We Have a wonderful trip! :)

Your pics remind me of the contrast between St Thomas and St John. It's probably been ten years since we have actually "stayed" on St Thomas during a cruise stop. We always take the ferry over to St John. Pinel looks to be the same!

Thanks! My flight leaves this morning at 10 am.

What is your favorite beach on St. John? Its such a lovely place.

We did a transatlantic last year on Royal Carribbean and they confiscated anything you brought on board, not to be returned till departure. Drinks on ship were very expensive and watered down. What a bummer.
The difference is that usually the prices to get onboard on Disney are so much higher, they don't have to rely on the onboard revenue as much as other cruise lines so they don't worry about being the liquor police. They get their money up front instead of trying to nickel and dime you everywhere.

Barcelona is a fascinating city architecturally and you can see a lot in one day. But it's sort of out of the way as far as travel goes; whereas, London you will get back to several times over your life.

Its not out of the way if you cruise frequently! We've been to Barcelona once a year for about 4 years now and this year we'll be there twice. ;) Never been to London yet, but that has more to do w/ the currency conversion than anything else.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

SHARK DIVING

I have a few spots available if you want to do a shark dive in St. Maarten's. It will be a 2 tank dive with one of them being a shark dive. This is an awesome opportunity to see some sharks up close and personal.
If you have an interest or questions please PM me.

Sent you a PM, Jill, with a few questions :)

i'm considering doing something similar to this for our cruise:

maybe more of a travelling mickey than a roaming gnome though. what do you guys think? just a bit of a laugh, but would people join in and keep it going? i just like the idea of seeing how far he can go in two weeks.

Karen - FUN! We have the Travelocity roaming gnome and thought of bringing him along for photo opps. There is also a Mickey garden gnome available but I think it is quite a bit larger than the Travelocity version and it would be hard to haul him around.

Great idea...:thumbsup2

I had a lot of people respond to the Gibraltar tour with Paul and I hope I got back to everyone. I have even more respect for people who organize these events now as it was very difficult for me to keep the people who PM'd me and emailed me privately straight. Right now I have our group of 4, a group of 2 and a single of 1. Is there another single out there who would like to join us to make 8 in the van? Please PM if so.

Thanks

Count us in to take part in travelling gnome/mickey would be fun to see how many people can sign it in 2 weeks!:cool1:

This is unbelieveable - bring a drink to dinner from your room? Great! We did a transatlantic last year on Royal Carribbean and they confiscated anything you brought on board, not to be returned till departure. Drinks on ship were very expensive and watered down. What a bummer.

That's why we love Disney!...lol Really, we had no problems bringing our wine to dinner or to the Promenade Lounge... or anywhere for that matter. You can get glasses from room service, bartenders, or from your table the night before.
Enjoy!

You mentioned that the duty free shop sells liquor onboard. Are you allowed to take this to your room, or do you have to wait to receive it till you disembark?

If you buy liquor in the duty free shop it will not be delivered to your room until the last night of the cruise. So you must bring on what you want to drink on the ship. Or buy it at the bars.

That is cute... can we do more than one? I would love doing that as well. Maybe we could have several and start a new dis tradition...lol

Ahhh.... hmmmm.... we married on Hawksnest, so that holds a special place. We've done the beach hopping in a dinghy on the north shore, and each one had unique characteristics. Loved snorkeling Cinnamon to see the old plane (some people love snorkeling shipwrecks, we found it exciting snorkeling to find an old Piper!). Salt Pond had the best sea turtle experiences. Cruise lazy day... Honeymoon beach to watch the catamarans between St John and St Thomas. We did engagement pics on a land trip there at the Westin, but not crazy about that beach. I'm just so excited to get back to Jost VanDyke and see St John from there, and be able to show Sarah through the binoculars "that's where Mommy and Daddy exchanged rings!". So many wonderful memories of St John. Saddens me the USVI has had more homicides this year though :(

I LOVE IT!!! And with 14 nights, SURELY it can make it lots of places!!

I hear ya on coordinating!! We are confirmed with Paul, but he is letting us know closer to then what time for our family of 4.

