Hi, I'm new here (first post, woohoo!) but not new to Disney trips. It will, however, be our first stay at Beach Club and we'll be going in mid-March. I know about the room renovations, starting from top to bottom, so is it correct that in order to get a newly renovated room I should request a higher floor versus a lower floor? Or should I skip online check-in and ask in person when we get there?
to the DIS and to this thread!!!
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.
I think others responded, but my recommendation is to add your request to your reservation by contacting the Central Reservations Office or
Travel Agent (however you booked your trip) and adding either "Upper Floor" or "Renovated Room Please" and then to skip online check-in and discuss the room possibilities that are available at the time you arrive.
Has anyone else noticed the discrepancy in room rates between Garden View rooms at BC and Garden View rooms at YC? This applies not only to standard rooms, but Club Level, as well. Standard View rates, however, appear to match between resorts. I have tried checking for several dates, with the same results.
Which resort has the higher rates? I haven't noticed that and I don't really know the reason why that would be.
Welcome 'home' Dee... I pulled an 85 degree swing from 90 inGuatemala Sunday to a new low of 4 this morning in SC.
back from your volunteer work!
UGH on the temperature difference.
To go along with the new DIS post mentioned above about the Yacht and Beach Club the DIS Podcast team did a show on each resort.
Only negative is Captains Grille and they didn't seem to know about the refurb schedule

Thanks for this!!! I'll put links to these in the review section in this thread (now Page 1).
I am new to this thread. In the past we stayed several years in a row at CSR and the past two spring breaks we enjoyed VWL. We needed to go cheaper this spring break and I was shocked to find a special with Yacht Club garden view in our budget. So we are at the Yacht Club April 3-11.
We are really looking forward to being in an EPCOT resort. We will miss the space, proximity to MK, and more from VWL but I am sure we will find new things to love.
A few questions for those of you who are Yacht Club regulars:
1. I know that the YC only has coffee and baked goods off the lobby in the AM. Does anyone know if the baked goods include chocolate croissants? We have a family tradition that we always have chocolate for breakfast at Disney.
2. Our family plan is rope drop to noon in the parks and then the rest of they day poolside. If we arrive at the pool between 12 and 1 the week following Easter, do you think we will have a hard time finding 2-3 chairs together?
3. We loath all resort transportation from DTD so we tend to go there just once or twice and we like to take a cab back to the resort. Any estimates on cab fare from DTD to YC?
Love these boards. THANKS in advance if you can help!
to this thread!
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for April.
1. I think I took pictures of the baked goods at the Ale & Compass in August, I'll look to see if I can spot any chocolate croissants. As ~NM suggested, the selections may change every day. I think the Beach Club Marketplace would have them more mornings than not, though. Nice tradition!
2. I think you should be ok finding chairs at that time. I think the pool CMs are trying to be proactive about removing towels that are unattended for long periods of time, we shall see when the spring/summer pool season heats up. Even in August, in both the morning and afternoon, I was able to find a number of chairs (not loungers) that were empty.
3. A taxi is definitely the way to go to return to either the YC or BC (or any resort) from DTD. They are readily available, and as others have said, under $20 with tip. Well worth it.
Any info as to whether the Stormalong Bay maintenance is on schedule?
It is supposed to be completed by March 3.
Thanks!
Deb
Great question!!! I would love to hear a report about what they are working on.
BUMP!!!
Though this is probably not the right place to post this, I just wanted to let our BC and YC friends know that Mouse Savers is saying that reliable sources are warning of an increase in ticket prices, effective on Sunday, 02/22/2015. There is also indication that tickets with no expiration date will be discontinued, but will be honored on existing tickets.
It looks like this is the day to do some ticket shopping.
We really appreciate you posting this and giving us a heads up!
We are going to be staying at BC in June for first time. I read the opening post about villa refurb starting March. Does that mean main building standard rooms would be done being refurbished. Just wondering if I need to request a refurbished room for June or if they will already be done. Thank you in advance!
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.
The refurb work on the BCV will be happening at the same time as the BC renovation, with different crews. So from what I am hearing, a lot, but not all, of the rooms at the Beach Club will be renovated at the time of your stay. I would suggest you add a request for an upper floor or refurbished room to your reservation. As I noted above, your best bet is to skip online check-in and discuss available room options when you arrive.
Dee safe trip home! I'm back, I think last time I was here was last year when we were booked BC or YC (too many changes I can't remember)....We were booked at Poly GV CL for almost 6 months without changes..however DH recruited the kids and we are finally bringing them to SAB. We are celebrating my birthday, my college graduation (after 18 years as a nurse I finally finished my Bachelors), and I get another WDW trip! (I promised DH Universal this year....well there is always next year). The Pas crew will be at BC LV CL (2 rooms) 8/14-8/22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey!
back!!!
I'll add you to the list.
Sounds like a couple of really special celebrations- congrats on your upcoming graduation. Quite an accomplishment!!!
If you are staying at Yacht or Beach club, Is it possible to use SAB on check out day, after check out time? We're thinking about a split stay b/w Yacht Club and SOG. WE'd arrive on a Friday night, check out Sunday and move to Shades on Sunday. Would we be able to swim in SAB before leaving YC on Sunday? (Say 11am was check out time, would we be able to get into the SAB area after 11?
We're not trying to cheat the system or anything, just trying to figure out how we want to structure our trip. TIA!
As Ninja indicated, you are totally justified using Stormalong Bay any time during your checkin and checkout day, even if you no longer have a room.
Let us know if you book at stay at the Yacht Club.
Good news is you can hop a boat in the morning and go right over to the Boardwalk where you'll find the Boardwalk Bakery. They'll have everything you could dream of. You can also walk it if boats aren't running yet.
Can't remember if you have posted here before or not, so
Great user name!!!
I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list for March, so I will add you.
