CONFIRMED! Splash Mountain REFURB: August 28 - November 16, 2017

In the end it is what it is, I can't ride it...I will just have to do my best to recreate it. If anyone is staying at the same time I am and is willing to throw a bucket of water over me whilst I slide down a hill on a skateboard towards a hedge, singing zip-a-dee-doo-da it would be most helpful!

I'm guessing that there are thousands of CMS at WDW that would gladly pay money in order to throw cold water on unsuspecting guests. You may be on to something, sign me up.

Sent a mail to Guest Services to know if Splash Mountain will be closed during September, they weren't able to answer me, of course :

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort. As of the moment we do not have the refurbishment schedule for September. I would suggest checking back in a few more months but we normally do refurbishment on water rides during the colder months.

What did I expect ? :teeth:

Well that response certainly gives me a little hope!

I wouldn't hold on to a noncommittal type of response or let it get my hopes up. Disney also said that they had no plans to change anything when they purchased the Carousel Inn across the street from Disneyland in Ca- well, well, well a year later there were plans submitted to the city to tear it down as part of huge multi-year construction project to completely change the entrance and build a massive walking bridge in the spot where the hotel used to be.

Disney lies-or keeps their plans to themselves if you prefer.

I hope the schedule will be firm and out at least by the time I have to make FP booking 60 days out. Arriving on August 26, I have to decide whether or not to hit MK on August 27. Original plan is to have August 27 an AK day. Oh well ... It's just hard to plan with all the uncertainties. Still waiting for MNSSHP dates ... and then this ...:confused3

I agree. That's one thing that I find difficult. If you want certain restaurants or Fastpasses, you need to book at 180/60 days out. But you don't have all the information that you need to know when you want to be in which park.

When we rode Splash in February, lots of the animal-tronics were missing. You could see where they were supposed to be, but it appeared that they had been taken up for refurb. I'm guessing people who don't ride it as often as I do may not have even noticed, but we sure did. It was a disappoinment. Maybe they were just getting a head start on the official refurbishment.

Unfortunately schedules can change even days before things happen.

Do you know what was missing? Usually they just leave them and turn them off.

Any new info on this? We are arriving on the 26th and hope we can still have one ride.
