Attraction Mishaps/Malfunctions

This is inspired by a thread on another WDW message board:

What funny, interesting, and/or unusual attraction mishaps and malfunctions have you been a part of?

I remember reading in another thread that someone was watching Beauty and the Beast and Mrs. Potts fell down, revelaing that Mrs. Potts was actually a mister.

Just thought this might be a fun thread. Does anyone have any
stories to relay?

Was last rider on Space Mountain one time and CM gave me small Mickey balloon, when I asked CM why he said it would alert unloading CM's I was last rider and they could start shut down procedures.::yes:: :wave2:

We were riding BMTRR once and just before our train asccended the first hill it stopped and all the "work lights" came on. Before long a CM came our way and said the ride had stopped because someone had tried to stand up in their car while on the ride. It was noticed on a security camera so they stopped the ride and were escorting the offender off the ride - and hopefully out of the MK!

Not exactly funny or anything, BUT.... last month I took DSis and DBrother to MGM to ride RNR Coaster. About 5 minutes before we were to board it broke down, the night before I had read about how they play a special song when this happens and wondered if I ever would hear it, well I guess I got what I wished for. Then I said outloud, which I could see it with lights on... and you guessed it, on came the lights in the tunnel. You could see the launch, and where it turns up into the inversion. After 1/2 hour we were given fast passes, waited in the courtyard for it to open again. About 1/2 hour later it opened, we walked up and some kids cut infront of us, so CM left us ahead. We got to be the first ones on... I WAS A WEE BIT SCARED, since it was the first train through with guest on it after the break down..lol AND to boot they wanted me to ride in the front row... I gave that up to my DBrother and DFiance and took the 2nd row...lol!

I'm jinx by BTMRR!!! The past 2 times I have tried to ride this ride with my friends... it RAINS right after we have gotten into the FP line and are almost to the downstairs ramp!!! :(

HM stopped on us twice we didn't mind that though. :)

Not an attraction so much, BUT what gives with the monorails lately....last time we were stuck on one for about 30 minutes, and they were breaking down like crazy

Oh one time Splash mountain had all running water turned off for some reason....that was....different

I remember one of the last times on TOT, the ride stopped right before the drop. The ride stopped and all the lights came on. Someone asked, is this part of the ride. I answered no. Then a CM showed up with a small ladder and walked us back down. She put us in the front for the next "elevator". Most of the people chickened out and left. We went right back on. I love that ride.

Several years ago we were the last riders on POTC one night and at one point as we rounded the bend we were greeted by three guys, two with tools and one taking the clothes off a pirate, they looked startled, then broke out in "Yo ho, Yo ho a pirates life for me"

I remember this one time we were on the monorail for about ten minutes because there was a dead lizard ( one of the big ones I can't think of the name of it) but anyway they had to get it off the tracks.

Also this one time I was on Splash Mountain and throughout the ride it kept breaking down. So at the big drop we were one boat from dropping when it stopped. The one at the top was almost looking down at the drop. Anyway one of the people on this boat chickend out and walked down the stairs they have on the side.

Back in Feb. I went to Epcot with my best friend. Near the end of the day, shortly before IllumiNations, we decided to try and see one last attraction. And since we were in the China pavilion we decided it would be Reflections of China. When we tried to enter the waiting area for the film we found it closed off due to some special event inside. The CM at the door said we could go around to the side door and wait. I didn't know there was a side door! First we ended up in the museum type area next to the waiting area for the film. There were several other guest there also waiting for the film. After about ten minutes my friend and I decided we were waiting in the wrong area so we started looking for another way in the theater. Eventually we went around to where you exit the theater and the doors were wide open. We went inside and as if on cue the doors closed right behind us. We were all excited thinking we would be the only ones in the theater! :teeth: After a few minutes of waiting with nothing happening I realized something was amiss. Just then a CM came in and seemed startled to see us. She asked us what we were doing and we told her we were there for the show. Then she informed us that all the shows were over and we should try again tomorrow. So we left and watched IllumiNations as it was just getting started. I still don't know why the first CM told us to wait at the "sidedoor".

:o When I was a teen way back in the 70's they stopped the Haunted Mansion ride.

A CM came out of the dark and walked right over to my Doom Buggy and started lecturing ME about taking flash photo's inside the attraction. He then demanded that I give him my camera.

