A Magic and Miracles celebration vacation TR

Before I go any further, I forgot to tell something that happened earlier in the day at MK. We went to ride Buzz Light Year and once again DH & I had separated in order for me to talk to DDFG and my DH to talk with her DH. Well... once again the guys were wished a Happy Anniversary! But to make matters worse, the CM asked where they were from. And not wanting to embarrass the CM, they simply replied MA. Well, for anyone that may not know, recently the state of MA approved same sex marriage. So, the CM smiled ear to ear & patted DH on the back. :rotfl: Now, no flames please. One of our dearest friends was gay, and we have family members who are in same sex serious relationships, so trust me when I say we DO NOT judge. It's not our job. But, this was the theme of the week, and for some reason DDFG & I , even though wearing anniversary buttons and constantly being side by side, NEVER ran into this issue. Only the guys:confused3:confused3. Never were the CM's corrected. There was no point to it. However whenever asked how many years, and one of the guys said 30 and the other 14 it was fun to watch the CM's faces. That's usually when DDFG & I would walk over.

Now I promise next update will be more about the dessert party. .. with pictures. Anyone like food porn?

That's too funny!!! I think it is more acceptable in society for lady friends to go out and look "straight" than guys. Two guys spending time together and people automatically assume they are in a relationship. Poor guys!

I think it's funny that they keep giving the different years.

It was funny. I does seem that people don't assume 2 woman walking together, even though wearing anniversary buttons, are lesbians, but 2 men walking together must be gay. What's with that? Anyway, DH & DDFGDH are really good sports, neither found any reason to be offended.

Now, as I promised...

The desserts were over to the right as you walked into the seating area. The lagoon was below to the left. A beautiful view. Here are some pictures of the desserts:

1st I will show what we were disappointed with. I didn't think to take pictures until after most of us had dug into them. So, I may not have photos of everything. We had changed the cannolis from pistachio to plain. And at the last minute I changed from cheesecake to creme brulee. I wrongly assumed it would be plain creme brulee. Instead we got....
disney201230thanniversary2809.jpg

chocolate & (although I forgot to take a picture of it) pistachio. Noone really enjoyed it. A couple of people took the pistachio ones, and 1 or two chocolate, but most were not eaten. Unlike most creme brulee we've had, it didn't have a sugar glaze crust to the top. Everyone agreed it tasted more like custard.

disney201230thanniversary2808.jpg

from back of photo left to right: chocolate fudge brownies, creme puffs, fruit tarts, and tiramisu. The brownies were typical rich fudge brownies. the creme puffs were delicious, the fruit tarts were very well received. I didn't try one, but everyone liked them. the tiramisu was okay from what I am told. I am not a tiramisu person, so didn't try any.

next up eclairs, fruit salad & cannolis.
disney201230thanniversary2807.jpg

All of this was delicious. The fruit was fresh, tasty & juicy. The eclairs were yummy and the cannolis were fa nominal! I am not really a cannoli person, but these were really good.

Now onto the drinks, but I am saving the best for last in the food dept.
disney201230thanniversary2811.jpg

There was a wonderful selection of warm beverages. Coffee, decaf & regular, tea with bags, and flavors to put into them. There was fruit punch and tap water as well. We also could have beer or wine as bill on consumption. Everyone chose not to have nonalcoholic beverages. I think the older kids had had enough at the mixology course. (which I haven't forget, I will get to that later).

Now, on to my very favorite dish at the dessert party.
disney201230thanniversary2810.jpg

Donut Flambee. It was glazed donuts "flamed" right there. Served if you chose with vanilla ice cream. THEY were delicious. I could easily have eaten only these. Soooo gooooodddd. I could go for one now.
My only issue with these was my lack of knowledge how the DP worked. Which was noones fault but my own. I should have made sure I understood it. I assumed they would just keep bringing out desserts as they ran low, until the party was over. They didn't. So, I assumed that meant I had prepaid for x amount of each item. At their discretion. If I was feeling better that night I probably would have spoken up and asked our servers. But, by the time things got rolling my vertigo was beginning to kick in.

