@JETS70, as I mentioned earlier I had watched a YT review of Boyd’s Key West campground after I made my reservation. And I was thinking to myself, I just paid 90.00 a night for this. But the damage was done and I wouldn’t get my deposit refunded so like I said I came in with a opened mind.
My thoughts an Boyd’s Key West Campground
While technically the Campground is not located in Key West, it is located on Stock Island, a short 4-5 mile drive to the center of KW. There is 2 shopping plazas with food and department stores and restaurants.
Here is the Campground map
They have Kayak rentals at one of the beaches also.
While there are beaches there is no swimming. While there is seaweed washed up on the beaches, just like at all the public swimming area that we went to in KW, you can put a chair out and relax.
Let’s talk noise. While Boyd’s is located a little ways, maybe 1/2 mile in town and on a main rd. you can’t really tell unless you have one of those back in sites along Maloney dr.
KW does have a airport and also a N.A.S. near by, yes, you will have noise from planes and jets.
For the RV’ers coming in they do escort you to you site and help you back in and if needed pull out. There are vehicles parked right next to the road so it is tight, but doable.
Most of the rev sites have a concrete padfor the picnic table to sit on.
Bathhouses, while there are plenty around and they do a good job at keeping them clean, there is only 2 toilets and 1 urinal with 3 sinks and one electric hand dryer, DW says 3 toilets in women’s room. The showers we have been using, 4 of them between the men’s and women’s room, unisex, are big and spacious. I would say bigger than FW showers. There is no bench to put your belongings, there is 3 hooks to hang your stuff from in the dry area of the shower and no shelf to put body products on, you have to use the floor, UNLESS you use one of the end showers which has a vent sill to put your products on. I will post a pic of showers later I don’t have one now.
RV sites are close together but not like the review I watched. Peoples awnings are not touching other peoples rv’s, even the ones that have slides on both sides.
I will get better pics of rv’s next to each other, plenty of room.
If you have a boat you can bring that behind your MH and they will use a bobcat to launch and retrieve so you don’t have to back down the ramp.
If you do bring a boat or rent one they do have dock side sites.
There is plenty for the kids to do, pool, game area park is big enough to bike ride, tv’s with the remotes outside so they can watch what they want. You can walk your dogs, plenty of pet stations around and dumpsters. That was another complaint from the review, dog poo everywhere, I haven’t noticed, and I walk this campground at least 15 times a day.
What else, the review mentioned the smell of the campground was awful, I haven’t noticed any type of offensive smell.
Price yes the price is high and while you might not have a huge site and little privacy, your in a tourist area. The only time your neighbors are going to see you is if they walk by or your out under your awning and there inside looking out there windows.
