We Came, We Saw, We NAILED It! 2 BFFs Take On The World **9/1 One Man's Dream**

I think you just convinced me to add another ADR to our next trip. I need that crab Rangoon roll!!

Yummy Kona and boo for blisters. Hopefully she caught in time and they didn't get too bad.

Thankfully she did, although she did end up having to wear tennis shoes the rest of the week. I had purchased new Crocs flip flops right before we left, and thought for sure I would have blisters AND probably sore feet, but I wore them every single day of the trip!

After we got back from the hotel, we decided to check out Pirates of the Caribbean again. Thankfully it was working and the line wasn't too bad. We were thoroughly entertained by a young lad in line behind us who was maybe 6 or 7 and quite the flirt/charmer. To his mom, good luck during the teenage years! It did help the time in line go by faster.

After Pirates, we headed back over to Fantasyland.

Most of my life, I had an irrational fear of being trapped on "It's A Small World."

In my freshman year of college, we went on a trip to Disneyland, and the unthinkable thing happened. We were TRAPPED on It' A Small World. It was only about 15-20 minutes, but it felt like days!

Megan told me it was time to "get over it" and so I did.

There is so much to pay attention to in this ride, I have a really hard time just sitting back and enjoying it!

Here are just a few pictures...

When we finished, it was precisely...

DSC00241_zpse874ba7d.jpg

We had a FastPass+ for Dumbo, which I had never ridden on before, so we headed over. We quickly realized that there was NO line for Dumbo, so we changed the Fastpass on the fly for Peter Pan. Unfortunately, it didn't save properly, but whatever.

I think Dumbo is a pretty fancy looking ride!

After Dumbo and our failed attempt at Peter Pan, we had just a little bit of time left before it was time to check in for dinner, so we decided to do some shopping up and down Main Street. We didn't find anything that interested us just yet...but don't worry, some SERIOUS shopping happened later on during the trip.

We checked in for dinner at Tony's. The goal was to sit on the patio since 1) It was a nice night out and 2) I've never seen the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disney World. We were given a great spot, unfortunately, my pictures looked like this...

This one wasn't sooooo bad...

And here's my dining review from Tony's

Tony's was definitely one of the restaurants that I was most worried about for our trip. People always seem to be pretty polarized by Tony's, but we figured we would give it a try.

We arrived about twenty minutes early for our ADR and requested a table on the porch as the Main St. Electrical parade was about to start. I have never actually seen this parade in Disney World, although I was able to see it once at Disneyland years and years ago.

While we were waiting, a nice young man came up and asked us if we would like to try our hand at tossing a pizza, to which Megan kindly obliged.

DSC00254_zpsd9dcce21.jpg

After about a 25 minute wait it was finally our turn to be seated. They whisked us past the dessert cart, and much to my dismay, there was NO pistachio crème brulee, which was really the main reason for booking a reservation here. But, fear not, it remains on the dessert menu. Crisis averted, we were excited to get a PRIME table right at the edge of the porch and were seated about 5 minutes before the parade started.

Meghan was our server (we had sort of a theme of people named Megan and Jessica throughout our trip) and she was delightful and adorable. The poor thing had nearly lost her voice, but she was still pleasant and friendly and made some great recommendations.

I was very disappointed to find out that they have replaced the portabella mushroom ravioli with a squash ravioli. I had planned on ordering that, but really do not care for squash, so needed to make a last minute change up.

For appetizers, Megan ordered...

DSC00268_zps8139cede.jpg

Pezzi Parmesan Bread - with a creamy alfredo and marinara dipping sauce (serves two) $7.49

The bread was really good, but the sauces were a bit lackluster. This was a large size portion for one person, however I don't think it truly is enough for two people, unless you were only looking for a little taste.

I was looking for something a little less filling, so I went with...

DSC00266_zps97234b51.jpg

Caesar Salad - Romaine lettuce tossed in Caesar Dressing topped with Romano Cheese and Crostini $5.99

The dressing was good, but I actually felt the salad was a little under dressed. Admittedly, I do like a bit more dressing on my salad, but this did leave me wanting more.

Nothing really appealed to Megan from the menu, but Meaghan (it's getting confusing now!) was able to accommodate her request for spaghetti with marinara sauce.

DSC00277_zps92d4c9a4.jpg

Not pictured here was the MASSIVE plate of grated cheese Meghan brought out at other Megan's request.

DSC00276_zps9446829f.jpg

I ordered the shrimp scampi.

