For what ever reason, either a mistake or trying something new, MS allowed members to segment their reservations which allowed the DDP for a portion of their stay.
According to my sources, Disney expected members to to book the DDP for a few days of lets say a 7 day stay.
What happened in reality was members booked the DDP for 2 days then the no DDP for 2 days, then the DXDDP for 2 days, then no plan. The Front Desk was spending more time trying to keep the DDP straight then they were checking people in. The reservation system wasn't designed for this and soon members were getting upset because of the problems and confusion.
Disney canceled the segmented test and put things back the way were. One DDP for the length of stay for everyone on the reservation.
If you are moving from one resort to another or are changing the type of room at the same resort, for DDP purposes, you are starting another length of stay and you can get the DDP for that stay.
