Cdn tickets "check in"

We just came back from our first trip to WDW, and when we checked in at POFQ, the front desk CM told us we didn't need to go to Guest Services and show our passports as our tickets were already activated on our magic bands.

I brought them with me when we went to HS right after, just in case she was incorrect or there were any complications, but sure enough, the light flashed green when we tapped our magic bands against the turnstile and we were let in the parks!

I'm not sure if ours was one of those exceptions or if they changed their process, but it was a nice surprise and I was happy to not have to spend time at Guest Relations and instead go straight to the park!

Hopefully new process. We have Canadian tickets for May and I don't want to waste time at GR while the rest of my family from the u.s. gets to go in.

I'm definitely going to be following this thread for updates. We went last year and had to spend quite a bit of time at GS in order to get our tickets validated so if they have changed the process, that would be great news!!

Oh that's great news! We're headed to POFQ in a couple of weeks so I will find out then. :)

That is good news. We activated our cards last Dec 15'th and we all had to show our passports and the CC that was used for the purchase. It took about 40 minutes at MK

We had to go to GS in Dec to activate them. We did it at Disney Springs which didn't take too long. When we went last March, we did it at MK and it took forever. This would be nice if we don't have to do it any more. Still have a set of tickets and thinking of buying another since they are discounted again.

Be there end of the month. Now we bought the Can tickets from Disney for this trip, that might be the difference since they know we are |Canadian. I have a number of other AM Can tickets that do not expire, so they might be different.
Will let you know what happens.

That's great news, hopefully that's the new policy! It sure would be nice to be able to skip that step and just go straight to the turnstiles!

Where in Disney Springs did you go to activate your tickets?

My tickets are linked to my MDE.

You can activate them at guest services which is basically located right in the middle of Disney Springs.

Hopefully a new process! We leave in 13 days and we fly in at 8pm, so probably won't have time/energy to go to DS that night to activate, and don't want to waste time the next morning!

I know most of the posts have been about WDW but I wanted to give our experience with our CDN resident tickets at Disneyland this past Christmas, in case anyone is headed to DL...I had our tickets in hand, along with our passports, when we entered Disneyland for the first time...the CM never even asked to see our passports even though her screen showed "CDN Resident ticket - check passport", she did take our pictures and told us to have a great day.

That's interesting! We went to DL in August and the CM at the turnstiles wanted to see everyone's passports. We only needed them that first day though.

I wonder if she saw them in my hand and since I was with my Mom who uses a walker and had to go through the wheelchair gate and maybe she just forgot after taking our pictures....I was surprised...I know later in our stay one of the CM at the gate asked where in Canada we were from and I told her...after my Mom said "how did she know we were from Canada"...I had to explain that it showed on her screen when we scanned our tickets....we are heading to Disneyland again this Christmas and I already have 1 of our DL CDN resident tickets...

Could be she forgot! We're headed back late November this year for a Christmas trip as well, thanks to those Can resident tickets.

This is great to know we won't need to have our Passports with us each day to get in and only for the first day!! The 25% certainly takes away the sting of the currency conversion - at least for the tickets.

Planning on having our Nexus cards and a copy of our passports for our first day at DLR in April. Hopefully that will be enough (worst case scenario, we are staying across the street at BWPPI if we need to go and get our original passports).

This is only the first day, correct? After that you just go in whichever park you are heading to right?

Yes only on the first day, and only at the first park we went to. We hopped to DCA later that day and didn’t need ID.

I called to ask and the lady said because I booked a package over the phone with room and Canadian tickets I don't need to activate them before I can use them but if I bought the tickets by themselves then I would need to have my passport and activate them before I could use them. I hope that helps.