The other wonderful thing about the dessert party was I met the other disboarder who was celebrating she & her DH anniversary with a VR(her's in WDW), and a dessert party at the same time as ours. Her's was much bigger and formal than mine, but many of my ideas were based on hers. And I am very appreciative of her help. So, pleased to have met BethieTink from the weddings and honeymoons thread on these Disboards. I only wish I had thought to grab a picture of us, but like I say by the time things got rolling my vertigo was increasing and it definately affects my thought process. But, picture or not I was very happy to meet her! :goodvibes

WARNING ... I do NOT take good firework photo's. With dh pushing me I find it very unfair to ask him to carry my tripod. I am very fortunate we have a nice camera, because with the vertigo ALOT of my photos are trashed. But, here are a few that came out okay.

and...
disney201230thanniversary2886.jpg

What's that you say? You are seeing Mickey's in the fireworks? hmm... you may want to see a travel agent about that. :rotfl2:
We were pleasantly surprised when the CM handed us special glasses to watch the fireworks with!:goodvibes So, I played and finally caught the above photo. :confused3 I guess everyone gets lucky once in a while.
:thumbsup2

And who could resist taking a couple photos as the countrys light up.

fun fact. The only country that does not light up at Illuminations is Morroco. I am told it has something to do with this type of lighting goes against their religious beliefs. I found that very interesting and am impressed they stay true to their beliefs.

And planet Earth

Next up meet the people at the dessert party.

Oooh pretty pictures!!! I NEED those glasses!!! NICE! I am really enjoying your TR! popcorn::

I have a question about your shirts. Did you use iron on transfers? If so, what kind did you use?

I would like to make the boys some for our next trip but the only ones I've seen that you iron-on transfer didn't NEARLY look as nice as yours. Yours look professional.

OH, you are so nice!! I wish I could sew like you! Yes, the backs are iron on. The writing is all hand done. The irons I used this time I got at AC Moore. I used 2 different types. But they were about the same. It is alot of fun. Thanks for the compliments! I enjoy doing them. DH & I have decided I do much better now that I have vertigo! Everything is straight now.:lmao: It takes me much longer than it used to & I can't do anything by eye, it all has to be measured, penciled & re measured. Plus, my family has to help me now. I used to get 6 shirts out in 1 day. Now it takes weeks, or even months. So, only 1 shirt per person now.

All caught up! I'm sorry that you had so many issues with the dessert party. You had a good attitude about everything and didn't let the CM in the bad mood ruin your night, but it is hard when you plan something and things go wrong. I wanted to have a dessert party at my wedding but never did… maybe next time we go on a big family trip!

with all the good experiences in Disney how could anyone let one grouchy CM damper their day? I love Disney!!

Meet the crew...

First photo bomb...

The picture should have been of DDFG & DDFGDH, but my son the PR major, decided to photobomb it. urgghh

I showed him though, I took one without him in it. AND it's a silly one! ha

After we were shuffled out of the dessert party area we headed to the monorail. Over to MK for the extra magic hours. :cool1:

I tried not to push our travel mates into doing anything they didn't want, but I did mention that I LOVE MK late at night. The darkness with all the ride lights, the low crowds the cool air. So, I guess I described enchantingly because they decided to forgo bed and come to the MK with us.

So, next up is all that sugar from the dessert party enough to keep us going until late night closing at the MK? Or do we experience sugar low and burn out and head back to our home away from home?

First, in light of todays tragedy, I need to acknowledge the lives that were taken leaving behind so many hearts that I am sure (though I pray I am wrong), will never completely heal. RIP all victims of the Newtown, CT school shooting.

I have come here in hopes my heart aches may lessen, to dry my tears. I can not imagine this kind of pain, ever, but to experience it at a time that is meant to be filled with joy and hope. My heart truly aches. God Bless them all.

I will write more TR at a later date.

thank you Bridget for the kind words.

So, we finally got over to MK. We were thrilled to see it wasn't to crowded to grab a couple of pictures with this years enticing saying...
disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty4.jpg

Now, I may have mentioned DDFG & family are NOT night owls. They are morning people. opposite from my family. Proof is in the pudding. Notice little DDFGDS's expression. We haven't even entered the MK yet, and he is so sleepy. Poor little guy. But, he was a trooper, he trudged along, not complaining. But, also not really enjoying either.

One of the group then onto mainstreet.
disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty7.jpg

So we went onto mainstreet and this is what we found..
disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty11.jpg

Well, we scored great seats as it wasn't that crowded. We stood (well I sat) near the firehouse. This time, since DH was pushing my chair he was actually near me & DDFGDH was near her. So, the anniversary buttons were noticed in their proper position. :cloud9: I feel a small explanation is in order. I keep writing I was in my wheelchair. Well, I hate for all my memories to be in that foolish chair (though I am grateful I have it, as I wouldn't be able to do nearly what I do without it.). So, I try to stand for any pictures we have. At least if it is at all possible I try to stand, walk, not use the w/c entrances, etc. So, most pictures, at least the ones I post publicly are with me standing. (also standing thins me out. :lmao: ). Now on to more pictures.

