I love credit cards so much!

I know you need to call the Chase travel line if you want to book a Disney package, but I used to be able to at least see Disney hotel prices on UR redemption site, and I can't pull up any Disneyland or Disney World hotel and I've tried a bunch of different dates. Have they taken these off of the standard hotel search with UR, or is it just me having issues?

Seems like the Chase UR portal may be having issues with Disney hotels. @disneymagicgirl and @speedyfishy weren't able to pull up any rooms in the last few days either.

Quick question that got lost the other day:

How long of a "thaw" period should I place on our currently-frozen credit reports? There's no fee in our state for a temporary lifting to a freeze. Dh and I will each be applying for one Chase card this month. I expect our next applications would be in Sept/Oct.

Thanks :)

Timely information! @miztressuz and Lain: Can anyone clarify for me about the status after the changeover with regard to the credit card nights? Oldest daughter and I were just discussing this and she is showing 36 nights in Marriott Rewards and 14 Nights in SPG. She has all 4 credit cards - SPG personal and Biz and Marriott Personal and Biz. The question came up because of the Marriott upgrade offer - I said don't upgrade - you can get the elite nights for 3K spend on the personal if you are getting close to any status.

So, when she was able to look, she let me know she had these numbers. Neither of us knows if all 4 credit cards will count in August. I was thinking 'too good to be true'.

And, I'm not too shabby either: I'll have at least gold. I have 2 Marriott and 1 Spg.

I think it's mentioned in the helpful reading @Lain posted (I've only skimmed the links so far), but very prudent to not upgrade anything yet. If she wants to, make sure to not do the upgrade until after the anniversary nights post from the current card. For the new Marriott card (Premier Plus) the elite nights are not a benefit until 2019. And you don't get any elite nights for spend.

This is the last year for stacking the cards, going forward you can only earn one set of nights per rewards account no matter how many cards you hold. So the only reason to hang on to multiple cards would be for the "free" night, so far as I see at least. (or you legit have biz and personal travel expense to separate )

Makes me sad. I do rewards site cashouts to do gc to gc, if there's no paypal. I wanted to start gc churning after I got back from a trip, and it ended while I was on the trip.

Argh, this sucks. Bing took away PayPal so I was going to start cashing out for Target. I hate creative accounting, I preferred to have a $5 store GC and then magically have a $5 Disney (or whoever) gift card. Now I have to find $5 of stuff I want, buy it and then shuffle cash around to buy the Disney GC. I have to pay more attention this way and I've got other things I'd rather pay attention to.

Although I think Target may find less GC's being sold on 10% off day now. I know I won't be buying as many.

They pull your credit within a day or two of application, if not same day. So it doesn't need to be lifted long, if I understand what you're asking.

@Angrose if you have time, do you mind copying what I sent you through pm about the hotel and post here. I don’t know how to copy and paste a lot of text on my phone lol! Thanks!!
@Ngwira Here is what @wendow shared with me via PM about the Hyatt House Carlsbad:

I’ve never stayed at a Hyatt house before so didn’t know what to expect. I had called last week to request connecting rooms. Gal said non of the room connected but that she would put two rooms on hold for us across the hall from each other. Get to check in and it’s same gal I talked to but she didn’t do it. Now they are sold out and not much they can do. So rooms are on same floor but not that close. Fairly big hassle going back and forth with stuff all the time.

Other issues:

-Really outdated. Tub is stained. Grout around tub is nonexistent or dirty.

-king bed has huge jump in center. Feel like I have to hold on so I don’t roll off lol

-couches in both rooms have pretty big and dark stains.

-in the king room, the toilet paper holder is so far that you cannot reach it from the potty. Yet there is a wall right on the side of the potty. So weird.

-we are right off the i-5 here so the road noise is very loud as well as there is a train I keep hearing. The noise goes all night.

-Spiders. Big spiders in both rooms. My dd15 and I both have some arachnophobia so this is no good!!

I also just don’t care for the room layout. Glad I didn’t book this for Disney!

Paging @Lain and other Bay Area locals. We are in SF this Fri-Mon and looking for restaurant recommendations :-)

The internet (I view us more as a community) has endless sugggestions, and I can seem to pin anything down. DH and I are foodies...well it’s more me :D I’m also Chinese, so authentic Chinese is something I’ll be seeking as part of it. Planning to break out the native tongue if I must when we arrive, but I like to hold back because it’s just fun listening to what others have to say about tourists sometimes haha.

I know @Lain gave me a few great recommendations a few months ago, so I already saved those, but wanted to come back since we are leaving soon to round up any others our lovely travel community may have!

:cool1:

Hi! Long time lurker, very infrequent poster. I have read quite of few pages of this long thread and have learned quite a bit of information, but have a question. A bit of backround. To this point I have done the Southwest 50k bonus for myself and my husband, canceled the card after a year and then did it again after the 24 months was up. My husband just got his bonus in April. He could refer me for the 40k and get 10 or I was thinking of getting the CSP( I think that is the right abbreviation.. so much to learn!), the one with the AF waived the first year. He does have a Freedom, that we could then convert the points through the CSR. So my question concerns the double dip. I see that it means applying for two cards on one day. I get why you would do it for the Southwest card to get the companion pass, but am wondering what the advantage is for the Saphire. So I am 0/24 with Chase and he is 1/24
We have a family of five so we usually just fly every other year and drive when we don’t have points. We also don’t stay in hotels very often, as we prefer the space that a rented time share or condo gives us. So I guess our first want would be flights and then hotels. I was thinking of possibly taking a trip to Europe in the future and thought I could start now.

