girls in a little spa with mini mani and pedicures. So, now can work on the packing. I know something will be left behind. But, the FE gifts are laying on the luggage.

It's on the Cruise forum page FAQ sticky.

In case you didn't find that info here it is:

You can ship a small box.

Boxes Sent to the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Why is it when you have tons of things to do, like say.....packing for a cruise, everyone wants you to go to their house for supper? :confused3

I guess on a positive note, we do have our suitcases sitting out in our bedroom. I think the dog is more prepared to go to the kennel. :rotfl:

This got both myself and my hubby laughing. We are in the EXACT same situation. I got the bags out and now the dog is walking around with her head down. Too funny, I thought we were the only ones NOT prepared for this! Can't wait...till we are all packed.

Guess everyone knows what we'll be doing Thursday night!

Hey everyone. My wife Cindy and I are cruising with you. We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. This is our second cruise. We took one on the Wonder five years ago in December with our two daughters. This time, it's just us for a week! Really looking forward to it..

First--Yeah, you are all in my book ... I'm watching you....:cool2:

Second---thanks

Third---no, my response was more :lmao:

I just had someone offer to fill in for me, I said "at the ceremony/" and he said "no the cruise"...I told him I didn't think Sulley would be all that thrilled to celebrate OUR anniversary with him!!!

Nope, I have some stuff stacked up on the guest room bed and the suitcases are in there....but that's it! This past weekend was SUPPOSED to be quiet, but NO.....anyway, we will get there and we will have clothes to wear because if all else fails, Sulley has Friday off...so as long as I put everything out for him, he will get it into suitcases! :thumbsup2

Your not alone on the packing. When I do laundry I do set aside what I know I will need so I don't wear it again, but other than that nothing is packed. We got another bag of dog food so like others have said, they are better packed than us. We are waiting until Wednesday night and Thursday. We are talking about the cruise more and more and can't wait until its time to board that plane.

Well 3 more days and a wake up for us. Now if we can just make it through the next 3 days.

I will be lurking today, but need to get to work. Hugs & kisses all.

Working working working....but this time next week I will probably just be able to move again following our Palo's Brunch!!!! :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day today! Work is crazy again, but somehow, easier to take as this is the last MONDAY before our trip, I only have two full and one 1/2 days to go....Big family party on Thursday with the grandkids and kids....:dance3:

Have a fantastical wonderful day!!!

Omg! I'm so glad I just found this thread. This will be DH and I 2nd disney cruise. We are also taking DD 4months. Hope to see some fellow Disers

Welcome to the newbies! Where have you been all this time? :lmao: Just wanted to let you both know that we are planning a "get to know you" meet at the Promenade Lounge at 3 p.m. on boarding day (Saturday), so join us so we can put screen names to faces. And don't be strangers. We still have a couple of days to chat here!

Jeff, we will wave to you as you are getting off the ship. We board on the 4th...

Had a bit of a scare, and thought we were going to have to postpone this trip. I have a lump on the back of part of my lower leg, that last week the doctors were guessing was either a bug bite (gone bad) or a blood clot. Due to the coloring and nature surrounding it, they went with bug bite and put me on a week's supply of antibiotics. Well, as of yesterday the lump was still there in full force (although the redness has diminished incredibly). So, back to the doctor this morning who still wasn't certain to rule out blood clot...and also thinks it could be an achilles tendon issue. He sent me off to the hospital for a round of tests for a blood clot, and we were really preparing to cancel at this point. Thank God for no blood clot! (Not because we would have had to cancel...I'm flexible and would have rescheduled if necessary. I was happy because of an insane fear of hospitals, not to mention my aversion to anything blood related - odd as it may be, I am a blood donor though...go figure!)

So, now still waiting to see what's going on with my leg...but back into full-fledged packing mode!

FIVE DAYS!!!!!!!

Yikes!!! Pixies they get you treated and cleared up!!!

I'm freaking out now, but then, what else is new? :lmao: So much to do, so little time, and NOW my attorney is telling me to stand by in case I have to sign papers on my Dad's estate...told him that IF he doesn't have them ready by Wednesday so I can sign and send them back on Friday,(my Dad's house is in GA) they would have to wait until I reached WDW on the 4th of Dec...my Dad passed away two years ago Dec 9th....ummmm, NOW????:sad2:

Welcome to our new families! You joined at a very chatty time, that is for sure! :thumbsup2

Cindy - glad to hear no blood clot and you are still joining us!

Jeff - thanks for letting the newbies know about our 3:00 meeting in the Promenade Lounge!

I had no time at work today to check in with my cruise friends...crazy busy this last week! However, the due date for my project got extended again, now it's due 12/3. SO....while I will do whatever I can to get it done before I leave, I am not in that much of a panic now that there is a whole week after Turkey Day for my team to finish it off. :woohoo:

DH just pulled out some different carry on bags, trying to figure out how to pack everythingand have an empty suitcase available for the stop at ABC Liquors before we get to port! :cool1:

I am thinking of packing the snorkle gear and FE gifts into a smaller carry on and put that in a larger one so we have an empty rolling case.

I am sure I will be working late tomorrow, and I'm exhausted tonight, so the rest of the packing will probably be done on Wednesday afternoon...I figure if I am missing anything, we can try to find it at Key West at the CVS...or perhaps I'll venture out on Wednesday night. We have clothes, bathing suits and sunblock, and cash/credit cards. I can't be missing anything else vitally important. :rotfl2:

I am 1/2 day ahead of Steph (who has a WAY cooler job than me)...only 1 full day and 2 half days of work to go before I can leave the cold and head to the land of the sun and the Mouse! :dance3:

I really won't be stress-free until I log off on Friday morning and get ready to head to the airport mid-afternoon!

Welcome, Jimfoto & Disneymommy! Glad to have you on board w/ us!!

Cindy - So glad you're still coming. Not sure if you ever watched "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." If so, maybe you should soak it in some Windex?? :rotfl: No, seriously, hope you get better real soon. I hear vinegar works wonders on bug bite??

It was a really rough day at work. Came home to a glass of wine and a table all set by my thoughtful hubby. Saturday can't come soon enough!!!

Have a good day, folks!

I was a busy gal working at DAK today 830am-730pm. It was fun to be busy and see so many families on vacation.

Cindy, glad it's not a blood clot...hopefully it all goes down and gets all better by Saturday.

Welcome to the new folks joining. I just booked this cruise about a month ago, so I am new too.

Tomorrow night is DH 10 year WDW anniversary dinner, so we get to spend the evening enjoying plently of food and beverage at the Contemporary Resort...practice for next week.

Packing for us will be after I get home from work Thursday night while DD is spending the night at grandparents. She still has no clue we are going on a cruise Saturday! After work Friday, DH and I will come home, pack the car, and then pick up DD at grandparents. Since our dog will already be down there from the overnight, we are scooping DD up and heading straight to CI & S at the port. Dinner at Rusty's or Fishlips and we will be on vacation!
