I am so conflicted

The neurologist told my Dh and I that I should not be driving anymore because I have had a couple of fainting spells yet he said I am allowed to continue working. How does he think I am going to get there? I have had tests done with him and a cardialogist. So far they can find nothing wrong thank goodness. They want me to see a specialist in Tuscan who can't see me for a couple of months. At this point I am just mad, confused , scared, and I don't know what else. I just wish they would make it stop.

I have no advice, only ((HUGS)). I hope they can find out what the problem is and it is not serious.

I am so sorry to hear this, it must be very hard to deal with..lots of pixie dust and hugs are headed your way...

Hugs to you. I can understand your frustration. My last seizure (21 years ago) grounded me from driving for at least a year. It was frustrating not being able to run to the store or take myself to work. Added to that the worry about why I had one to begin with.

they took away your driving priveleges because you may faint behind the wheel. my BIL just went through this last year. only he did pass out at the wheel. they ran tons of tests to find out what was wrong. they eventually found out it was a medication he was on. it was causing his blood pressure to drop really low. but it didnt stay there. so it took awhile for them to find out.

{{HUGS}} to you. hope all goes well. maybe a friend from work would be willing to pick you up and you could share gas expenses?

{{{{Hugs}}}} This is a tough issue. You definitely don't want to be fainting at the wheel of your car but the doctors can't find anything wrong. I don't know what I would do if I were you. I have anxiety which stops me from driving any distances but I need to be able to drive. This is a scary time for you. Maybe you can find someone at work who can carpool, or at least drive you to the bus stop. As soon as the doctors find out your medical problem you might be able to drive again.

Is there a bus or something you can take to work? In my area, we don't have taxis or regular bus service. There's a couple of places that offer bus transportation at a VERY reasonable price. They take you right to the door of where you need to go. Can you check into something like that?

I'd feel all those things too. I'm too independent sometimes.:o

This happened to a police officer here in my town. I think it was last year. He passed out at the wheel and ran a right light and killed someone. I don't remember what they said his diagnosis was.
I am sorry that this is happening to you and that it may cause problems with your work. I hope you can find a way of getting to work w/o driving... terrible things can happen in the blink of an eye. I pray that you get well soon! {{{hugs}}}

And shame on Jason... again.;) :rolleyes:

Hopefully they will be able to nail down the cause, p-nut. No suggestions here, but sure do feel for you, I can't imagine being constrained like that. Some good suggestions above. My very best, along with my prayers for you. {{Hugs}} p-nut.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I wish there was a bus or taxi but I work at an army base that is 45 min from town on country(mainly farm and desert) roads. My only choice will be to take an extended leave until I see the new DR. Have not had a chance to talk it over with DH because he had to go back to work after appt. yesterday and won't see him until tonight(Fire chief).I think I am just still in denial and thinking it wil just go away since they can't figure out what it is.Thank you for making me see things more clearly.:D

I do know exactly how you feel, P-nut. I had to give up driving due to vision problems about three years ago. It is very hard to have to depend on others for everything but the alternative is far worse. I wish you luck in finding out what is happening with your health and I hope they can fix it for you quickly. Take care of yourself and stay safe.
