  • For sailings beginning March 11, 2022, face coverings on Disney Cruise Line will become optional in most indoor locations throughout our ships. Guests ages 2 and up, including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, will still be required to wear face coverings in the Walt Disney Theatre.
  • Guests under 5 years of age who are currently ineligible to be vaccinated will be required to wear face coverings in Youth Activities spaces and in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique; and, while not required, we continue to strongly recommend these Guests wear a face covering in all other indoor locations.
  • As previously shared, face coverings are not required in outdoor locations while onboard our ships.

Just received the following email from Disney about my upcoming cruise:

All of us at Disney Cruise Line hope you and your family are staying well. Considering recently updated guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we have updated our face covering requirements for sailings originating from a U.S. port of departure, including your upcoming sailing:

  • For sailings beginning March 11, 2022, face coverings on Disney Cruise Line will become optional in most indoor locations throughout our ships. Guests ages 2 and up, including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, will still be required to wear face coverings in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Face coverings may be required in ports of call based on local government requirements, including in some areas at Disney Castaway Cay. Masks should also be worn in the cruise terminal during the boarding and screening process, as well as during disembarkation. Please be sure to review the information available on the Know Before You Go section of our website for answers to many frequently asked questions.

We appreciate you sailing with us and look forward to welcoming you aboard.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew

Yup just got the email since our cruise is on March 28! A tad disappointed they didn't add pre-arrival testing options as well, but....I'll take whatever little bit of "more normal" I can get!

Ridiculous change if there are unvaccinated individuals on the cruise. Every time Covid rates go down and these changes happen, rates just skyrocket back up again. When will people learn. :(
I mean they are just following CDC guidance (they say as much in their message). Say what you will about the CDC but they are the experts so I think following their guidance makes sense. Just IMHO tho!

Interesting...still required in the Walt Disney theater, is that due to performers being unmasked or because they'll be filling up the seats again vs social distancing?

And what part of Castaway Cay requires it? Bathrooms? Trams? Just curious.

Got it too and I'm thrilled that our first cruise will be more like they typically were before. However, if they raise capacity to 100% by April, I may be regretting that sentiment. 😄

Hoping its because they are doing to start increasing capacity.

I'll be interested to see how long some of the other artifacts of the pandemic stick around. Those belt stanchions around the pools and plexiglass at the registers bother me more than masks ever did.

Interesting - Only thing is so I have a 6 year old and 3 year old. So my 3 year old will have to wear a mask in Oceanears Club but not my 6 year old?

I am so excited! I took the specific theater mention to mean that maybe they know they have to start increasing capacity there.

Masks are still required in the theater. I wonder if Preludes will stay closed or if they'll switch back to masks between sips like they did pre-Omicron.