I won't be posting much this weekend. I'm off to Maryland tomorrow for a friend's baby shower (she's having twin boys!) so I won't be on the boards until Monday morning.

Have fun! Twins, what a blessing.

I have to say Jacqueline that I am a bit jealous of you & your dad. I lost my dad 7 1/2 years ago and miss him all the time.

Oh hun, Losing a parent never is easy.

Ditto, Jacqueline!! Surgery and recovery are no fun, but I'm so glad it finally got scheduled for you! I had a relative with malignant kidney cancer, and it was TWO MONTHS before they could schedule to have that kidney removed this spring! :scared1: Hospitals and their OR schedules... grrr....

Unbelievable!! We actually just had oncologists ringing the alarmbell. Our healthcare system is being hit with unbelievably harsh downcuts, which has resulted in oncologists (amongst others) standing up and speaking up. Apparently we're going to see extensive waitlists again for oncology surgery. Those things really makes you wonder about society. How in earth can we ever find long waitlists even close to acceptable in life-threatening situations?

Living next door to the folks has it advantages as well as disadvantages, Dad is always around to help fix things for me, David (husband) is not very good with labour type jobs, if fact things seems to fall apart when he tries to fix anything around the house :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: so Dad always saves the day, even for 83 he still likes to do jobs around the house, the disadvantage about living next door is being on a diet and not be able to eat Mum's fabulous food.

Hope your Dad's op goes well, please keep us updated on both of your ops.

Burnice

Grin, that sounds so familiar. My "granddad" (we adopted eachother and apart from biology he is my granddad and mothers father) was the same way as your dad. He lived on the other side of the street my parents lived, actually moved there to be closer. And with a distance of only 5 km, he was here all the time also. He actually literally was doing heavy duty construction work in my parents home (we remodeling to fit my powerchair) on his last "home day" as he'ld called it. That night he went into hospital to die 2 weeks later, turned out he had 3 types of non-connected cancers. He looked a lot like the gnoom Chris posted sizewise but just like your dad, nothing could stop him from saving the day and fixing anything and all and totally disrespecting their age in that. ;)

How next door are you guys? Should I be thinking in the way of the set up of many of the suburbs or more like the countryside set up in WA?

I just read that post and found it a great thing. However joining in? Isn't it supposed to be an unpredictable-ish thing? As in not knowing where he'ld show up and surprising the next DIS-er if he happens to show up on your door? I can see where you'ld want to test the waters so to see if enough of us would find it a nice touch, but just my personal taste I wouldn't do any signing up or anything if enough find it a nice touch. Just let it be a bit of surprise :wizard: being sprinkled. Heck, worst case scenario we could always ask the CM's to put him on another door with "a bag hanging from a fish". :rotfl2:

And again; thanks all for the wellwishing, it's hartwarming. :)

We did something fairly similar on our PC cruise in 2008. Another fun thing to do.:thumbsup2 and something that doesn't require a LIST!!!:lmao:

There are two of us, looking for something to do in Gibraltor can you PM the plans

I just watched the last of an era for our space program. It was a beautiful launch of Atlantis our last space shuttle. I have such pride for what the United States has accomplished with our space program, Cape Canaveral will not be the same.:sad2::sad2: God speed to the crew on board.

I was more getting a feeling of what people thought, instead of actually signing anyone up. I was wondering whether people would keep it going or if I'd go to the trouble of doing it and it'd get lost somewhere along the way because someone thought it was a naff idea. Think I will go ahead with it though, sounds like people are game for keeping him going :)

I'd definitely keep it going if it found it's way on to my door, what a fab idea. :thumbsup2

sounds great, we would keep it up :)

It's often called "Mickey Tag," played with a Mickey Mouse head-shaped magnet. I like the full sheet magnet specific to our cruise details - and lots of room for signatures.

I suppose we could give it away at the end to a lucky winner attending our Group Lunch on the final Sea Day - sort of a door prize.

We can incorporate Chris&Jeremy's Mickey gnome image on the magnet.