He was rather red faced:blush: when I pointed out I could not give him my camera, because I did not have one. He quickly retreated back into the dark and the ride started up again.:earboy2:

on our honeymoon we had a blast. I must have been glowing because the whole trip was wonderful. We ran in the rain the whole time because there were 4 or 5 tropical depressions back to back in the atlantic all headed straight for orlando! But it was fun and there were no lines anywhere!

On one of the rounds of Space Mountian I was in the last seat. Don't sit there. It's very bumpy and it whips you around. Well, after having been scared in the first seat the time before, I decided no more space mountian for me. My lap bar wouldn't come up. Everyone is gone, dh is waiting for me and the CM is laughing his butt off because there I sit looking petriefied. He told me since it wouldn't let me go, I could stay on as long as I like. I begged him to get me out. He thought the whole thing was pretty funny. I should have stayed on and watched the cm's face as I came around to the loading area.

We met Donald. This was before you could met characters at meet and great spots. So we're so excited. Donald hugged me for the photo and then wouldn't let me go. He grabbed me and we both almost fell. The little kids were looking like what's donald doing? Then he kept waving as we were leaving.

On the monorail one night, the fireworks had started and we were headed to the MK. So I guess the driver thought he'd give up the chance to see the fireworks from there. it was a great view. Our car was empty, so we smooched under the fireworks. It was truly a magical honeymoon.

My daughter's friend Sarah decided to chicken out on a repeat trip to the Tower of Terror. She panicked as they were loading the car and jumped up and got out of her seat at the last minute. The nice Cast member escorted her around the corner to the "chicken exit".... They walked into a regular looking office area. The CM then pushed a button and told her to take the elevator down one floor to the unload area. Sarah looked at him in shock. Did he REALLY expect her to get in another elevator!!. The CM had to go down in the elevator with her, cause otherwise she wasn't budging.

Back in Feb we were on TOT when it had malfunctions. The first elevator we got on never took off, and they loaded us into another elevator. The drops went on WAY longer than normal. And then when we landed, the elevator didn't turn around to face the exit for about 15 minutes. Then when it did , the doors didn't open. It was eerie. That was the last TOT ride for the day for us.

Also in Feb, we were on Pooh and it broke down and we had to walk out through all the scenes. It was neat. We got re-entry passes and the CM's were really nice about it.

One of the boats at the front of the tracks got "stuck" on IASW. Of course, this made all of the boats behind it backup. We sat in the building for over half an hour with that music playing the entire time. It was a long, long time before I rode that ride again.

I've ridden Splash Mountain many, many times where there was no water on the track when the log drops. It is a bit odd looking.

One of the last time that I rode HM, the ride broke down for a good 15-20 minutes. We were at the ballroom scene, and I noticed that if you look up, you could see some of the "ghosts". It was really pretty neat. :)

our last trip we got stuck in the COP for about ten minutes.

'it's a great big beautiful tomorrow'!

We once got stuck on It's a Small World for 45 minutes. We were in the Africa section with all the drums and the music kept on playing. That tune was stuck in our heads the rest of the day.

Universe of Energy broke down when we were about half-way through and they turned on the work lights so CM's could walk everyone out.

We got stuck in POTC on our last trip--it was going very slow anyway, then we got stuck in one area for about 10 minutes. We actually enjoyed it because usually the ride goes too fast to take everything in!

The trip before last, Mexico's cars were a little off, and it was like bumper cars at the end (each car bumping into the car before it). It was fixed the last time we went, though.

Has anybody else noticed that the seats in the Mexico ride seem to be heated?? We were there on some cold days this past year--Mexico warmed our butts!

This is only a mishap only because we were with our three small children and had some 'splaining to do after this....
We were at Animal Kingdom on Christmas Day 2002. We walked up the huge glass wall where you can view the gorillas. A large gorilla was sitting within a foot or less of the glass, front and center. Several other gorillas were moving around in the general vicinity. A small gorilla came up to the glass next to the large one. My kids thought the small one was its baby because it sat on the large one's lap. Well....before we could process it all, those two gorillas started doing the nasty within inches of us - perfectly centered in the window.
As you can imagine, my three small kids freaked out, asking over and over again in VERY loud, distressed voices what those gorillas were doing, was he hurting the little one, etc. Of course they kept asking ME, not their father!!!
