Hurricane Irma?

For the record, when I took the photos, Disney's update channel 3 stated we were permitted out of our rooms, just to be careful when walking around.

I am not bothered enough about it to post about it anywhere other than here. The CM was nice and I actually do understand the rationale behind asking, however, it made me feel as though I had done something wrong or insensitive which I didn't like...that's my main gripe. In light of everything else, this is clearly very small potatos.

Thank you to everyone for responding. I feel better!

Agree thoroughly with this not being a big enough deal to take it to another level. :)

Is "within their resort hotel" meant to be the grounds of the resort here, then? This was posted at 1:04pm today.

WDW has its own power grid. Hotels here are not running on generators, the power did not go out. Lots of locals here niw, staying at WDW for that very reason.

While it's all horribly complicated, the simple test is as follows: look up and see if the lights are on. If so, things are pretty good and I wouldn't worry too much.

arriving wednesday and the reason I was wondering about the power is for credit card charges and charging to the room. does anyone know if this is/will be possible? or do we need to bring tons of cash? we were planing on connecting our disney visa to the room and charging most everything to the room. thanks!

I can't believe my 17 year old daughter is acting like a 5 year old because I won't drive her the 5 miles to her friends house. I've already told her I don't want her to get stuck there.
Teenage daughters sure can be frustrating.

I'm in Georgia about 45 minutes from the airport. Our garbage services cancelled for today and tomorrow which I expected. And Gwinnett County Schools finally announced they are closed tomorrow too.

Power keeps flickering for us. I keep hearing sirens coming from the main road about 1/2 a mile from us.
I'm going to get off the computer and get repacked for my trip. No point in bringing extra stuff I don't need since the trip has gone from 6 days to maybe 4 if I'm lucky.

Stay safe!

Well, if you really want to go there...

According to the timestamp of the "offended persons" post, curfew to stay in your room was still in play.

In any event, this is just silly. The state just went through a hurricane...lets whine about some photos, shall we? (If it's even true!)

This is not accurate. We were permitted to leave our rooms. In fact, resort dining opened up as of 1pm.

I didn't think I was whining...wow. Harsh.

I can't believe we've spent this many posts talking about one bad cast member. Today this one cast member seems to be getting more attention then the dozens and dozens of other ones who have been doing an AMAZING job. Way to focus on the positive.

personally, I think everyone else is making way too much out of this picture deal, the OP was just making a statement, that's all, chill everyone, be grateful Disney has employees even willing to come to work, just because they are capable of reopening doesn't mean the area where any of their employees live fared as well.

For people planning on driving down. We flew into Virginia last year from the UK just after the hurricane and were planning on driving from Virginia down to Florida. The roads on the I95 we're really badly damaged. There were huge holes massive parts of the road were closed off and we had to take back ways. For a good hour and a half of the trip we honestly thought we'd have to turn around because we just couldn't get through. Thankfully we doubled back and managed to find an obscure way around. So just be careful with driving and check if you can the roads you'll be using because there's nothing like being nine hours into a thirteen hour drive and realising you'll probably have to turn around. .

We're due to fly into Florida this time thankfully because I cannot handle that stress again with the roads. Also it's not much fun being on a 9+ hour flight and then having the drive for 13+ hours.

Are food supplies etc likely to be ok by next week? Will Walmarts etc have food or do supplies take weeks to come back? We're from the UK so used to really bad storms as the norm but the last hurricane was the year I was born and I'm 30 this year so I have nothing to compare it to really.

Does anyone know what will happen if you arrive two and a half days late for check-in?

We reserved a stay from 09/11-25, yet after multiple rebookings we now are scheduled to arrive at MCO (from AMS via FRA and AID) on the 14th at 12.30 AM. Disney currently only accepts calls regarding urgent issues and I don't feel my problem is serious enough to 'stay on the line'.

If you were supposed to arrive today, I would stay on the line and inform them of your itinerary change.

Otherwise you risk having the whole reservation cancelled for being a no-show today, I would imagine

You must be somewhere near me. I'm also in Gwinnett, about 45 minutes from the airport if there is no traffic. Our lights have been flickering since about 9:30 this morning, but it is definitely getting more frequent now. Channel 2 says to expect the worst of this to be between 4 and 6 pm.
Sorry your daughter is giving you a hard time! When my kids were growing up, "teen" was a 4 letter word!

Hey if you can't scare people anymore about the storm might as well start complaining about cast members.

Couldn't agree more.

CM have been great here at OKW. Just been informed that the main pool is open and ready for use.
