Hi, I’m Julie McCoy, Your TR Director

Sadly the singers did not improve at all this show.

Though the singing was bad, once again the dancers were fabulous.

The road trip stopped in Vegas.

You certainly can’t have any fat on your body to wear that outfit!

Continuing with more show pictures.

I don’t remember all the songs sang but I know Born to be Wild was one, and I think it was basically the name or at least theming to the show.

I believe in this segment they had made it to LA/Hollywood.

Had they had really good singers, this show would’ve been excellent. It was still good with costumes, props and dancers…but the singers……it’s just sad they didn’t have better ones.

Another amazing thing….all the music was from a live band. I was impressed with that.

After the show was over our Cruise Director, Lee Childers, came out to talk. Now I am sure he is a fine CD. I had read before coming on the ship that Lee was not a favorite. Now he didn’t do anything that would make me not like him, but we thought he looked like a used car salesman and kind of had that mannerism. So though I am sure his is fine, he wasn’t great in my book because I just felt like at any moment he was going to approach people to buy a used car. LOL! I know totally silly, but he really had that look.

After the show, mom wanted to walk by the casino and take a look to see if those 2 girls had taken her machine….sure enough they were both sitting there, the one playing and the other one watching. Mom was mad they took her machine. LOL!

Mom called it a night. I went back up top for a bit with my computer to use up some of my free internet time, chatted quickly via facebook with a couple of friends and then chatted with J and her husband again and a few others.

I then headed back to the room and loaded some pictures to the computer and watched a bit of TV and edited a few pictures while Mom slept away.

We had one more day, a Sea Day left, so it wasn’t a big deal staying up late, but I finally hit the bed and fell right to sleep.

I am glad that everything worked out and you managed to get to the ferry in time. Missing the shopping may actually have been a blessing. Dinner looked lovely again and how nice that you have great company.

Corinna

Really cool photos in the aquarium. Love the "kissing" fish. Yes, every cruise in Cozumel that I've been to that pier they shuttle you through that shopping building. I'll keep in mind your moms use of the side door next time! Shower looked fun, too bad about singers.

She was such a nice lady!

that was just the most bizare thing!

It's such a pain.

I'll keep in mind your moms use of the side door next time!

I wish I knew her trick

Show looked fun, too bad about singers.

It would've been great if the singers had been good

I am glad we made it on time. It would've been nice to do a little shopping but I surely didn't need to spend more money. :)

Oct. 3, 2014, Friday, Day 7

This was our last full day on the ship….sadly my memory is fading on all the details, but I do have enough pictures to give me an idea of what we did.

I am sure I woke up early…because I pretty much always do.

I think I took a walk around the ship a bit and probably ended up on top watching the sea go by for a while.

I am pretty sure I got a donut to start the day and had a seat and ate it.

More of the selections.

I always love looking at these maps to see where we are.

I think I was trying to get as many pictures of the ship as I could in case I had missed some areas throughout the cruise. I only had my point and shoot with me though so they aren’t the best pictures.

The bad thing about the Caribbean Princess is that this deck is much narrower than on many other ships…however I still enjoyed it.

Hello Sea of Glass!

Back inside…..

A few pictures of an empty casino.

I headed back to the room and Mom and I got ready for breakfast.

I took a picture of tonights menu.

After breakfast, Mom wanted to head to the casino and try her luck on her new favorite machine.

I think someone was on it and she was mad, and started on another machine and after that person won a bunch and left Mom hopped on there and the machine was not winning at all then. She was so mad someone had ruined “her” machine. LOL!

I went off on my own for a bit.

I went and got a mango/strawberry smoothie and it was so good.

I just kind of chilled out today and eventually met Mom in the casino and tried my luck for a bit…..no luck for me.

Before long it was time to get lunch.

After lunch, I believe this is the day Mom went to a talk on Jackie Kennedy Jewelry. I went back to the room for something while she was there and realized I had left my key in there…so I had to go back to find Mom, get her key, then go get mine and back to hand Mom her key back again…..yeah I felt like a fool.

Mom was really impressed with the presentation.

I rested a bit and took a walk around the ship too.

