I love credit cards so much!

I think I’d start by calling chase and seeing if they can book exactly what you want at the same price as the dis site.
If so great.
If not, book through Disney and then transfer it over.
I haven’t tried yet, but others have transferred in under 30 days. Not sure how long it takes...seems I remember reading it took about a week. Can’t remember who it was that posted their story.

ETA: Disney has a ticketless package...unless that changed. So you should be able to book that through them for sure if chase can’t do it. Then transfer.

Thanks for now I booked them as room only on Disney's site, just to have them, since the discount booking period ends May 22. I'll call chase tonight to see if they can book what I need. If not, then I'll ask them to transfer over what I have and hopefully be able to add dining to 1 of them.

My only concern about booking the ticketless package with Disney straight away was that I'd have to pay in full before I could get it transferred to chase, defeating the purpose as I'd have no balance to pay using UR.

On a related note, is there any point in transferring a ressie to chase (or starting from scratch with them) if I plan to pay with gift cards? I wouldn't still get the 1.5 value if not paying with UR, right? Reason I ask is if I can do the one ressie with dining plan, that will all but wipe out my UR and second ressie would be gift card payment.

Last night I was playing around on the Southwest site, and it turns out I could get round trip tickets to SNA for 10k points.... and I got pretty excited about a weekend for Pixar Fest. And then I remembered that date is too early for Pixar Pier to be open. Which leaves the question: Why the heck did they start Pixar Fest in April if Pixar Pier isn't opening until the end of June? :sad2:

I don't understand that either. I had to make sure our dates fell when everything was open too.

SO...not been on for days...and no energy to catch up! Please, do tell, if anything terribly exciting happened! I want to know!! Missed you all!

Got my 'first born' graduated. She also turned 18yo this past week, so lots of biggies. Graduating her was so surreal. Not just as a mom but as a homeschool mom. I began the homeschool thing with her in K and it was to be for ONE YEAR. One year and then we would figure out what we were going to do for school because, no way, no how, was I homeschooling all the way through. But one year turned into two and three and so on. It's been the best decision our family has ever made and I wouldn't change it for anything. It's the road less traveled but the one that has made all the difference for us. I don't think it's for everyone. It's hard, and not to say that other moms couldn't do it, but I really believe if you are meant to do it, you kind of know it inside. You feel 'called', and if you feel that, then you and your children will thrive. Otherwise, the struggle is real. So, I'd never push it on people cause I just don't think it is for all.

I thought I'd share a couple of pics. And then I remembered that I can never figure out how. I miss photobucket when it was free. So, if I figure it out, I may throw some up.

I've still got family in town the next few days but the big stuff is done!! So glad. It's been a lot planning all this. I know all you parents who've already graduated kids can relate. WOW, I had no idea before!! Now, I get it. I totally get it!!

Congrats!! I am definitely one who could not have homeschooled. Did you have your party already? Ours is this Sunday. How did the taco bar go? That is what I am planning as of now, but we went to 2 parties already with taco bars and my DD has been to at least 10 parties so far and said most of them had them. I guess everyone thinking the same easy thing. But I hate to do what everyone else is doing! How much meat did you buy?

Good luck! I have my fingers crossed for you!

I think if “too many recent inquiries,” “too many accounts have been opened recently,” “too many accounts open,” “too much available credit,” or “not enough time has passed since your last account with us was opened” are issues, you’ll just be denied as all are common reasons for denial. If you’re approved, great! In either case, you’ll probably want to lay off Chase for the next 4-6 months, the longer the better.

Denials are far more common; shutdowns are kind of an extreme remedy for extreme behavior. The newest shutdown @SouthFayetteFan cited has a guy who did the Sapphire double dip in January, got approved for the CIP in February, then went for the CIC two months later, denied, didn’t heed the warning signs, and applied for another Chase card the following month.

The 100k offer on the Marriott is tempting, but I feel like 100k is an offer that comes and goes on the Marriott product periodically.

Yeah, that guy was crazy. I clicked over to Reddit to read the whole thing and I laugh that's he's surprised.
The original plan had been an Ink card first, then do the double dip in a couple months and then the Marriott card much later in the year. But timelines changed with my home projects and the double dip made more sense first and then just risk it with the Ink. So the modified plan was Ink in June-ish because that's when the bills are due except one had an earlier due date than I expected (6/3) so I really risked it since I knew I'd need time for the approval (positive thinking!) and then getting the card in order to pay that one.
I was more joking with @SouthFayetteFan 's list :) I'm not expecting a shutdown, but a denial is possible. I was reading his list and just mentally laughing so I had to share :)
Side note: the CIC is still showing $500 bonus and the CIU isn't on the page yet. Maybe doing a soft open in-branch first.

My dh was denied for the CIC. Got the letter in the hubbub of grad stuff so I've not been able to get on and chat with y'all about it. He was denied for 1) too new of business (2 years) 2) not enough business revenue ($500) and 3) too much available credit (i lowered limits only a couple of days before applying so definitely not enough time).

