Are they going to put direct bus service from resorts to water parks back? That’s what I used my car for last trip. Five 5 minute drive to BB from AKL instead of waiting for AK bus then BB bus and reverse on way back plus having to go Kidani first. I also used to car to go to Disney Springs after waiting 40 plus minutes for AKL bus back to hotel.

So has it been confirmed that the fee is only charged to those who actually have a car in the lot? Meaning if we don't have a car we don't get charged the parking fee?

Universal charges a different rate based on the resort. Cabana Bay is $12/night + tax and RPR is $22/night + tax.
I believe everyone has the option to park at Cabana Bay regardless of which resort you stay at. I've never minded the parking charge at Universal because the resorts were significantly less and we only stayed two or three nights. Same goes for DL it's usually a 2 or 3 night stay. We stay at WDW for at least a week or more. The parking fee would really add up.

This is a blow to car rental company's. I would expect to see rental prices drop.

We stayed at Aulani and rented points and got free parking. Paid half the cost for the room over buying direct, where we would have also been charged $17 per night for the car. It was upside down.

Where do you see that? Nothing I've read says that explicitly - am I missing something?

I think this just went up today...ETA - although it doesn't specifically say it is complimentary, not that I look at it, but that's how I read it...

Plus the resorts are much closer to actual park. You aren’t spending 30 minutes to get to park or hotel in super crowded bus. Plus deluxe resorts are giving you Express pass which is worth more than parking fee.

Do "recreational experiences" include pool hopping or taking the monorail to MK? Kidding aside...the wording does leave it open for some type of parking validation system, or at least maybe tighter restrictions on day parking, but who knows...

This will be interesting. Some resorts/dining may be excluded?

Otherwise with an AP park at BC/BW, hit either ESPN/B&C/B River/F Fish for dinner, walk over to EPCOT for Illuminations and leave.

Not a bad thing for all involved if there are enough parking spaces.

I mean you currently can park for free at EPCOT/DHS with AP and do the same thing-just a lot more walking.

Oh sweet so the more money you pay for the hotel the more money it costs to park lol

I mean hey I guess they think since you saved so much to go to the top resorts, you might as well can afford more money for parking

Disney has been piling on people who enjoy staying on-site lately and really making it tough to enjoy what perks are left. The security checks already have people fuming, and now they are going to charge for parking on-site. I think they are going to lose more customers than they think they will, and I hope they do.

If they continue this trend and start charging for ME, I will take an Uber from the airport to the resort. I refuse to pay for the perks that used to be "free" (not really free). They are constantly adding upcharges lately, (dessert parties for better views of nighttime shows, extra magic morning hours, etc). They will lose customers.

We are DVC owners and don't normally drive to WDW so right now we aren't affected, but I'm sure charging for ME isn't far behind.

Yes they will lose customers, but the vast majority of us will complain forever and still fork over the dough. Does it suck? Yes, absolutely. I would hope that they would waive the overnight parking fee for those staying in the resorts for more than one night. I would imagine that they would waive the parking fee for DVC members like myself too, but who knows at this point.

So staying at a value resort (ASM) for 7 nights at lowest rates I could find ($110-$134/night without tax), the $91 more to park ($13/night) is equivalent to an 11% increase in the cost of the resort stay. Not insignificant.

9% increase on Mod (CB) over equivalent period, and only a 4% increase at equivalent time at Deluxe (GF).

Obviously smaller as a % of total WDW trip which is most relevant, but I do think it's a shame that this is that regressive in nature.

I still maintain that I do not think this will have a deleterious effect on Disney. Not enough will forego a trip or onsite stay to offset the extra $$ they pull in. Guess we'll see.

Happy we booked our July vacation in January...not happy bc they continue to make Disney more and more out of reach for people & families. I will not be having a magical day...

...

Yeah, that says that disabled parking is available, but nothing about whether disabled guests will pay for it.

I just saw the article here that says the fees will be waived for disabled guests:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/news-stories...s-for-their-resort-guests-beginning-march-21/

That's not on WDW's official site, but hopefully it's true.

My real question here is are the parking lots at the hotels even super full that they have to charge you to park now all of a sudden?

Even with this, if your visiting the resort and not staying overnight it’s free. So it’s obviously not to get all the cars out.

Why is Disney trying so hard to get people to stay away first its teared pricing for the parks to help cut down on crowds (with out hitting thier bottom line) now they add extra parking charges for staying onsite. People on a budget are quickly being priced out of being able to afford to Go to Disney

We were planning to head down this year but we may rethink our plans

I love when I see the comments like " oh but they're a business, they have to make money!". Yes...we are all aware they are a business. But there is a point where businesses start taking advantage of their customers just because they know they can. And this is definitely one of those times. I can't think of any justifiable reason for this...it's pointless and just making people mad.

It makes me sad to say this but this is the first time Disney has legitimately pissed me off

It seems to me that this is very much in line with WDW's attempt to push returning guests toward DVC. They haven't opened a deluxe resort since AKL, but they're adding more DVC capacity almost annually, even at the cost of removing resort hotel capacity (at WL and CBR). Now they'll be able to market parking as one more way that you can save by buying DVC vs. staying in a regular resort hotel.

I'm not sure what you mean. It's official now. They are charging overnight resort guests.

I think even Disney would struggle with that one. Then again.......'Sir the spot was available, you chose not to use it'. Lol.

Part of me likes that fees like this are only applied to those that use the services. It would be irritating to not park a car in the lot and still get charged the fee. However, the other half of me absolutely hates being nickled and dimed. Like I said previously, just tell me what the full nightly rate is including all taxes and fees so I can accurately make a comparison. Hidden fees drive me bonkers.

We went to WDW this past October and at the last minute my parents and one of my nieces joined us. Now, my mother works at a travel agency and was trying to book a room around 30 days out so ran into some trouble finding something. I forget now but I think their trip was 7 nights, maybe only 6. Anyway, even using her agent rate on a rental car and for 3 nights at the Doubletree I think it was the total cost including parking fees and everything was only like $150 less than just staying at one of the All Stars where you didn't have the hassle of a rental car or anything like that. I know a lot of people consider having their own car a perk rather than a hassle but even with agent rates we have never been able to make that hard math work out cheaper than just staying on site. To each their own I guess.
