Carnival Paradise
Itineraries from Tampa are canceled until March 19.
The media doesn't" tell" us to do anything. The report the things that other people are saying. It's not like the media (whatever that is) got together and decided to make up some things and tell people to do it.I remember them telling us to fill our bathtubs with water prior to midnight the year 2000. Yeah, that media. This was before Twitter and Myface so it was all mainstream media. That was a clue way back then.

The Media didn't tell you that. The Media merely was passing though information that the Y2K task forces were putting out. Although the bathtub filling is a new one on meI remember them telling us to fill our bathtubs with water prior to midnight the year 2000. Yeah, that media. Oh how I remember well the warning to fill your bathtub up so you could bathe when "it all went down"The Media didn't tell you that. The Media merely was passing though information that the Y2K task forces were putting out. Although the bathtub filling is a new one on me
Well, Y2K was a Generation ago, so I could have forgotten that. I guess since computers/software were the big concerns, and could be involved in the delivery of water in some areas, it could have been an issue. My Y2K prep consisted of printing my bank balances on December 31, 1999. My kids were in elementary school and Junior High School so I always had about $500 cash on hand for those moments as they were going out the door to school and said "I forgot, I need $80 cash today for a deposit for FILL IN THE BLANK". So I didn't get any extra cash.Oh how I remember well the warning to fill your bathtub up so you could bathe when "it all went down"
The 4 2021 canceled cruises, Spirit, Valor, Magic and Paradise, are all due to the drydock availibilty per Christine Duffy. They were scheduled but with Covid, the dock space isnt available, so everyone is reshuffling their dates. Id expect RCCL,NCL and others are all going to have the same issues. Even Disney. Has nothing to do with Covid updates. Come to think of it, there probably isnt any covid updates for the ships. Possibly in the future but nothing is being done at the moment. RCCL and I think it was NCL was working on a plan to get ahead of the curve, and light a fire under CDC, but I dont think anything has come up solid yet.
Using Freeport as an example, a lot of lines including Disney will fly in specialists from all over the world to do work on specific things. Like Italian stone masons for the marble, technicians for the main electrical and the main engines from the manufacturer etc. If they cant get foreign contractors to the docks, or workers in general, they cant get the work done. Add in class requirements, that are fairly strict, and things go from bad to worse. Its possible they can get extensions, but its a lot of ships to get squared away, and were not talking just cruise ships. Tankers, cargo ships, RORO ships, transports all need dock space at the same time.
I dont think there changing the entire system. My dad used to install big commercial acs for hi rise buildings hospitals etc. The way he explained it to me once was that a given ac system recycles the bulk of the air in a given area, with a percentage coming from the outside. I dont remember the numbers off hand. So over a certain time frame, based on the percentage, the air is completely cycled out. What the cruise lines may be doing is adjusting the systems to cycle the air faster with fresh outside air, and venting more inside air to the atmosphere, as opposed to just reusing it. And also installing certain uv lights in the returns that are known to kill viruses. That's just a guess.Regarding potential updates, I know some cruise lines have decided to change their air filtration systems. I know nothing about air filtration but I wouldn't be susprised if it involved some replacements.