Again I looked over our pictures.

Mom and I then met and had a seat in the Piazza and had some desserts.

They were setting up for a paper airplane contest so we decided to watch. We watched as many people around us took great care in folding their plane just so. The guy next to us really looked like he knew what he was doing…sadly when he threw it, it dive bombed immediately. LOL!

The goal was to throw it through the hoop.

Everyone lined up and the throwing began.

The first round was on the ground floor, the second on the second floor and the third on the third floor. Not too many people made it through the hoop.

We laughed and cheered…..It was fun to watch.

Then it was over and they started taking down the hoop. We then saw the New Zealand family walk across the Piazza and say something to someone. Mom whispers to me….”I bet she is asking if they will put the hoop back up because her boys didn’t get a chance”…ya know because we are 20 minutes late to the event. LOL!!! The guy taking down the hoop got a signal and he then put it back up. OMG!!! We couldn’t believe it. Sure enough the boys each get a piece of paper and start making airplanes and then are allowed to throw once each. We just had a laugh over it as we had experience with this family already and we have come to understand that the rules don’t seem to apply to them…or at least in their minds.

I think we separated again for a little bit and then met at the Island dining room for the wine tasting. I am not a big wine drinker at all and would normally never go to a wine tasting but it was free for being an Elite member so I decided to give it a try. Mom wanted to go to. I met Mom there and she said she tried to check in but my name wasn’t on the list. I gave them my voucher and all was fine. She had to sign up and pay for hers though. I think it was only like 8 or 9 dollars.

We had a seat and waited for the event to start.

We were supposed to eat a little something in between each tasting.

We got started with white wines first. I prefer white over red any day. They were ok, but again I am not a big wine fan.

Each wine was given a history and a bit of info about it. Honestly it was hard to understand a lot of it. The Head waiters were doing it and most have such thick accents.

I wasn’t sure when to start drinking but the ladies across from us were guzzling them down, so I started to drink as well.

I am so uneducated when it comes to wine, but Mom knows quite a bit more and told me why we were swirling it…which I admit I still don’t understand the purpose even after explained to me. LOL.

We also had a dessert type drink that was super sweet and tasty.

We got to keep the shot glass too.

It was a neat experience, but I personally wouldn’t run back to go do it again…only because I am not a wine drinker, but for the price (if I had to pay) it was a pretty cheap experience.

Now the Caribbean Princess has a head waiter named Hector. He is known as the singing waiter and he often will sing at meals. I had read about him on Cruise Critic and one night he did sing while we were leaving the dining room.

He sang a song before we all left. I believe he was singing Frank Sinatra today.

He did have a very nice voice and he was a good singer…..again it’s just not my type of thing though.

Mom either headed to the casino or back to the room for a nap….I am thinking it was a nap.

I decided to head up top and enjoy the sea for a bit.

My view while in the elevator.

This is a water feature.

I went and just leaned against the railing and looked out at the wonderful ocean. The seas were just so calm.

A look down at some of the balconies.

Now as I was looking out towards the front of the ship I spotted a water bottle floating our way and I kept watching it just float up to us and then along the side of the ship. It was so weird that in this big ocean I saw a lonely water bottle floating. I tried to get a picture but you can’t see it in the picture.

Look how beautiful it is out there.

It was time for a drink.

And I had a seat and chatted with some people.

It sounds like you had a nice relaxing last day. I can't believe that family. I would not have the nerve.

Corinna

I was playing catch-up so I'll only comment on the last update or two. It's too bad that the singers on the cruise ship were so bad. You'd think that they'd at least hire some good singers for the shows. At least the live music made up for the so-so singers.

I always enjoy your strolls around the ships. I've said it many times that I wish that we had spent more time exploring the ship when we cruised.

You sound like me on the wine drinking. I am not a drinker of anything alcoholic but we've done a wine tasting or two and I couldn't tell you a thing about what we learned. LOL!

It was. I really did a lot more relaxing on this cruise.
That family was something else for sure!

I just couldn't believe how bad the singing was. And many people commented on it throughout the cruise. It was such a shame.

I love exploring the ships. So many neat things to see.