A "happy anniversary's" wave from Cinderella!

disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty24.jpg

You may remember the Peter Pan ride holds special memories for me from my very first WDW trip on our honeymoon. So, to get a special anniversary wave from Peter Pan.... ahhh:cloud9:

I just like the below picture. It looks like Mr. Smee is really speeding in his boat!

disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty31.jpg

this is a traditional photo for me

disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty43.jpg

Now this is Pete. From Pete's Dragon which happened to be one of my DS favorite movies when he was little. He tells me when he gets married someday he & I will dance to "candle on the water". ( I wonder if he has ever really listened to the words. Although I find it charming, I'm not so sure his new bride will want ME to be his candle in the water any longer. We will see. Maybe it will have to have a disclaimer before we dance. :rolleyes1

I digress. Pete noticed DDFG & DDFGDH anniversary buttons, and asked (from the top of Elliot the dragon), how many years. She very thoughtfully said, "14, but they're 30"! Pete ran with it. He was still talking when we couldn't see him anymore. Things like "let's see 14 + 30? I'm not very good at math you know. I will try. 14 + 30 . 4+1= 6, so 3+ 0, that's easy..." Like I say, he was still talking when we couldn't hear exactly what he was saying, and we were loosing sight of him. He was great! Never did any of us expect this type of attention from a parade!!!! I think DD may have enjoyed it as well. See for yourself....

disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty45.jpg

disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty50.jpg

I'm not sure if they always end with this, but it was Veterans Day weekend. It was the last float in the parade. And it was a LOOOONNNNG float.

So, that completed the ELP. Now onto a ride or two. But, not until after a picture of the castle. I love the lights on the castle at Christmas time. The way they change colors. I could take pictures for hours. Well, that is if I had a family that enjoyed picture taking. But, I did sneak one in. It's from my chair, so not that great.

disney201230thanniversary2989MKlatenightafterdessertparty53.jpg

I love your pictures!! Mr. Smee really does look like he is speeding! I love the way you have a shot of Cinderella looking right at ya'll.

Every time we've seen the MSEP the Americana float is at the end. I think it's gorgeous!

I love your photo of the castle. One day....one day I'll see it at Christmas!

How cool that Pete interacted with ya'll!!

popcorn::

Thanks for sharing!

sneaky.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. A couple of years ago Santa brought me a nice DSLR. The camera does the work.

Yes, Pete was great! Alot of the other characters were waving & wishing us Happy Anniversary too. It was really special!

Now, where did I leave off?

After the ELP we had to decide on a ride. The older "kids" (including DDFGDH & my DH) went on Space mtn. Meanwhile we rode Buzz Lightyear ... again.

Next up was the Stitch ride. I keep wanting to like this ride, but I just don't. I love Stitch, but the ride is obnoxious in my opinion.

As a group we found it neccessar to discuss how they should improve that ride. so we stood and did just that for several minutes. Nice waste of EM hours huh?

I need sto take a break now, I'll be bak later.

:rotfl2: Like how I can be sneaky?!?! I was going to save that bit of info until after we booked our trip but I just couldn't hold it in any longer.

Would you believe it if I told you that we have never ridden Stitch ever? It's a "must do" on hubby's list for this next time. I've heard it makes people :crazy2: and  but if he wants to ride it, I'll try it out!!

I hope you have a wonderful day today!!!

Thanks Bridget. My day is getting a bit better since I stopped spinning. :goodvibes

You did well holding it in as long as you did. I don't get sick on Stitch. Just... less than appealing to me.

Back to the TR,

so,. after discussing our improvements... We went to the Laugh Floor. I love this attraction. Maybe that is because we usually get to be involved in some way. Once they used DD#2 joke. Once DH was random dancing guy, and this time.....

Our party split up. Some sat behind us, some beside me. Well, the comedians on stage were teasing this woman off & on for the entire show. After coming back again to tease her they are showing her face on the big screen and they say "Hey lady there is a monster behind you" & the screen switches to show the guy behind her and it is..... DS#1111! So cute. :rotfl2:
We all got a good laugh out of that.

Next up, Adventureland. But, will our travel companions stay awake, melt down, or join us?

All caught up! It must have been so nice for you to get a special wave from Peter Pan - the magic of Disney! I love that your DS chose a song from that movie for a future first dance. I do the same thing with songs though - I love the songs and sometimes the words don't quite match up for what I want them for lol I think it would still be lovely :)
