DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

How is it that Martha gets credit when I mentioned it??
Yes you did mention it first. But DW found a video on her website that suggested roasting upside down on top of buttered bread (a loaf) so the breast skin is not damaged. I have nothing to compare it to but seemed to work nicely.

Found a place to play tennis today - maybe. Everything seems to be back to normal here, except for the herd of elephants upstairs.

Have a great week gents and you too Norm, enjoy the beach vaca.

Glad you got in and all worked out safely - enjoy

So far so good. The waves look back to normal this AM, so hopefully, the ocean is over. Saw the police or beach patrol wave people out of the ocean past couple days. I didn't see anyone arrested.

Happy thanksgiving to my fellow Canadian DISDads.

You may remember DW and I cooked turkey yesterday for the first time ever (wife's sister was only able to visit for dinner on Sunday). Anyway we tried the upside down roasting that Martha Stewart recommended and it seemed to work, it was really good turkey, juicy and tasty.

So FYI tying the legs together makes the insides juicy and flipping upside down seems to help, but that manoeuvre can be a little tricky.

Glad it worked out well for you. Now, what do to with the leftovers? Turkey pot pie?

Glad it came out good. How is it that Martha gets credit when I mentioned it?? :sad2: :lmao:

I use the oven mitts, pick the turkey up with my hands basically upside down and then flip it over. Again, if you wait too long, then the turkey is already too tender and will try to fall apart on you...did that ONCE and learned my lesson.

Hope all the rest of my Northern neighbors had a great day.

Martha gets credit because she is infamous, kinda of like El Guapo.

soooo.... full....

:faint:

::yes::

'Morning all...

So...
What'd I miss?
Well, apart from Canadian Thanksgiving that is.
And I do hope all y'all up that way had a fine holiday filled with entirely too much good food and limited amounts of knock-down drag-out family arguments, strife and battles (or is that second bit of it unique to the US version of the observance?)

she is infamous, kinda of like El Guapo.
So, would you say that she gets a plethora of credit?

G'day dads! Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new to the DisBoards. Liam from Australia here :drinking1
Welcome Sir!
Pleased to see a representative from the other hemisphere.decide to join in.
Always good to hear different perspectives.

Our Chief Bacon Officer will be around in a bit with the official welcome and "honors", snd Norm will explain the dues structure, presently. Meanwhile, pull up a lawn chair, grab a few brews out of the fridge and join in the conversation.

Morning, folks.
Back to work. Full belly or no.

:welcome: to the club!

Pretty sure the battles part isn't limited to south of the 49th, but... we didn't have any so I can't say for sure.

Well, I'm definitely full of it, but....

turkey
stuffing
gravy
mashed potatoes
dinner roll (with butter... I'm not a barbarian after all)
a very few stalks of asparagus (but I skipped the salad)
pickles
perogies
more turkey
more stuffing
more mashed potatoes
more gravy
apple pie
ice cream

So FYI tying the legs together makes the insides juicy and flipping upside down seems to help, but that manoeuvre can be a little tricky.
Now then, lets have a bit of decorum. Apart from that, I'm very impressed you could do all that after dinner. :rotfl:

 Not gonna go anywhere near that one!

I'm pretty sure the guy who joined the same day as me was an Aussie. TBH I can't be ars$d to check. Lets pretend Morana is. Hey mate! You're the first Australian DisDad!
I seem to recall one of the other guys being from Australia also, but then again, that could've been a different thread/board.