It was a fun new experience for me, but not something I would run back to do. I am glad I tried it though.

After a while it was time to go get a shower and get ready for dinner.

We saw our Stateroom host and gave him an extra tip. He was by far the best one I have ever had. We gave him a VERY generous extra amount and he was totally worth it!

We headed to the Coral dining room where we were denied entrance. They said we were too early for any time seating as they still had some 1st seating in there. That was a first. We had come to dinner at this time almost every night and never once had an issue getting in. Oh well, we went down to the Island dining room and it was busier so they gave us a pager and we sat and waited about 5 minutes before we were called to be seated.

We were seated in an area with the same waiters we had a few nights ago. The server girl was great…her assistant was super nice but not quite with it. If you remember, she was the one who went to find out about the Mango Smoothie and took forever to get back to us. She recognized us and was so excited we came back to her. Now we didn’t request her but I think she thought we did. LOL.

Soon after we were seated the head waiter took the assistant aside and we could tell they were arguing. Evidently she had done something wrong and he was correcting her about it but she was arguing her point…..something that should not have been done in the dining room by either of them

She came back and asked if she looked ok because she had been crying and had done something wrong earlier and was upset over it. We told her she looked fine, but again it was something we shouldn’t know about either.

I started with the Escargot tonight.

I believe this was the lobster bisque.

We both got the Southern Fried Chicken.

Not the best I ever had, but it was still pretty good. Now I eat my fries with mayo and ketchup mixed so I asked our assistant for some mayo and she said sure thing and disappeared. Our server came over a couple of times and asked if she came back and we told her no. We could see her grumble under her breath and I felt so bad for her. She ended up going to the kitchen to look for her and finally my mayo arrived. This assistant server has a good heart but I don’t think serving is her calling.

For dessert I had the baked Alaska. Now I have had it before but it’s been years ago and I liked it. I did not like this one. I am not sure if it just was the way they made it or if my tastes have changed over the years, but I only took a couple of bites.

With that we left the dining room and headed out to see Duo Push was performing once again so I took a few more pictures of them.

These guys are so incredibly talented and funny too.

You want me to get on that???

If you sit along the edge, be prepared for some interaction.

And now on to the crazy stuff.

My neck hurts every time I see this.

They are such great performers. After they were done they came and retrieved the clothing they had stripped off and I heard the dark hair guy tell the lady “thanks for being a good sport”.

Nice dining experience with a server who let you in on her private affairs. :rotfl2:
Food looked nice, even if it took some time to get some mayo. Maybe she just had to make some for you. :lmao:

To say I am impressed with those two performers would be an understatement. What they do looks so unreal. Must have been even more awesome to watch in person. Thanks for sharing, Jen!

Dinner looked lovely again. What a shame that it was spoiled a little by various people airing their dirty laundry. Those entertainers look amazing.

How fun! Thanks for sharing! My hubby would do a cruise out of Galveston as we live in Texas, but I love DCl too much. However, this shows me maybe I would handle a different line.

Holy updates! All this cold weather must be keeping you inside! LOL

Love the Xcaret pics. It brings back memories :) We saw the pole swingers, but it was in the PM and they were all lit up. Really neat! Did you see the dolphin swim area? That was the one thing i really wanted to do and did when we were there.

Your food pics look great! It's so interesting to see how the cruise lines compare to DCL.

I know...it was so unprofessional.

She must have! hahaha! I did enjoy the food on the ship....I certainly never went hungry...and may have gained a few pounds!

I know....good thing Mom and I are pretty easy going.

Those entertainers look amazing.

they really were!

I love DCL so much too but I really did enjoy Princess. It is different but if you need a fix and need something more budget friendly I recommend Princess.

Holy updates! All this cold weather must be keeping you inside! LOL

LOL! I got all the pictures edited and I am trying to get both my TR's done so I can have some free time....wrok on exercising more ....or at least it's my goal.

That would be really neat!

I don't think I did...It's not ringing a bell with me at the moment at least.

Your food pics look great! It's so interesting to see how the cruise lines compare to DCL.

I thought their dining rooms were good. I think for buffets, DCL is better. Pizza is much better on Princess.
