Its how your raise rates without raising rates. For those that fly in, its a non issue. But those same people don't use the parking lots either. So this way they are passing the buck (so to speak) to those that use it and they will now help to repave the lots, the streets and the other services they use.

This will soon spill over to the off-site locations too. Swan Dolphin has done it for years, same as the resort fees just like most other resort locations.

Remember Disney isn't a charity. Remember those people saying Disney should pay a "living wage" well this is one of the ways they can do it. With crowds like they have, they can afford to do it too, people will still come and still pay. They will only stop when people stop going, which isn't going to happen any time soon.

But for those that fly in your room rate already has the cost for ME built into it. If you drive in not only are you paying for something you are using but Disney gets you on parking fees so then win in both areas.

Day Guests
Complimentary standard self-parking is available while enjoying select dining, shopping, entertainment, and recreation experiences at Disney Resort hotels.

Do "recreational experiences" include pool hopping or taking the monorail to MK? Kidding aside...the wording does leave it open for some type of parking validation system, or at least maybe tighter restrictions on day parking, but who knows...

I really can't see how they cannot do some kind of validation with minimum purchase or likewise. If not, the hotel lots will immediately fill up with theme park visitors. In addition, who's to say I'm a resort guest and just tell them on my way in that I'm not and just here to look around and shop. Is Disney going to start roving guards and towing people who park overnight without the dashboard passes? Can you imagine the confrontations in the lobby!? "Sir, yes we did tow your car, you did not display the proper overnight parking pass. We're sorry you and your family will miss your flight home, here's some free FastPasses to make up for it."

I haven't posted since our trip last summer, but I think they may have finally found the straw to break my proverbial back.

I was trying hard to find a way to go back next summer, but I'm pretty sure they just killed that notion.

There's no value added in this move. There's not even an attempt to show value added in this move.

So has it been confirmed that the fee is only charged to those who actually have a car in the lot? Meaning if we don't have a car we don't get charged the parking fee?

overnight charge is per car, per night

If you have no car, you wont be charged.
If you have two cars, there will be two charges.
If you have a car for only part of your stay, only the nights you park will be charged

Some of us won't just complain and take it.

I am going to Orlando in October to attend MNSSHP and Universal. Last year I did this I stayed at an All Star. I didn't have WDW park tickets besides MNSSHP but I liked being on Disney property and visited other resorts. I won't be doing that this year.

I'll just stay at a Universal hotel. Yeah, I have to pay for parking there as well, but the hotels are of a higher quality. Proof in hand: I'm thinking of the bed at All Stars versus the bed at Cabana Bay. No contest.

Not to offend Disabled guest as my dad was one before he passed but why is it waived for them when they still have to pay at the theme park and its not waived they just get to park closer as they should be able too.

Interesting takes.

It seems to me that this is very much in line with WDW's attempt to push returning guests toward DVC. They haven't opened a deluxe resort since AKL, but they're adding more DVC capacity almost annually, even at the cost of removing resort hotel capacity (at WL and CBR). Now they'll be able to market parking as one more way that you can save by buying DVC vs. staying in a regular resort hotel.

A lot of us DVC members have felt Disney is catering more to the “once in a lifetime” or big spenders the past few years with more hard ticketed events, less EMH etc. That same crowd won’t really notice a few hundred dollars for parking. Those of us that travel to Disney often will notice but Disney figures we’ll either pay up, or leave and somehow a “once in a lifetime” guest will make up the difference.

Can I stay at Pop but leave my car overnight at Art of Animation thus park for free? Just tell the guard at AoA that I'm checking out the restaurant or something. I'm not asking about the ethics/morals of doing this (of course it's wrong), but who's to know if they do not use some kind of window sticker and then patrol at night.

It seems obvious to me the next increase this year will be for ME...to get everyone who shows up to pay a rate increase...

Something like "enjoy a magical ride for your whole family from the airport to your resort for only $29/stay"...

See that's why this frustrates me...you wanna charge me parking to stay at the Values, which are essentially Motel 6 quality? I could stay at Cabana Bay, which is way better quality, for around the same amount. I agree, no contest.

It's definitely worded as parking and for bringing a car, etc. .... I think if they wanted to charge everyone they would have done the whole "resort fee" rather than a parking fee

Plus I think the idea is to reward you for not bringing a car so they don't want to charge people who don't have a car

I might be wrong but I think for international guests, this will kill them potentially renting a car. A lot less people do it now anyway compared to years ago but charging for parking now will pretty much kill that.

That will keep more in the Disney bubble (penalise those who want to venture out) unless you use an uber

right, but at Cabana Bay you don't get 60 days to book FP for the new Star Wars attractions that if you don't have a FP for you will be waiting 18 hours to ride

Bingo! Exactly why they are doing this (plus the extra $ for those that do bring a car)

If I’m a guest I get free parking at the theme park. I’ll just keep the car there.

Not gonna let them nickel and dime me

I mean geez it’s even cheaper if I parked at the park then at the hotel If I wasn’t a guest