Shrimp Scampi - Linguini with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Asparagus tossed in a Garlic sauce $19.99

I requested this with extra garlic, which Meaghan confirmed was a wise choice. I actually loved this. The sauce was light, buttery, with just a touch of acid from some lemon. The extra garlic definitely helped this dish along. It wasn't my favorite shrimp scampi of all time (I did live in New York City and had access to amazing Italian food) but it was definitely adequate.

For dessert, we were boring and both went with the same thing...

DSC00278_zps8d726ae2.jpg

The pistachio crème brulee. It was AMAZING!! Thick, rich, creamy. It could have used a bit more pistachio flavor though. The candied pistachios in the edible sugar basket off to the side were also tasty and a nice touch.

Overall, we left very satisfied with both the food and our service. I was a little worried about missing Wishes, but we made it out on time without feeling like our meal was being rushed. I would definitely return to Tony's again, but I do wish they would bring back the mushroom ravioli!

We had just enough time after dinner to head up to the train station at the end of Main Street to watch the fireworks. As it turns out, this wasn't the greatest place to watch, because we couldn't see the fireworks that were higher. Lesson learned for next time!

We had really planned to enjoy extra magic hours after this, but we really had a FULL day, and decided to head back to the hotel.

Your Kona meal looks good - I wonder if that is a standard issue they have with wait staff/the kitchen there as that was the one meal our last trip where the server disappeared for a bit and some of the food took a while to come out ... maybe the kitchen isn't big enough to handle the size of the restaurant? :confused3

Dumbosure is pretty - especially once they turn the lights on!

That's great that you got an outside table at Tony's. Eating while being able to watch the MSEP is a pretty great scenario!

great tr!

Thank you!

It was the perfect scenario because I'm not super crazy about the parade, honestly. I had seen it in Disneyland and was very much looking forward to Spectromagic when I went on my first trip to Disneyworld, only to arrive and find out they had moved MSEP there instead. Sometimes, you just can't win!

Ah Tony's! I actually really going there - I ate there a couple times over my CP and the food was always good. I do find service hit or miss there though. I think it's a decent option in MK especially with picky eaters! Loving the TR so far!

Hahah oh my gosh. I read the part about Small World to my boyfriend, and he was like, "that would be horrible!" He's weird about small world. He doesnt like it..but he goes on it because hes there kind of thing

Thanks for stopping by! I too think its one of the better TS options in MK. We have eaten at Liberty Tree, but their vegetarian options just didn't appeal to us, so I'm glad we went with Tony's.

If he ever ends up getting stuck, it is totally and completely not my fault. Lol.

looking forward to hearing more!

Stay tuned!

We headed off to The Contemporary for breakfast. We left a little extra time since it was the first time we were driving to a resort and we wanted to leave enough time. I'm glad we did, since the GPS took us the slightly wrong way, and we missed where we had to merge right after going under the Magic Kingdom gates.

We arrived and parked the car (next time, we might go with an AP to score free valet parking with the Tables in Wonderland card.)

We checked in for breakfast and were quickly seated.

And here's the review for breakfast...

One of my favorite breakfast spots from last trip was a bit unexpected! I knew right away that I needed to go back!

So off we were to The Wave at The Contemporary this morning!

Since our plan was to "drink around the world" throughout the day, we knew that a solid breakfast was needed.

I really had wanted to try the buffet (I'm a girl that usually likes to sample!) but what I was really after was some eggs benedict, because last time, the hollondaise sauce really knocked my socks off.

They sent a chef out for us, and we explained that we were pretty comfortable with what to avoid (sadly no grits for us, they were loaded with bacon.) I mentioned that I had really wanted the buffet to sample a few things, but that what I wanted most was some eggs benedict without the ham (like a wierdo.) Really, I would have been happy with a glass of that hollondaise for breakfast.

The chef (I REALLY wish I had gotten his name!) very kindly offered to make me some eggs on an english muffin with the sauce, or he said he could make me a smoked salmon eggs benedict and he said he would bring out my special order and I could still enjoy the buffet.

With that in mind, we both ended up getting the buffet.

DSC00293_zps0a303020.jpg

My first plate consisted of (clockwise from top left) fresh pineapple, which was incredibly fresh, a sticky bun, emphasis on the sticky and it was equally delicious, sweet potato pancakes with honey pecan butter, they are like a pumpkin pie in a pancake form and are one of my favorites, and some smoked salmon and hard boiled egg.

DSC00294_zps1bf04256.jpg

Megan was feeling the need for some healthy food this morning and went with some fruit and veg and a small pastry.

After a few minutes, my masterpiece finally arrived...

DSC00295_zps671115de.jpg

The eggs were cooked perfectly, the salmon was nice and chilled still, and the hollondaise was perfection. The muffin was also cut SUPER thin, not at all like the thick, dense ones I find in the store. It was amazing and left me feeling not overly full. I resisted the urge to lick my plate!

