Thank you PSAC. My father has an illness that we live day to day with so there would be the outside chance that I would need to change the date last minute and if I understand with the DVC point rental I would lose the money. Maybe I should stick with the Inn this time since I could just change the date of the trip with no penalty that way. I guess I'll just hope for the 30% RO discount to save some money.

Thank you again for your help!

You're welcome, glad to help. Sorry about your father. The DVC cancel rules are complex, it depends on how far in advance and the use year of your contract, but the points could be completely lost. That's generally why places like David's just have a blanket no cancellation rule. Good luck with a discount!

We are very excited to be able to visit the BWI CL to celebrated mine and DH's 1/2 century birthdays with the family. This will be a big change for us from the WL MK area; however, we just love EPCOT! Therefore, please add us to your list of visitors for 7/30 - 8/5, 2014. Now I'm off to read the many pages of post to learn more about this fabulous resort and area. :cheer2:

Yay, psac! Love the photo! I switched from Poly to BWI CL for our stay later this week based on our love of BWI CL, possible Poly construction, proximity to Epcot and the fact that previous years' race instructions indicated the monorail would not run the morning of the 5K and might not be running early enough for the kids' races.

Now it turns out that Poly construction is minimal (at least compared to what it will be) and the race instructions for this year say the monorail will be running for ALL THREE of our Princess Half Marathon weekend events. So I'll admit to a few moments of resort remorse - wondering if I made the right decision - but psac's photos always remind me that I did. (Along with mention of Pete, Jackie, Anita, Lorenzo, Scott, etc. here and there - Innkeepers' Club CMs are great!)

Hi-

Just booked CL at BWI for this June, 14th-21st. Very excited! Inspired by this thread. Thanks for all the great info!

(Also wanted to point out that it appears the renovations to the CL will be finished a bit sooner than June 17th. We had no issues booking for the 14th)

We got in Saturday for our first stay here . We love it! Only complaint so far is the walk from our room to elevator is super long! There should totally be another elevator on this side of the building but oh well :) we're already walking a ton. Just not ideal with 2 small ones and a stroller. I didn't request a room with a view of Epcot but we do have one! We can see the Eiffel Tower.

The ability to walk to 2 parks is great. We love that aspect! My son went swimming yesterday and I was surprised how many people were at the pool. A bit too cold for my taste but when you come from 14 degree weather anything feels better! :)

I am not sure what the savings would be but we rented points from someone and we purchased ( on our own not thru who we rent from) travelers insurance incase we needed to cancel for any reason, it was fairly inexpensive for the three of us, something you could look into if the price difference was worth it !!

Thanks for the info! My DH said to do what causes the least amount of stress so I think we'll stay with the Inn. It's his first visit to WDW and I'm toying with upgrading to CL if I get the RO discount so he gets used it it and then will always want it :cool1: I mentioned squeezing in a trip to UIOA and he said we can do that the next trip so just thinking ahead :rotfl2:

Can you say where you found insurance, like what company and maybe a ballpark of what it cost? Does it matter how many of you in the party? Myself and my DD23 are going for 8 nights 1st week in Dec. I've never really done trip insurance but I guess depending on how inexpensive it was, it might be worth it.

We are renting a studio at BWV but probably will waitlist for BCV, not sure how that will go, lol. We can waitlist at end of April. But after getting BWV, DD23 really wants to go back to BCV after our trip there this past Dec. I'm not sure where I want to stay, both are great, lol, so I go back and forth! Has anyone done the waitlist for a BWV to BCV? Is it something more likely to go thru, or not so much? I will probably post this question in a new thread just to get more thoughts, but since I'm here... lol! :p TIA! :goodvibes

I got it from nexion it cost us $200 and it goes by the cost of the trip rather then amount of people. That $200 covers the cost of three days disney world and 7 night disney cruise :) I have always booked directly thru disney this is my first time renting so I am new to all of this and will see how it goes :) if you google personal travel insurance there are a lot of places that offer it but my travel lady for my cruise did everything for me !! Hope this helps !!

So excited!!!

We had a June trip planned for this year staying at POFQ but were all a bit bummed because we stayed at BWI last year. Yesterday, DH & I decided to go back to BWI!!! Kids are absolutely thrilled and so are DH & I. Now my fingers are crossed for a discount that starts June 15th.

I was wondering if anyone ever put up a curtain in the bathroom area. It is the one thing I missed last year not staying in a moderate. We are planning on driving, so I'm thinking we could bring a curtain and tension rod to put up for extra privacy while changing.

Thanks so much!!!

Just wanted to add my name to the visit list!

October 25-29, 2014 BWV
:thumbsup2

Would like to be added to the visitors list please August 1-4/2014
It looks like your dates are already in the BoardWalk Bulletin:)

We check out of BWV tomorrow. :(. We have loved our trip and really enjoyed the convenience to the parks.
Still doing AK tomorrow and we decided to add a day and do a second day at HS on Sunday. We had already booked an off site night for Saturday night since we would be at AK all day. Not going to be as nice as the boardwalk but my kids just want to ride TSM a few more times.
I hope you had an easy trip back home and can start planning your next trip soon.

Congratulations on booking. Make sure your birthdays are noted in your reservation:)

Oh, that darn psac and his tempting photos! He's a bad, I mean good influence;). Do you need to do a split stay?

:welcome: to the DIS and the BWI/BWV thread! Thank you for the date correction. I'll update the first page entry with 6/13, though it might be a bit earlier. I hope you have a wonderful stay at the Innkeeper's Club!

Thank you for the update. Do you think you'll add a request to be "close to the elevator" if you return?

Yippee for the great resort switcheroo! I can't answer your curtain question, but hopefully someone else can. Happy planning!

Have fun with he races and everything and enjoy the trip! I can understand your wanting to stay at the Poly, we loved it in our first stay last year. We were unexpectedly blown away. But It won't be the same again. It could turn out great, but not the same.

Anyway, get some ice cream from Seashore Sweets, or a cupcake from the Boardwalk Bakery, and sit out on the BW, and enjoy something you can't get at the Poly. :thumbsup2

I resemble that remark!

We are staying at BWV April 29- May 3rd! I have been reading this thread to get me excited!

Just a question - when looking at DVC points charts, I don't see a Boardwalk View Option. Is that available? We are currently booked in a preferred pool/garden view studio. Is it a request?

It's the same points as a Preferred View, but it's a special booking category. Obviously those book up before the Preferred View since it is the same points. I'm sure after the fact they regretted not charging more points for BW view!!

Great advice and I'll add that pixarmom can also enjoy not being beeped at by housekeeping carts, having a guaranteed balcony, no construction and the Buskers.

What a great photo to see first thing in the morning, psac:goodvibes
