This will be a very picture heavy dining review due to the fascination of me and my camera and being INSIDE the CASTLE!!
We arrived at MK at 8:10am via the monorail with plenty of time for our 8:30am ADR at CRT. Normally, we would have just walked across the street from BLT but it looked like the 1/2 marathon was passing through the crosswalk from the hotel so we took the long way by monorail.
The park opened at 9am so we proceeded to the entrance turnstiles to the left that was marked event assuming that was where we needed to go
. Apparently it was since we had no problem proceeding without anyone asking why we dared enter the park before it was open!
We had time to take some photos near the entrance and at the park bench with Roy Disney and Minnie.
And then Main Street & the Castle pictures....
There were quite a few people already in the park for breakfast ADRs and there appeared to be some special event coordinators, likely for the marathon.
We checked in for our ADR at CRT and had a short wait before we were ushered in, given our royal invitation, and stood in line to have our photo with Cinderella. Following that obligatory photo which is included in the cost of the meal, we were told to proceed upstairs.
It was a really cool vibe being inside the castle and they did a great job, obviously, with the theming. There was a knight/suit of armor that we posed with and the whole medieval theme was nice.
We went up the winding staircase to the upper floor where the restaurant was located. Once we were up there we were escorted to a perfect table for two by the window overlooking Fantasyland. We were given a wand and a wishing star nothing was explained to us but hey we didnt mind. We were eating in the castle!
Aaron was our server and he did an ok job pretty much on par with most of our service at WDW. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. Our drink orders were taken and we were also served OJ which was nice. We toasted to dining in the castle!
We were started with a plate of danishes/croissants. There were two types of croissants chocolate and butter. Im not a fan of the chocolate chip croissant so I had a butter version it was good. I also had a cinnamon roll it was, well
cinnamony and round nothing special.
We ordered off of the short menu that had 3 primary entrees and then a healthy choice option that was granola and fruit topped yogurt. I didnt actually see this but if I ordered a yogurt parfait for $50 I would feel ripped off! The other choices were a traditional breakfast; eggs, breakfast potatoes, and choice of breakfast meat; stuffed French toast cream cheese stuffed French toast with cognac chocolate ganache and raspberry puree it is served with choice of breakfast meat and fruit. And finally a goat cheese, mushroom, and spinach quiche served with rosemary lemon potatoes tossed with arugula.
Em and I both chose the stuffed French toast. I asked for a scrambled egg instead of meat and that wasnt a problem. When Aaron came to take our order I had been too busy taking photos and taking in the whole castle experience so I didnt really read the menu carefully. I hastily made my selection
everything sounded good so I hoped you couldnt go wrong with any of the choices.
Cool goblets for beverages:
The meal was served fairly quickly they must have these lined up and waiting to be whisked to the guest.
Inside of "stuffed french toast"
The French toast wasnt at all what I expected not bad... just different. It looked more like a big muffin with a gooey cream cheese middle. It had raisins which I liked. Im not a fan of chocolate sauce so had I paid attention to the menu I would have asked for that to be omitted. The raspberry colis was very good. Overall, I thought it was a little on the bland side again, not what I was expecting but it was not horrible. My side of eggs were perfect no complaints there.
Em noticed that we hadnt received our fruit. I had to flag down Aaron and ask for the fruit for Em I decided I wasnt going to eat it at that point so why waste it. He apologized and said he didnt know why they didnt include it. Im assuming he was blaming the kitchen even though he carried out our plates of food! Regardless, he brought it out promptly.
The pace of everything seemed to be very rushed but I figured that they had to get as many people in and out as quickly as possible. We had overheard the hostess saying to a group that they were overbooked. Seeing as how this is such a popular place, I can understand that.
Since I have so many photos I am breaking this into 2 parts.
More to follow.....
