The stupidest for me is having to deal with a husband who thinks it’s stupid to wear a mask. I have talked and talked to him about why we need to wear them and it doesn’t help. He will only wear one when forced to, but still thinks they are stupid.

I’m sorry. My DH can be stubborn about things he thinks he know too. Sometimes I think he just likes to be contrary. Lucky for me, masks isn’t one of them, but I have been in your position before.

In less than 4 months, government closed public schools then "restructured" education under the guise of "public safety". In less than 4 months, our government demonstrated how easily people assimilate to "guidelines" that have NO scientific premise whatsoever when you are fearful.

In less than 4 months, our government successfully instilled fear in a majority of the population in America that allows them to control every aspect of your life. Including what you eat, where you go, who you see and your toilet paper.

And the most dangerous and terrifying part? People are not afraid of the government who removed their freedom. They're afraid of their neighbors, family and friends.

And they hate those who won't comply.

It's absolutely terrifying to me that so many people don't question "authority". They are willing to surrender their critical thinking skills and independence. They just... gave up without thinking. Without a fight.

Do you know what's coming next?
"It's just a vaccine. Come on. It's for the greater good".

Wait until you're told that you can't enter any store or business without proof of the Covid-19 vaccine. Wait until you can't go to public events or get on a plane without proof of receiving the vaccine.

To everyone that doesn't believe this is possible - DO YOU UNDERSTAND that government successfully dictated to people WHEN they were allowed to be outside, where they were allowed to go, and how their children would be educated in less than 4 months? And that a majority of the population followed blindly because they were told to do so.

You're kidding yourself if you think this behavior won't be repeated with a vaccine. Or whatever the next step is.

The one thing I can say that during this Pandemic I've heard a lot of stuff from people who clearly don't know history, although I'm sure they think they do. They aren't even aware that they are repeating it and are totally oblivious of the outcome.
Unfortunately that means we are all doomed, not just those who aren't intelligent enough to know any better.

The craziest thing I've seen, other than the virus disappearing the day after the election, was shared by a friend on FB a couple days ago. It was originally shared on July 21. (I'm paraphrasing in an attempt to make it less political.)

Now that hospitals are required to report Covid numbers to the White House instead of the CDC, the CDC just came out & said they made another "mistake" in Florida; And they've also been counting Pneumonia & Flu as Covid -- dropping their number from approximately 90,000 to 10,000.

She believed it. Some of her other friends "liked it". FB tagged it as false. Naturally, that was just another attempt by FB to sensor the truth. It would have taken less than a minute for any of them to have looked up Florida's actual numbers to see the 90,000 wasn't even close to right, even if they chose to believe the rest of the conspiracy. If they spent a couple more minutes to investigate it, they wouldn't have needed FB to tell them none of it was true. Sometimes, I think people who make these outrageous claims are just trolling people to see how many will believe anything that fits their agenda. If they can get a lot of people to share it for them, that's even better.

I have a first cousin once removed (or a 2nd cousin, whatever, we are related somehow) going on Facebook rants once a day about how fake this is all to bring down the president and his administration and come November this is all going to go away. Masks don't work, in fact they are killing you because you are breathing in so much carbon dioxide. Blah, blah, blah and so on. Everyday.

*****....YOUR HUSBAND had covid-19 so bad he was in the hospital for 5 weeks, 3 of those in ICU on a ventilator. His lungs were damaged so badly he has been told he is going to need a lung transplant and is now on oxygen 24 hours a day. One of her daughters is a heart surgeon who wears a mask for hours on end in the OR, but yeah a mask going to Walmart is going to kill you.

I’ve heard of this too.

It’s true sometimes... It should be just listed as a significant additional condition but it does occasionally show up on death certificates of people who died unnatural or unexpected deaths. It’s just not the primary cause of death.
The problem comes when the algorithm of some data processing government computer doesn’t properly ignore it, and it gets counted as a COVID death.

How can these people not have read or listened to ANY of the MANY news articles on the virus?

Goodness there's too much to even fit into this space. My favorite is that kids under 10 "don't get it."

Remember the early-on rumor that black people couldn't get the virus? That rumor didn't last long, but it seemed particularly mean-spirited, as it encouraged a whole segment of the population NOT to protect themselves.

I have a Facebook friend who is REALLY anti mask. Post at least once a day how mask do nothing BLAH BLAH BLAH. She is a nurse!!!!

Statistics don't matter to crazy people or deniers. They think they're all made up.
