T-Shirt to vulgar for disney?

No, they are not going to go after a family trip t-shirt with Disney logos or characters on them. It's always going to be a judgement call. What might be okay with one CM may not fly right with another. Hence the vague wording on their website. I get the idea of the OP's shirt but don't feel it's as "innocent" as you do nor do I find it to be satirical. A "dead Pooh" is not funny. A "dead Pooh/DeadPool" reference is not even clever wordplay. This isn't a First Amendment issue. It's just a t-shirt that Disney staff may not feel is appropriate in their parks. And FWIW, I've seen plenty of attire that makes me cringe. None of it has to do with the message on the shirt. As I stated in a PP, I probably wouldn't blink twice if I saw this shirt in the parks but my sensibilities have been dulled from raising three teenagers.

But Pooh is not dead! It does not say Pooh is dead. It does not SUGGEST Pooh is dead. It does not SHOW Pooh dead - he is very much alive right there! It is just Pooh dressed up as Deadpool. That is all it is. Pooh in a Deadpool costume. Deadpooh = Deadpool + Pooh. Combining two DISNEY OWNED/LICENSED characters. No different than Pooh dressed up as Darth Vadar - Darth Pooh. I have actually seen that one on a kid. It wasn't that funny, but whatever. I do not think it was made by Disney either.

I just do not believe any CM is going to look at that and say Nope, you can't kill Pooh or threaten Pooh. POOH IS NOT DEAD. :rotfl2:

It does say Dead Pooh. And as this thread has shown, not everyone is familiar with the movie. All it takes is one CM to say it is offensive. Even so, they won't ban anyone from the park over it. They will have the wearer turn the shirt inside out or buy a new one.

No it does not say Dead Pooh. It says Deadpooh. A name, not a situation. ;-) When you add that space that makes it a whoooole different thing!

Again, not everyone knows the reference and will not read it as a name. Not to mention, the words are different colors, making them look like 2 separate words, not one name.

I’m sorry, but I find it extremely hard to believe that someone going to a Disney theme park could have never heard of Deadpool before. It has a sequel already, the character has been around for 2 years. It’s crazy popular. The first movie made more than X-Men at the box office. Deadpool 1 and 2 hold the record for the top opening ticket sales of rated R movies ever. It has been all over TV, commercials, the news, social media for weeks. Unless you live in a cabin in the woods and don’t have a Tv or internet I don’t see how anyone could have no clue that Deadpool is a fictional character that wears a red suit - at minimum.

Really? You don't think that some parents keep their kids away from R rated characters? Or stay away from stuff like that themselves?

I find it super easy to believe. But then I'm a Disney fan who can't tell you a single thing about Avatar. Never saw it, never cared to. Didn't even go into that section of the park last time I was in the Animal Kingdom. Certainly couldn't tell you who the lead character is.

Except they lack the word Dead. Which is what I think may raise the most eyebrows.

I don't think it is that big of a deal. Have hubby wear the shirt, but also have him prepared to buy a new one on the off chance he is told it is inappropriate.
So they are going to censor it because it has a reference to one of their own characters’ names?

I’ve never heard of Deadpool before.

That being said, my husband and kids have heard of it, but haven’t seen the movie.
My husband doesn’t think the tshirt is appropriate, but my kids think it’s fine.

No less inappropriate than some of the language that spews forth from some of the potty-mouth guests. Was just there for a week, and couldn't believe some of the profanity coming out of some of the park-goers.

That disturbs me far more than this shirt ever would. I hate it when we get stuck in line behind someone who can't control their mouth at a family theme park. Extra points for having a beer in hand while they do it.

My husband is a HUGE deadpool fan and we are going to disney in a few weeks and he saw this shirt and loved it but I was worried it would be flagged as a "no go" and be asked to changed inside disney. Kids might jsut read Dead pooh and think hes dead.. and not really understand :/ what do you guys think? and I over thinking it?

There is no way you'll have any problem wearing that shirt on property.

Raising my hand.
Just learned about "Deadpool 2" today when the man wanted to take DGD to the movies:lmao:.

Ah well if they can't control their mouths at home it's just a lost cause to expect they can anywhere in public, beer not withstanding.

I thought it reminded me of another shirt! -

Anyway - I only vaguely know what Deadpool is because DH and DS saw it, but I have at least heard of it.

I'm shocked you find it extremely hard to believe. I could name many, many people I know who I strongly suspect would have no idea what Deadpool is.
