"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

We just got back from our Disney vacation, and we did the party on Tuesday Sept 22, and I was so nervous after what happened at the first party of how ours was going to go. We had an amazing time!! Did we do EVERYTHING we wanted to...no, but we got most everything done. This was my first every party, and the only one we were going to, so a game plan was important. On Main Street, you couldn't walk 10 feet without a CM wanting to see your party band!!!!! That was great to see!!!!!!! The one thing I wanted to do and didn't get to was meeting the Seven Dwarfs. I just didn't want to stand in line for 2 hours, and they cut the line off at 11. We didn't do any characters. We only road 2 rides, but both the waits were under 10 minutes, but we had been in the park since 1, so we got all our rides done before the party. This was our game plan.

At 7 we did 4 TOT stations within 15 minutes. The lines were LONG, but they went really fast!!!!!! Don't be scared away from the long lines.
Around 7:30 we went to look for a spot on Main Street for the 8:30 parade. Had no problem finding a spot in the front sitting on the curb!! It was amazing!
After parade we did more TOT, rode the 2 rides, and then came back for the 10pm Fireworks.
After fireworks, went strait to the front of the stage for the 10:45 Hocus Pocus show. We were almost in front!! Show was great!!!
After the stage show we finished our TOT. Now it is around 11, and they were putting HUGE HAND FULLS of candy in our bags!!! Some gave 2 or 3 huge hand fulls. I am almost embarrassed to say how much candy we got!!!! We brought our own bags, so they were a lot bigger than what Disney gives you. I will not have to buy candy to hand our at home this year. LOL

I will also mention we are 4 adults, (our kids are 24 and 25 ), so idk if this could have all been possible if you have little kids. We had a great experience, we were all exhausted, but still had a great time. If I could go to another party I would do the Characters, but there just wasn't time with everything else.
Sounds like a great plan that I may want to follow. So glad you had a great time! We are so excited for ours...days are ticking down now!

We are headed to the Oct 15th party. 2 Adults, DS-6, DD2.
Plan is to get there @ 4, line up for 7D @ 5 (my DS just informed me J&S is NOT happening), Alice MG (my DD is in Alice costume), then find spot for parade ( hopefully in FL), ToT & rides (HM maybe), see fireworks from behind castle. See one of the last shows. Do-able? First party for us & so excited!

I wanted to say thank you to all those that helped answer my questions. My boyfriend and I attended Sunday's party (27 Sept). And we had a great time. A few observations:

1. If you have paper tickets you will not be given hard plastic RFID tickets - so don't bother booking fast passes between 4 and 6 pm.

2. Make sure the CM puts your wristband on correctly. Mine looked like it would fit around my thigh, it kept falling off. Walked over to the Town Hall and they fixed it for me.

3. If it rains, don't plan on seeing the headless horseman. It poured and he didn't ride. Cast member told us it is for safety of the horse and rider. Totally understand this, but was sad not to see him.

4. Candy lines were crazy up until about 10:30/11. Ride lines were walk-ons all night. Woo hoo. Character lines - I couldn't tell you. It wasn't on our agenda to meet characters.

5. Still love the party, but when it rains like it's monsoon season for an hour, stops and starts again, it puts everyone in a blah mood.

Are there any Halloween-themed autograph books for sale (even just during the party?) or are they all just the standard issue?

Thanks.

Really enjoyed your report, thanks for taking the time to put it up.

Going to our first party in a few weeks. Wondering if it's possible to find a spot for the parade, Hocus Pocus show and fireworks without having to move from one spot to another? I would love to be able to plant ourselves in one spot.

So if it looks like no rain, does it work to go to second parade in frontier land and walk with it to stage for 12:00 Hocus Pocus show? Will we be close to stage or will it already be mobbed?

I usually don't worry too much about sold-out parties because I go solo and therefore can move around a lot easier than a family can, but I am concerned enough about the crowd levels this year that I have yet to buy my tickets for mid-October. In 2012 and 2013 I did two parties each and loved every minute of every party. Couldn't get enough of the atmosphere, etc. even on sold-out Halloween nights. I know it is highly unlikely that a repeat of opening night will happen, but that risk is still hanging around in the back of my mind. It sure would help if it would quit raining on party nights so we could get a good feel for what a "normal" party will feel like this year, even a sold out party.

On a slightly different note, lots of people keep referring to Disney as promoting the parties as "exclusive" implying there will be lower crowds, but I don't think Disney has actively promoted that for past few years if ever. I think that misconception is a hold over from Disboarders and other repeat visitors experiencing that in previous years. It is not a deliberate attempt to mislead anyone, but simply is something that is no longer true. I feel like when we buy a party ticket, we are paying for the special atmosphere, activities like ToT, special Meet and Greets, and entertainment. Not necessarily for low crowds. Those have just been a bonus in the past. The event is exclusive in that only people who have purchased tickets are "supposed" to be able to enjoy those special things. I think that is why opening night was such a horrible mess. Disney most certainly screwed up that night by not enforcing the rules, but I really don't think they have intentionally misled anyone. Disney as a whole is so much more popular now. I guess it is a sign that in some ways the economy is getting better because we can all afford to go (maybe the discounts really do help!), but the result is higher crowds whether it is a special party or regular day.

I just wanted to get this off my chest because it just makes me a bit sad that so many posters feel like Disney is intentionally misleading them.

Thanks for listening. :mic:

Loved this post. I think from what I have heard , WDW has fixed the problems they had with opening night. However, I have also heard that they are selling a lot more of these "exclusive tickets" this year than ever before. The trick is to have a plan before you go, but don't be afraid to alter it on the fly if needed.

I am hoping that a lot of people have decided to not attend the MNSSHP on OCT 8, because of the reported crowds and long lines. Please get the word out to as many people as possible that it will be overcrowded that day, so don't bother going to the party.

As the late great Yogi Berra once said, "nobody goes there anymore, because its too crowded"

FYI the midnight Hocus Pocus seems to be a much shorter "cliff notes" version of the earlier shows.

I may have to rearrange my plans to see another Hocus Pocus show, but right now the midnight one fits best. So I need to decide whether a full Hocus Pocus show or other things on my plan are more important. So hard to pick priorities.

Me and my girl are going to the Oct 18th and 22nd parties. To anybody who knows, is there a good chance of the weather being a lot better?

We're going oon 10/20 and 10/22!!!!

Trying not to stress! My DD5 wants to meet Jack and Sally, but her twin brother does not. He wants to go on rides, so that may work out. We all want to see the parade but other than that we are just going to soak up the Halloween spirit all around us!

2 sets of costumes for the kids, one set for us and we're ready to go! Can't wait!

It sounds like Jack and Sally are coming out early pretty consistently so that would help! The Dwarfs are so cute, but Jack and Sally are much more fun to interact with.

I surely hope they continue to meet early. If so I could see both sets. If not I can see the 7D at the Christmas party. The only down fall is being in line earlier. My DD wants to see tinkerbell and ride Peter Pan. I'll need to see about redoing my FP+

So is the 2nd parade ANY less crowded? Still can't figure out how to get to see parade, fireworks, HP show and still get the benefit of ToT later in the evening. It's driving me (and as a result, DH) bonkers. Going Tuesday 10/6

If your ToT bag is full will the CM give you another bag? I've heard from some they have filled their bag very quickly. Thanks!
