We Came, We Saw, We NAILED It! 2 BFFs Take On The World **9/1 One Man's Dream**

Hmm I may have to drink around the world next trip! Or at least half the world ;)

Cant wait to hear about Coral Reef! Im thinking about it next trip!

ah, day drinking ... recently read a lengthy article on the art of day drinking and how to start to prepare your body, etc.

That is a bummer about La Cava not being open when World Showcase opens ... that is my favorite spot in World Showcase and they have the best margaritas!

You made pretty good progress though and worked out well to get to the boat launch to get back to Future World for your lunch!

Love epcot!

Did you find it to be kinda busy during your stay?? Your dates are similar to when I was thinking..

I found it busier than when we went 2 years ago at the same time, but not as busy as it might be at other times of the year.

Thanks for sharing your trip report!

My GPS is useless at Disney. Last year I ended up on a Fort Wilderness service road.

I think I know that road! There were a few times when GPS took us way out of the way!

The meal was so-so for us, but the experience was great!

OMG!! Totally loving your trip report!!! Can't wait for more!!

Thank you!

It did work out perfect for us. Stay tuned for round 2!

Drinks and snacks look delicious!! Sorry to hear about your magic band frustrations! We're a party of 6 going in about a month, and with 6 of us, I'm expecting something to go wrong! Surely it's not going to work perfectly for ALL of us!

I just really liked the old way much better. For the first few days I couldn't get my band to work, until I realized I was using the wrong thumb! I have always used my right thumb with the tickets, but since I am left handed, I wore the band on my right hand, and used my left thumb the first time.

And here's the review from Coral Reef...

Last trip, I was thoroughly disappointed that they were not offering the Lobster Mac & Cheese at Coral Reef on the day that we dined, which was my main reason for booking an ADR here.

I decided to give it another try though.

We arrived about 15 minutes early for our ADR and requested a tank side table. The lobby was very busy, but it was only about a 10 minute wait for us and we were brought to a table right next to the tank.

We started off with some rolls...

DSC00358_zps923d74ae.jpg

They were served super warm, and we dove right in. We needed some carbs to absorb the alcohol. We definitely were not going to have any more alcohol with lunch.

For appetizers, I started with...

DSC00359_zpsd39c5135.jpg

Seared Crab Cakes - with tropical fruit salsa and tequila aioli $12.99

The menu now says that these were served with tequila aioli and fruit salsa. When I had them they were served with a green apple and jicama slaw. I LOVED the slaw. It was crisp, tart and refreshing. I do wish there were a sauce to go with the crab cakes though. They did look like these were almost burned, but that flavor didn't come through at all.

Megan went with this...

DSC00360_zpsfa37ee86.jpg

Creamy Lobster Soup - tarragon and brandy $8.49

This was thick, rich and creamy, but was a bit overwhelming on a hot day.

For entrees, we both decided to go with...

DSC00361_zps12265d27.jpg

Coral Reef Lobster Orecchiette Pasta - with White Cheddar Cheese and Basil Oil $28.49

At long last it was mine!! And...?

I was thoroughly disappointed.

The pasta was overcooked and mushy, and the whole thing just really lacked any punch of flavor. The lobster was lovely and mild, but I felt the cheese sauce needed something. Maybe a bit of spice or a sharper cheese. I ate about half because I needed the carbs, but other than that I really could have done without this.

For dessert, we went with...

DSC00362_zps984126c6.jpg

The Chocolate Wave - served with Raspberry Gelato (contains alcohol) $8.49

This was excellent and very rich!

DSC00363_zps8c41eec5.jpg

Coconut Mango Chiffon Cake - with raspberry sauce $7.99

I don't care for Mango at all, so I didn't try this. Megan did not care for it, and said the Mango flavor tasted very fake.

Overall, the food wasn't the greatest we had on our trip, but the experience of sitting next to the tank was fabulous!

Here are some of the pictures from our lunch...

So, after lunch at Coral Reef, we happened to wander right past Club Cool on our way back to the World Showcase. What better place to get refreshed before heading out for day drinking, than to try some Beverly for the very first time...?

I mean, honestly. Is there a good seasoned DISer out there, that hasn't taken advantage of a newbie on one of their trips with the Beverly?

So, in we went. We began sampling. Megan says "Have you tried these before?"

"Oh yes, all of them. My favorite is the Beverly. I think I am going to try this new pineapple flavored one though..."

And this is what followed...

Sleep with one eye open tonight missy...