According to the letter, his credit score was 833. Yet they deny :confused3

I'm wondering if this means he should lay off chase. He is 3/24 (will be 2/24 next month) and last Chase card was CIP in 10/17 (before that was CSR 3/17) so it isn't like he's been hitting them hard at all. But I obviously want to behave and avoid any shutdown.

And this isn't giving me any hope. I put 1 year in business because it's not quite yet been 2 years since I started selling on a regular basis, and listed my revenue as $650, and I had only lowered the last limit which was the big one a couple days before. I'll probably call the status line again today. Hopefully they do it quick and not keep me hanging for a few days before dropping the ax!

Back from our quick trip to Disney - looks like everyone here has been busy.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn Marriott Village for 2 nights (it was less than $70 a night, so I just paid out of pocket) which was fine (we really were not in the room much at all). Our last night was at the Swan - great dinner at Bluezoo and spent our last day there at the pool instead of hitting another park. The room rate there was pretty reasonable (lik3 $270, including tax etc), but I blew some SPG points on it anyway, to keep the overall cost of the trip down. I kept forgetting to use my AP discount at restaurants! At least twice - so dumb. I did use my AAA card for 20% of the breakfast at Garden Grove at the Swan - Pluto and Goofy were in attendance, and Goofy was super sweet with my little one.

I'm trying to step away from the new credit cards, but you guys are a terrible influence. I haven't had the time to think through our next move(s), and want to develop our "plan" before I randomly pull the trigger on whatever is next. I also need to do some vacation planning for 2019 so I know what I should be focused on. But all the approval stuff (and not having a MSR to work on) is making me antsy!

You mean you haven't been calling every hour?

Got an email from Amex to join the Staples Plus membership for only $9 (regularly $49). But it doesn't really give a good description why I should, other than you can save money. Does anyone belong to it?

I only shop at Staples when I get a CC offer for it and mostly it's been gift cards. But if it's useful $9 seems like a good price to pay. The promo code is a long string of numbers and is one time use so it looks like a targeted offer. I got it from my Everyday card but it says any AmEx card can be used to pay for the membership, just need to use the promo code and an AmEx card to get the deal.

DS frequently asked me to homeschool him when he was in elementary school but given all of the extra gray hairs I gained just from trying to get him to do his homework that was not happening. I am curious how you handled teaching subjects when they got to the higher levels. Even though I have taken higher level math courses that is almost 30 days ago and I even find with some of the geometry and stats and probability that is the 7th grade math book that we have him working on that I have to look up the topics since I don't remember those formulas.

SO’s job got him Southwest A list for three months. He can get it for an additional 12 months if he does the following.

You can continue to enjoy A-List status for an additional 12 months by booking and flying three roundtrip flights (or six one-way flights) or earning 8,000 Tier Qualifying Points between now and May 30, 2018. Be sure to book your travel through your corporate booking tool within the promotional time period and include your Rapid Rewards account number in the reservation.

Any ideas on how I can earn Tier qualifying points without flying?

Yes @wendow use imgur. Medium or large thumbnails and just copy bb code.

And @Lain you can’t remember everyone’s cards and their trips too! That’s too much.

We are in WDW and did DVC tour Monday. If we bought the whole contract direct and not resale Disney will take multiple cards for different amounts over a period of a couple months. Not going to lie it is a little tempting for that! My husband joked that he was surprised I didn’t just get out my wallet and start slapping down cards right then and there. :)

We paid for our DVC contract 100% on a credit card. I really loved that aspect. :D

Wow, not asking much, just fly 3 times in 9 days, no biggie :)

Tier points are hard, it's basically points from flying. But if you have the Premier SW card you can get some from spend. From SW site:
"Tier qualifying points are earned from revenue flights booked through Southwest Airlines® or through the use of the Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Cards (1,500 tier qualifying points for every $10,000 in eligible net purchases on that card, up to 15,000 tier qualifying points per year)."

May be actually cheaper to find 3 rt's. Are they still doing the $49 fare sale?

Thanks. In fairness they gave him three months, but since every other place gave him status for a year I assumed he would have it for a full year.

Do you know if I need to take the flight or can I just buy it?

I don't know for sure, but I think you have to actually fly it. I know No Show's forfeit the travel funds but I don't think that'd be the same for getting the rewards points. Of course, SW seems to be mum on the subject (go figure) might have to search FlyerTalk for data points.

We paid with our card and loved that option. If only I had been on this thread back then and been meeting minimum spends with the payments! We did earn enough UR to pay for our flights for our next trip, which was quite nice.

I need to vent to people who will understand. I applied for CIP on Thursday and it is still saying 30 days. I have been hesitant on the business cards and I’m now 2nd guessing everything. I’m off to work now so I won’t be able to check till late tonight.... again.

I would not transfer it if you are not using UR's. If you transfer it and just pay with gift cards you have to read each card to Chase as they have to apply the payments, you won't be able to do it yourself.
