If I recall correctly, 'TYMD' campaign began in the latter half of '05. (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). My husband and I went 'dream-less' in '05 and '06. . .but had some added 'magic' in '07. . .
We had 10-day hoppers. On our first day at the MK, we were presented with Dream Fast Passes when exiting Big Thunder Mtn Railroad in the a.m. When we pulled into the exit station, the CM at the podium announced to our train that we were winners! The attraction was closing for refurbishment the following day, so we had to get our fill on that particular day!
On day 2, we were exiting Flights of Wonder at AK (it was sprinkling. . .and the show was cancelled midway as a result of the weather). We proceeded to the neighboring ice cream cart for our daily Mickey ice cream bar fix! The CM announced to us that this was the 'Year of a Million Dreams' and our money was no good at his cart! The rain picked up---and the CM pushed aside his trash can so we could share his umbrella while we enjoyed our Mickey treat! I asked the CM how he was alerted that it was time to 'dispense a dream'. . .having believed everything was random. He told us that he was allowed to dispense dreams as he saw fit----within a reasonable amount throughout the day. He simply had to 'call it in' anytime he granted a dream! Wrong thing to say to my husband. . .I think he spent the rest of the trip looking for isolated ice cream carts---trying to determine which CM might be feeling up to springing a 'dream'. . .
Uh. . .it worked. Would you believe day 3 of our trip? We were in EPCOT. I think the ice cream carts had just opened. My husband was itching for a Mickey bar. When he ordered, the CM looked at me and said, "are you SURE you don't want anything?" I didn't get it at first. . .but my husband nudged me. . .and she asked me again. . .so I got a free Mickey bar. . .and even though I just ate my breakfast. . .I somehow managed to enjoy it!
Lastly. . .we almost got to open the AK park one day. (though I know they do this even if it wasn't TYMD) We were first in line at one of the turnstiles. A CM came up to us and asked us if the children jumping around at the front gate (near us) were ours. I said, "no". (gladly) They located the parents some 8 feet back----and they were asked to open the park. We were close. . .I know I didn't really want to dance and play musical instruments. . .so it was fine that it was left to the hyperactive children!
Anyhow. .. they were small 'dreams', I guess (if you compare them to a night in Cinderella's castle. . .or a shopping spree. . .or whatever. . .but they were all pretty special!