The best part?

After all of that she goes "I've tried that before! On an 8th grade trip to Atlanta. I had completely blocked it from my memory."

So, Megan's palate sufficiently cleansed, we headed back to The World Showcase...

Bummer about the Lobster Mac & Cheese being a disappointment. Overcooked pasta just ruins whatever is with it ... at least you enjoyed your appetizer.

"We needed some carbs to absorb the alcohol" ... that's the main reason I drink - to justify the carbs I eat :rotfl:

I like the picture of the underside of the sting ray ... they always look like they are smiling - I guess swimming in a tank at Disney would make one happy!

Nice work getting your bestie to drink the Beverly and how funny that she had tried it before but her brain blocked it out :lmao:

Just started reading your trip report. It's making me even more excited about my upcoming trip in July. Definitely subscribing.

Girls trip?
Deluxe dining? !
28 ADRs!?!?!?!?!?

Ooh count me in! Subscribed!

Count me in too! I'm also from Wisconsin and am so excited to find someone else that packs Bloody Mary ingredients when they go to Disney! It is a must for me and my husband!! Loving your TR! Kona Cafe is on our list to try for our next trip for sure after seeing your pictures!

I'm not sure who she was more mad at, me for doing that to her, or herself for not remembering!

The Beverly!!!

Can't wait for the next update!

The Beverly!

Welcome! Your trip is getting so close!

Great TR! :thumbsup2

Thank you!

Bloody Mary's are just not the same anywhere outside of Wisconsin. Not related to Disney at all...but when I lived in New York, I took my boss to the Packer bar in Manhattan called Kettle o Fish. They were a bit unique because they were a "bring your own food" bar. So you would find people that would bring in a bucket of KFC or Chinese take out, what have you.

We ordered some Bloody Mary's, and they didn't come with any of the "stuff." So my boss sent hers back and said "Whatever you've got back there, an olive, some celery, an onion, anything, just put it in there!"

So the Bloody Mary came back with some baby carrots, cauliflower and brocolli, which the bartender had procured from some other bar patrons lunch they had brought in. :confused3 People outside of Wisconsin just don't understand...

After the Beverly incident, we made our way back to the World Showcase to continue our quest. We hit up Canada first and ordered the Torontopolitan...

This was overly sweet and not very strong (they were pre-made and on tap). We met a great couple from Long Island and they were lovely to chat with for a bit while we all had some drinks.

In Canada, Megan found a little souvenir for herself. They had a bunch of leather bracelets, and she got her name engraved in it with a little Mickey grommet.

And the finished product...

We made our way over to England where we found some Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh themed topiaries.

I had planned to include France in this post...but I have a TON of pictures from there, so it will need to be a post in and of itself.

Just starting my own trip report and subbed to yours....sounds like you all had a great time.

As we neared France, I began to pick up the pace. There was a Grand Marnier slushie in the very near future...

First, we stopped to look at the lovely topiaries from Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.

Before we left for our trip, I had committed to myself that I was actually going to take time and enjoy some of the shows that take place around the World Showcase. I never have on my previous trips, and it seemed like a good thing to do!

Just as we were rounding the corner for the home stretch to the Grand Marnier slushie, we happened to walk right into the Serveur Amusant getting ready to start their show. It was PERFECT timing and we ended up being right in front. I took so many pictures!

Overall, VERY impressive and I'm so glad we paused to enjoy it!

And as a reward...finally, the Grand Marnier slushie. For those that have not tried, it tastes just like childhood. If your childhood, like mine, tasted like Fred Flinstone orange sherbet push pops.

Sorry all, I hate to do soooo many updates on everything in one day, however, I am leaving to go back to New York in less than a month for nice vacation AND we have our next Disney trip in the works. That's right ya'll, you heard it here first! I am determined to NOT start a PTR until after my TR is complete, so I'm trying to stay focused and on task while I have the time to do so. I just can't imagine keeping a TR, Dining Report AND a PTR going all at the same time. :scared1: All I can tell you is this next trip is going to be the BEST one EVER so stay tuned!

After our time in France, we went to Japan where we got our first taste of Plum Wine. It didn't look like much, but it was sweet, strong and refreshing. I loved it!

I knew that I was going to go a little, nay, a lot crazy in Mitsukoshi, so we decided to put that off for another day.

Thankfully, we were just in time to enjoy the Taiko drummers! If you haven't seen them before, this is a MUST! The story and everything is truly amazing!
