party:

Just sticking a little celebratory party in here to say congratulations to:

@chasingthtdream08 for stalking and capturing the FEA FPs!! I really do want to bottle that thrilling feeling of finally getting that which has been stalked! :tiptoe:

@Mal6586 For the job promotion! Way to go Miss Office Supervisor! :thumbsup2 (I also enjoy your funny stories BTW! haha)

@Mrs. Inc on your upcoming 30th Anniversary!! That's a wonderful milestone.

:flower:And a big 'ole welcome to you @bugarwitch!! :flower:

Sorry some of these are many pages late...I'm totally behind the 8-ball on this thread!!

For QS, we're excited about trying: Pecos Bills, Flame Tree, and on our DS night we'll be hitting up both Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express. Also Les Halles and Morocco in Epcot!!

OMG looks yum! Ts?
Looks fantastic..I love Italian! BUT..gluten free??? I'm guessing not too many options for me. I think we will stick to Starring Rolls for soup, sandwiches and salads for our HS QS lunch. But you kids enjoy pizzaRizzos...I'm kinda jealous!

WPE is the BEST QS. It is virtually a TS, that's why. All you have to do is order yourself, then you sit down and they serve you. princess approved!

Thank you!! :D

Honestly, I haven't even thought about our QS meals, and there will be quite a few of them. (So can we guess what my afternoon procrastination activity will be?? Haha!) We usually try to go to ones we haven't been before, but we've eaten a lot of quick service, so that list is narrowing down quite a bit. I actually am a little disappointed we won't get to try Pizzarizzo, but we have Sci-Fi lunch and H&V dinner planned, and we're only doing 1 day at DHS, so maybe next time!

apparently there is GF pizza at splitsville (the bowling alley) that is quite good if you want to have pizza.

I don't really like quick service either at crowded places. I think I told you all before how I lost my DS at the Maryland Renaissance Festivsl in a chaotic lunch crowd. It was the scariest few minutes of my life, so the possibility of this happening at Disney terrifies me (we haven't been in that type of crowded lunch situation since it happened last year). That said, we can't manage a table service for all meals due to cost and the time it can take with our kids to eat in a sit down restaurant.

Is seating at Columbia Harbor House hard? We were planning on eating there (I chose it over Cosmic Rays on our first day even though we want to do mostly Tomorrowland because the food looks better to me). We have three MK days but we are only doing quick service twice- once PPO for BOG (which is a bit more like table service as you don't have to deal with balancing food trays and finding tables) and this Columbia Harbour house. Otherwise we're eating at Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table and Be Our Guest dinner, or leaving the park to eat (Chef Mickey).
Not a fan of Cosmic Rays...seems like kids always want to eat from a different bay and I'm always the one compromising. Then mom and dad split up to order from remaining two bays, and one takes twice as long as the other....much better choices, even in MK....we are trying CHH for the first time this trip, but really enjoyed PB in the past.

Maybe next trip. Trying TTS for gf pasta...looks like Tony's has a lot of g f options...don't know about pizza. If I'm not too hungry, might have the gf calamari and a salad...heard that's Good.

Aww, thanks. We got married YOUNG, can't believe 30 years!

You are a positive ray of sunshine, talby.

you don't sound like a Debbie Downer. I think lots of us are feeling it. So much time, so much effort, so much stalking, so much contingency planning because disney won't freaking release information in a timely manner. It burns you out. To me it's kind of like thanksgiving dinner, so much work and prep and then it's over in no time. At least there is xmas to look forward to though lol.

Oh so funny you should say that about Thanksgiving! I say the same thing every year! There are 11 of us, with daughters, son in laws, grandkid's. Everyone likes something different so it is a planning, shopping, cooking marathon. And I don't even like turkey dinners! So, my DH had a great suggestion for this year. He works Thanksgiving day, so we are doing ours on Friday instead. We are all going to dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Seattle. It is closing in December (the historic building it's in has sold) and we can all have one last meal there together. We can be thankful for that, right?!

As for Christmas.... I feel like I "selfishly" chose this time of year for our trip. I just so wanted to enjoy Christmas at WDW, enjoy cooler weather, and hopefully, smaller crowds, and be with my husband. All the while planning this trip, guilt has been nagging at me. I won't be doing the tons of shopping and wrapping bunches of gifts like I always do. I am giving mostly "experiences" as gifts this year. I just hope they won't feel like Nana disappointed them.... and that I will enjoy not being totally wiped out by Christmas morning for once!

I'd say with teens, QS is the way to go. :) When they get older and become foodies, then maybe a few more TS would not hurt, ;)

I have a looong list of things to bring... Your list is great though! Reminds me I probably need to buy some extra medicine... probably would take some benadryl too just in case DS develops allergies all of a sudden.

Bug spray? Don't know how bad mosquitos will be in December, but better safe than sorry. WAAAYYYY past my baby making days, but Zika still scares me. H1N1 sent me to the hospital a few years back...now I'm afraid of anything ending in the word "virus".

YES! That's definitely on my list! I heard they have complimentary ones there but I prefer having my own... H1N1 must have been scary! Hope it wasn't too serious...

I've heard Disney is providing bug spray in rooms and at parks, so I think we'll just wait and see if we think we need it. I understand why you would be nervous about it though.

All this talk of how bad quick service places are for getting the food, getting a table, being able to hear yourself think... All of those are reasons I wanted to keep our dining upgrade! But having reservations has a downside, too, so I'll just keep thinking about that as we eat whenever we feel like it and wherever we happen to be at the moment. I'll try to enjoy the flexibility of quick service, even if the food and dining rooms are less than ideal.

I'm coming from a very different perspective, as a solo traveler, but I do really enjoy QS. I like the flexibility of it, in that I can just go with wherever I am at the time and whatever I'm in the mood for. And also, I don't have to worry about whether I'll be hungry at the preset times I've picked for TS reservations. Now, I have no kids, so have never had to worry about the logistics of dealing with them in a QS setting, lol.

And that's not to say I don't love TS too! Fortunately, I have no problems with being a party of 1 at a TS restaurant. Heck, my first solo WDW trip I even did a character meal for lunch at TH! So on this trip I'll have a nice mix of both. I have 3 TS reservations, and the rest will all be whatever QS I feel like at any given time. Or even making meals of snacks, like when I go around WS at Epcot.

QS is definitely easier without kids or big parties. That's why it's never bothered roomie and me either. The last time I felt dicey about it was when I went with family about 6 years ago because there were 5 of us total, so it was a lot to carry and harder to find a table to accomodate everybody. That's one thing I do dread about the first two park days of our trip when my family will be here. We'll be navigating Universal and MVMCP as a party of 10. Even if there are plenty of adults to handle my nieces and nephew, that's still a lot of people trying to get food and eat together. That's why I pushed pretty hard (and am still hoping my dad won't make me cancel) for our Chef Mickey's ADR for a late breakfast on MVMCP day. It may be the only non-stressful meal we share together!

I will say Universal seems much easier with food... but of course, not as many choices :)

That's great! Don't forget the bars at TS restaurants too! If I were all adults or solo, this would definitely be the path I'd take instead of ADRs. :P

If you were my Nana I'd be thrilled with "experiences" as gifts! I can't find it now but a friend of mine posted an article on FB about a study that shows that people who spend their money on experiences (vacations and adventures) vs. things live much happier and more fulfilled lives. You are doing right by your grandkids!
