Good San Diego restaurants

Since no one else is responding:goodvibes ....

Still from my own research, there's Ruby's Diner which seems to be a popular chain in California. There's one in Carlsbad:

My kids are drawn to family burger-joint-type places. I'd love to hear from some locals as to good places :confused3

I guess it somewhat or totally depends upon what type of food you are looking for...how much you want to spend..how important keeping your kid happy is.
My daughter is now 6, but since we live here, we have been going to "kid friendly " for awhile.
Burger Joints....Red Robin in University City, Ruby's Diner (although I personally don't enjoy their food), Corvette Diner (the waitresses are supposed to act attititude rude, throw straws and bubble gum at you, so quite the hit...but located in Hillcrest..kind of gritty around the outskirts, also the center of the city's gay community...killer Elvis shake!)
Old Town has Rockin' Baja Lobster, one of my fav's since you get seafood in bucket, but unless your child is a corn'dog eater...might not work. I am sure there are other things on the kid menu...but my daughter eats mostly the rice and beans!!
Dave and Busters....I hate it..LOUD, but a common kid destination.
Rubio's fast Mexican...yummy, kid's meal has a churro and a toy.
Drawing a blank otherwise, but ask more and I will check back.

We're in SD every year, and Rubio's the place we go back to again and again. In fact, before we leave SD we go for a last Rubio's fix at the airport. I LOVE their fish taco.

Another place we like is Bellefleur Restaurant at the Carlsbad Premium Outlet (next to Legoland). Excellent food. Go to their website for a menu: www.bellefleur.com

Can't wait to go back in July 2007!

Hey c&m, and anyone else.
If you are a fish taco enthusiast, I think that La Salsa has a slightly better fish taco than Rubio's. You might want to try it. I don't like the rest of the menu as well, but truly inspired fish tacos!!
Best bean and cheese burrito...Baja Fresh.

I apparently eat a lot of fast food Mexican......

Grumpyvet: Thanks for the tip! Where's La Salsa? I am a big fish taco fan and do not get to enjoy it unless we go south all the way to SD. Point me in the right direction, and I'll be there in July!!!!

I also like Gringo's in Mission Beach, a little more upscale but great food.

If you just want a brunch, try the Mission Cafe:
