Pop Century Room Renovations

This is a great idea if your driving but if you fly in then bringing a pool noodle presents a problem since it would be a pain to try to pack and it would take up too much suitcase space.

Last time I was in there they were actually selling noodles in gift shop. Thought it was weird but that may be an option.

But you could just cut up in lengths to fit in suitcase, share them among cases and then you have space for anything you buy coming back.

Why not put the kids in the permanent bed and keep the Murphy for the adults who want the table?
We would do that but it still does not help me because I usually get on my PC to check work stuff and go over our plans for the next day FP's etc. when my DW is in bed relaxing. I also normally leave my laptop on the table so all I have to do is sign in. Also, I like to let my DW stay in bed a little longer in the morning while I either go get breakfast or if we are just doing cereal or bagels and get the table ready for everyone. It helps speed us getting out of the room faster:) It may not be an issue for a lot of folks but for us, it definitely is a big inconvenience.

I just booked a bounce back offer for 12/2018 at Pop. I know it's a while away but I'm excited about this trip because it will be a trip with just my husband any myself. I just wanted to clarify something with the bed situation. Are both beds queen's and is there still an option to request a king room?

I think a lot of the younger kids will beg for the murphy bed anyway because of the Pluto picture.

We fly.

I wouldn't bring an entire noodle. Just a foot or so per corner. I don't think an entire pool noodle would be necessary to pad the two corners.

You'll want to bring enough to pad 4 corners, 2 for each bed. Unless you have a King room or don't plan on putting the Murphy Bed down.

I don't know if you can request a king room, but I can tell you for a fact that both beds in the refurbished rooms are queens. Also, be careful of the corners of the bed on the murphy, it's easy to smack your legs on the wooden frame edges (verified by me and my husband).

Thank you. I'll kee that in mind

Only 5 more work days to go until we check into Pop! So excited :yay:

A couple of questions for you all. Last year I received an email from the "back office" of Pop Century asking me if I had any questions, concerns, or requests prior to my arrival. I have not seen other DISers mention getting this kind of communication and was wondering if it is random? I think I received the email about a week prior to my arrival last year. I was hoping I might get the same email again this year. Has anyone else recently received this "back office" email?

I have a fax ready to go with my request for a renovated room. I also have it noted on my reservation but want to cover all of my bases. I've read that anywhere between 3-5 days prior to arrival is good. We arrive on Saturday, 9/2. When is the best day to send my fax or does it even really matter?

Thanks so much!!!!

Okay, so you could keep the laptop on the beverage center and stand to use it; keep it on the end of the long dresser and use it sitting sideways or leaning over; keep it on a nightstand and use it on your lap in bed: stay in a resort that provides permanent tables...

I'd love to stay in an old room one more time. What buildings are completely renovated as of today? What building are they working on now? Thanks!

8 & 9 remodeled and open, 7 apparently close to being open (all in 80s-90s). Construction started on 10 (70s). Safest place to request to get an old room should be 50s.

I feel like someone asks this every day now but-has 7 opened yet?

Haven't heard of it opening yet. Someone last week reported still seeing a lot of construction workers. I'm trusting when it does open we will hear multiple reports here.

Just request Fifties. Those will likely be the last to be touched.

Anyone checked in in the last few days and asked about the gift card promo for mousekeeping? I know it ended a few days ago but I'm kinda hoping it was a success and they bring it back!

Rounded yes. But stick out a couple inches farther than the mattress. All 4 people in our neighbors party have bruised shins from it.

Wow, I did not realize the regular bed had the same issue, my neighbors only mentioned the pull down bed.

If you look at post 1033 (p. 52) of this thread you can see pictures that show how the frame of the regular bed extends a few inches beyond the mattress. I'm thinking more people will probably walk into the murphy bed corners because it intrudes into the walking path more than the regular bed -- but they're both going to cause lots of bruised shins.

We just checked out yesterday and did not get offered the gift card promo. We didn't specifically ask for it though.