For a little additional protein, I also ordered this as my beverage...

DSC00296_zps1e5f7621.jpg

Mega-Berry Smoothie - Raspberry Puree and Nonfat Yogurt blended with Odwalla Berries GoMega (an excellent source of Omega-3) $4.99

It was delicious!

All in all, a GREAT meal here. The food was all hot and fresh, and the place is mostly deserted!

We retrieved the car and headed off to Epcot. We arrived around 8:30 and I could already tell it was MUCH busier this trip than it was last trip.

The entry plaza looked like this...

DSC00297_zps9b574815.jpg

They let everyone in about 15 minutes before 9. Getting through the turn styles with Magic Bands was an endless point of frustration for us this trip. It took FOR.EVER. It was about 5 after 9 before we finally made it in. We bolted (while walking in an orderly fashion) to Soarin'.

We then made our way across the park to take a spin on Test Track where I found my new dream car...

DSC00299_zpsfc00d811.jpg

I was fully prepared to hate the new version. I actually really loved it! Of course we had to make a pink car...

DSC00301_zps26ab6c98.jpg

Our car ended up winning, so we were quite pleased...

We stopped by the pin traders where Megan picked up a pin!

DSC00303_zps7c88a628.jpg

And then we made our way over to...

DSC00307_zps3062b795.jpg

DSC00308_zps6bea2089.jpg

There was a bit of a wait, but we really didn't have anything else to do until we could start our party in the World Showcase.

We had to take a selfie, of course...

DSC00311_zps84a84852.jpg

We wandered around not really doing anything until it was time to get our Wisconsin on! There's nothing like a little day drinking to brighten your day.

Love epcot!

Did you find it to be kinda busy during your stay?? Your dates are similar to when I was thinking..

We had a bit of a debate about which side of the world to start drinking on. Being a lover of all things tequila, my vote was to start the day in Mexico at La Cava, and end it in Mexico at La Hacienda for dinner. So, off to Mexico we went. I love the Mexico pavillion and think it is one of the most beautiful in all of the World Showcase.

DSC00326_zps93fb3c69.jpg

We were SUPER excited to get to La Cava only to find...

DSC00328_zps6b8c46f1.jpg

That they were closed. Apparently day drinking in Mexico doesn't start until noon. This lead to this reaction...

DSC00329_zps6bc84300.jpg

We forged on to Norway, where we found this awesome looking troll...

DSC00336_zps261df323.jpg

and stopped in at the bakery there. We were pleased to find that they offered a nice breakfast-y adult beverage...

The Viking Coffee. It's coffee, with the generic brand of Kahlua, some Bailey's and your choice of either mocha or vanilla flavoring. You can order this either iced or warm. I ordered mine iced, and Megan ordered hers warm. She has a thing about iced coffee.

We took a few minutes to sit on a bench and just enjoy the early morning hustle and bustle of the World Showcase.

After that we mosied over to China, where they already had the Panda topiaries set up for the Flower & Garden Festival.

DSC00339_zps54f17081.jpg

We immediately went for the Peach Snap, which we split.

This was nice and refreshing, and very peach flavored!

We continued on and didn't stop for much in China, because we were trying to get halfway around the World Showcase before lunch.

Next up was Germany, where we decided it would be best to have a little snack from the carmel shop with our drink.

We got a glass of Selbach-Oster Riesling which I think is very sweet, but Megan found a little dry for her liking. She likes wine that tastes like juice.

Megan ordered a big piece of caramel...

DSC00349_zpsc364ad5e.jpg

And I ordered a chocolate covered strawberry with caramel drizzle, whose picture has disappeared.

Both were buttery and delightful and heavenly, and went nicely with the wine.

They also had the Snow White topiary up in Germany already...

DSC00353_zps88dfc4e6.jpg

Next up was Italy, you can see the sky was beginning to get a little overcast...

DSC00354_zps817e3a00.jpg

We stopped in the wine shop, and both ordered a glass of Rosa Regale.

0E2AF189-4FE6-4CF1-B62D-9E940E9337A8-377-0000002D979601B7_zps30194a55.jpg

I find this to be very sweet, but it is nice and bubbly and refreshing. We took our drinks down to the boat launch just in time for the rain to start. We waited about 15 minutes for a boat, and by the time it arrived, the rain had stopped. When we got back to Future World it was just about time for our ADR at Coral Reef...so off we went!

Thanks for sharing your trip report!

My GPS is useless at Disney. Last year I ended up on a Fort Wilderness service road.