As I do not have a legit business, at this point I am not interested in a business card. But I think they way some of you do this you could call your credit card churning a “business”!

Thank you for all the good information, any advice or suggestions appreciated!

Of course I’d get the person that doesn’t know what they are talking about. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor. the original rep transferred me and the supervisor said I’d get a callback in 48-72 hours. I’m thinking I should wait until July though anyway to rebook incase a room discount comes out for my dates. I had no idea it was a hassle to rebook.
Ugh, so sorry you're dealing with that! I'm also patiently waiting for the DLR mid-July room promos to come out for August and then I'll book. I have an AP so hoping there are some good AP rates too. Right now I'm not planning on booking a package or going through Chase since I've had to use my URs for flights instead. Hope everything gets sorted out quickly for you!

Weather looks sunny and warm this weekend, but bring a jacket or sweater for the microclimates!

For Chinese food,
Mister Jiu's (in Chinatown, upscale Chinese-Californian cuisine)
R&G Lounge (in Chinatown, classic Cantonese cuisine, known for their salt and pepper crab)
Great Eastern (in Chinatown, classic Cantonese cuisine)
Yank Sing (2 locations off Market Street, upscale dim sum)
City View (in the Financial District, good dim sum)
Koi Palace (in Daly City, authentic dim sum experience, expect crowds)
Dragon Beaux (Koi Palace's more upscale dim sum restaurant in the Richmond)
M.Y. China (Under the Dome in the Westfield Mall, Martin Yan's collaboration with Koi Palace, hand pulled noodles, get the Chinese donuts)
Mission Chinese Food/Lung Shan Restaurant (Danny Bowien's famed joint in the Mission)
Hong Kong Lounge I & II (authentic dim sum)
Din Tai Fung (needs no introduction, but in Santa Clara)
Sam Wo (casual eats, newer location, but historic roots)
Yuet Lee (classic Cantonese after hours restaurant, known for their salt and pepper shrimp)

Golden Gate Bakery (in Chinatown, love their HK-style egg tarts)
Bake Cheese Tart (recently opened in the Westfield Mall, first US location, serves authentic Hokkaido-style cheese tarts)
Lots of HK-style dessert cafes in the Richmond.

State Bird Provisions (not Chinese but served dim sum style, award winning Californian cuisine)
Liholiho Yacht Club (recently enjoyed a fantastic meal there, not Chinese, but Hawaiian-inspired)
'āina (another wonderful Hawaiian-inspired restaurant)

Ramen is also really popular right now:
Ippudo (I think I mentioned this NYC favorite opened up a SF location near the Metreon)
Mensho (SF spinoff of one of Tokyo's famed ramen restaurants)

Boba tea cafes are popping up (again) all over, but Boba Guys is really trendy.

For coffee,
Blue Bottle Coffee (they have a location in the Ferry Building)
Philz Coffee (several locations downtown)
Sightglass Coffee

Check out the Ferry Plaza and its Farmer's Market on Saturday.

Off the Grid organizes a big gathering of food trucks on Friday nights at Fort Mason, and Sunday afternoons at the Presidio Main Parade (in front of the Walt Disney Family Museum with beautiful views of the Bay, including the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz).

And in honor of Anthony Bourdain: 30 restaurants where Anthony Bourdain got to know San Francisco.

Let me know if you're looking for anything else. If I think of any more, I'll follow up.

Remember, as a Platinum cardholder, you have access to a Platinum Concierge who you can tap to get hard-to-get reservations.

Just checked and my Plastiq check on my car payment went through! Just set up recurring payments and used my $500 fee free $s for the next payment. It did code 3x on my CIP. Didn't mention to DH as I don't want to try to explain the "yes there is a fee but with the 3x points I still come out ahead". Better he just knows it is paid and he doesn't have to worry about it.

@speedyfishy The promos are out early!! The Disney Visa card promo just came out today! Here's the info from the Disneyland thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...avel-between-july-1-and-september-27.3688901/

The advantage of applying for 2 Sapphire products in one day is getting 2 Sapphire products! Chase instituted a policy a few months ago limiting cardholders to 1 Sapphire product...just like you now can only get 1 personal SW card per cardholder. This way, you get 2 50,000 point bonuses.

Thank you!! I hope I get my points back soon so I can rebook. The DH is 20% off which would be great.

Ok, so I think I solved my problem. When the Disneyland discount becomes available to the public I’m going to book and put the deposit down then I have 30 days for them to give me my points back and I can transfer the reservation to Chase. I’m hoping it won’t take more than 30+ days.

I'm working on the MSR on my CIP. I know everyone says that they don't check to make sure you put business expenses on it, but I still get nervous! Is it okay to put my room deposit for our May 2019 WDW trip on it to go towards the MSR? Any benefit to putting that deposit on my CSP instead?

I might have an odd question, when going for a business card with a "business" does having a long history but still low revenues raise any issues? Hubby's side gig is technically just about 20 years old, but his equivalent cash revenues is still a little less than 1k annually. (lately he does trade in-kind more than cash, so actual cash is even less than that) Does this even come up or just me?

Next is trying to figure out his category and sub categories, he does services but jeez there's a lot to look there on that. AmEx made that simple, one drop down box that I recall with like 8 categories  Chase is oddly specific with theirs.
